Dancin' on Daybreak
Too bad there's not online video of their dancin BUT I guess the idea is to get folks to watch. The voting page is simple with just the dancer's mugshot on it and a very brief bio. AND you have to register with KATV.com to vote!

I didn't watch. I refuse to watch local KATV programming. So I can not properly respond to how bad this probably was. Because if I did watch I'm sure the mensa-squad behind these changes would comeback with something snappy like. "It got you to watch, so we must be doing somethign right." Guess what...I didn't watch and I really don't think I missed out on much.
I loved the KATV dance show this morning. It was fun!

How is that closed minded? I don't care for fish, so guess what I don't eat fish. I guess that makes me closed minded in your book, too. Please....I used to watch KATV every day pretty much all day for news. But I can't stand the revolving anchors and reporters. So I changed the channel and I don't think I've missed much. If I want local news I do what KATV, KTHV and KARK do. I read the paper.
Bottom line.... if you don't watch, you have no right to comment.
I think it is pretty sad that that daybreak defender feels he/she has to respond every time someone posts their opinion. Does your boss know you are blogging on company time? Or is that your job?
It sucked... Not just today but everyday!
I agree that if you don't watch, it is hard to appreciate how completely embarrassing this was for everyone involved.
With all the REAL news going on, there are better things KATV could do besides dressing in tuxedos and formals at 5am.

So the above poster wants a mornng show to be 100% hard news? Why don't you talk about what you want the show to be, instead of, complaining about what it should not be. And do realize this... whatever you want the show to be, others will disagree. No show can please everyone.
It is not worth getting up watching these jokers dance and i knew that they were just all was not worth watching like i predicted.

In answer to the poster who asked if I wanted to see HARD news. That's not it. I want to see "newsworthy." So a good human interest piece is nice when it is not a game show or arts'n'crafts. I DO like that the dance contest benefits charities. But, they shouldn't have a contestant whose charity is TBA. That really discredits KATV and this whole wannabe show.
Stay tuned...next week on Daybreak...the 'gals' are re-inacting scenes from your favorite sitcoms of old!
What about Daybreak the musical? They could sing all the days news and weather.
You have to admit... it has taken a lot of effort to put the dancing segments together. KATV is not lazy.
Everyone would agree that putting on a live show is not easy. It is HARD work, so I don't understand what is meant by "KATV is not that lazy" as if to imply that they are usually somewhat lazy? Huh?
The dancing is the hard part on the segment, not the TV part. How hard is it to clear the furniture at the RiverMarket studio?
I'm pleased to know that ya'll at the circle 7 ranch are spending your time teaching Arkansas celebrities how to dance while the other guys are covering news.

No, I don't expect a 100% news. Your advertising promotes 'Dancin on Daybreak'. Nothing was said about news, weather and traffic, too. The emphasis was placed on Dancin'. And, you know us Baptists we don't like dancin'.
Those ads are designed to promote the dancing portion of the show... other ads have been run to promote news, weather, sports, etc.
Why don't they do a contest for the HOSTS of the show. Then let us, the viewers, vote. I would surely watch that.
Am changing the channel so I can't complain about this ridiculous dance contest anymore. What a waste of air time!
I've finally figured it out. It took me a while, but I'm on to KATV.
They don't give sH!t about the viewer. They don't care what the viewers think, want, or need. They put on a show just to fill time between the commercials and if you don't like what they're doing then you're stupid. They act just like the Rebuplican party. If you speak out against us then your "closed minded" "opinionated" and "un-American". Congrats KGOP you've been assimulated into the Bush Borg.
BTW I'm pretty sure they have more commercials then anybody else. Whoever does a story count should also time the commercial breaks. Who does more news and who does more sales.
If KATV has lots of commercials... it's because they sell lots of ads... which is because they have lots of viewers !

If I were a KATV higher up, I would be upset at the way it appears some staffers are responding to innocent blogs. It would suit KATV staffers well to simply read the blog and make note of comments and to not take them personally. Their responses are adding fuel to the fire and appearing very unprofessional.

They only had the dog and the dancing on the show today. Sounds like Dirty Dog Dancin' to me.

You don't add commercials becuase you sell more time. If you just raise the rates. KATV has more commercials because they can't fill all thier time. They do less news so they need more filler. Just watch all the time is not sold, it's full of Oprah, Raymond and other free spots.
So instead of more promos... would doing more news be better? And, are local affiliated required to run ads for the national shows? I have no idea.
Ever notice you'll see 3 or even 4 promos back to back? YES that means they are trying to fill the time. NO advertisers, just plain ol self promotion. And during the 'news' ever notice how they read it very slow. No NEWS, NO ADS so they have to go at a funeral possession pace to fill the time.
How many, if any, of those national show promos does ABC require the affiliates to run? Does anyone know ?
I'm not talking about NETWORK promos, I am talking about those SEVEN IS NEWS promos. Viewers get LOTS of those back to back. And kinda strange LOTS of them play in the NEWS. No wonder KATV can't afford a good slate of reporters.
You know how news stories are crammed into, like 90 seconds? How about expanding those a little and doing "News Updates" instead of promos. Would that work ?
KATV is the perfect Tabloid TV Station!
KATV has variety... news, weather, sports, local, national, international... and some entertainment, too. If they JUST did news... people would slam them for being boring and uninventive.
Too many reporters just want a paycheck and reporting on all of the wrong thing's people want to see an it is just TABLOID TV in my book and "Dancing on Daybreak is a joke like i predicted.
KATV if you need help their is one powerful man living their in Little Rock,Arkansas that can help you and he has connections all over the world and he is watching you also and he is a bad man and he can turn head's and be on the look out for him and here is a hint he will preform a dangerous but all to real feat that will make you think about this and talk about this for days and he is one powerful bad man so keep watching.

I loved the show this morning.
It was really gracious of Nicole to thank the woman who made her look so classy. What a nice way to use morning TV for personal endorsements of friends, family and colleagues. It would also be nice to mention the charities that are being represented. I like that this show is so nice and feel good.
They do mention the charities... and since when is thanking people a BAD thing. The above poster is just warped.

Today was such an exciting show--with the cliff hanger ending. And Jason looked very handsome. Nicole was a knock-out in red.
True, there isn't much news. Maybe they should turn Daybreak into a variety show?
