Long Time Little Rock Broadcaster Retiring Today
A long time KARK on air personality is officially retiring today. Dave Woodman has been welcomed into homes of viewers since 1970 when he joined KARK as Sports Director. According to his bio at KARK.com, Woodman became anchor of KARK's morning and noon news in 1991 and then "retired" in 2000. Woodman's last broadcast will be at noon today on Arkansas Today.

Congratulations to Dave. He served Arkansas well.
class act
I wonder if the new management team pushed him out. That would be such a shame to have someone from outside the state that does not know what a treasure he was on local tv. Mr. Woodman was the last remaining figure on local tv that reminded us of when local news in Arkansas was at it's BEST.
Did anyone else see Hardin and Dee on air with Dave during Arkansas Today. It reminded me of how green those two still are. Hardin is terrible with chit chat. Dee acted like it was taking some of his spot light to let him join him to do the last two dialing for dollars.
I am sorry but Harding & Dee should have treated Dave better! KARK should have treated us to stories from old co-workers and on air talent. Old video clips would have been a nice touch when he was on full time 4 was actually worth watching. Many of the former talent are still around town. So many infact it is a real shame KARK did not plan this better and milk it for a lot more. Just shows KARK's management does not plan out and attempt to be creative and honor the veteran and even honoring the viewer.
I agree 4:16. I saw that and thought the exact same thing. The children could learn a thing or 50.
Thank you for all the memory's Mr Dave! You have been around my entire life and wish you could stick around.
Why look back when times were great? The little rock market these days looks like university tv. 7 can't afford decent reporters because of the six figure salary ned is getting, 4..well nexstar doesn't want to pay for anybody good and 11 could do better as it probably is the only one that really has the resources to reach out and hire some good quality reporters.
Good luck to Mr. Woodman.
Once again, KARK management shows how inept they are at marketing.
My wife and I watched it last night on our DVR. Dave as always a class act, but Hardin and Dee were horrible. A little planning and preparation for a send off was in order. Bob Clausen deserves some credit for an appropriate story, but come on people! Mallory could have asked any number of questions but couldn't move away from the script of reading Facebook posts to save her life. Oh, gone are the glory days of channel 4 to never return.
Glad to know I was not the only one that as usual KARK screwed this up. Very sad!
To the post that said 11 has resources....If they did , why don't they pay anyone. Ganett is a losing propostion. All of the TV staions are being dragged done because of the newspaper business.
The stations are all trying to survive with the bare minimum, thats why you see th MMJ thing. Cheap help doing double duty. Get your facts correct before you blurt out something that is incorrect.
12:11 Shut your cake hole.
His smooth & polished delivery will be missed. Was nice hearing him one more time, giving us the news as it's meant to be heard. Too bad nobody is attempting to follow his example.
End of an era. Thank you Dave - good luck to you sir.
I have always questioned why or how Mallory was hired in the first place. Facebook is not a credible news source, just like this website. Would you read what is posted here on the news?
The THV Saturday morning crew is also horrible about reading Facebook live on the air.
Dave Woodman was part of a great, bygone era in television journalism. These young whipper-snappers should have taken notes.
She had connections (Daddy)!!!!!!!
Of course she had connections, so why haven't they canned her yet?
There should have been professionals hosting Dave's last tv appearance. Dave has forgotten more than those two will ever know about broadcasting.
Exactly 11:57. It was a pitiful sendoff and clearly showed how unprepared those two are for the job.
Good luck Dave!
When was Mallory hired?
When was Lu president of UCA?
How much did UCA spend on advertising on KARK?
And there's the answer.
Dave is really conservative, but he didn't let his politics show on-air (unlike one morning anchor).
Who?
Duh. Matt Mosler
Not saying I agree but if you look at media networks across the board, their politics are fairly obvious. Please don't tell me you think unbiased opinions are the standard these days.
"Please don't tell me you think unbiased opinions are the standard these days."
No... but some people at least make an effort to give an appearance of being unbiased... not to say they always succeed.
I wish Mallory Hardin would go back to smarter Mallory from the days she worked at KFSM up in northwest ARKANSAS and not the dumb girl that management is making her portray.
