Did all the folks who've recently left THV know this was in the works? I know they all had good reasons for leaving, but did they know there was going to be a GM change and didn't want to wait around and see if they still had jobs there?
Having worked in this business for twenty-five years, this is normal. When a station like THV has lost many talented folks as they have over the last several years, the big guys behind their desks at HQ take a real close look at why this is happening. It’s business, show business. Ratings and money talk. The business is changing and evolving like it never has before. The economy has taken a huge toll on broadcasting in general and big corporations are becoming greedier and spending less money. The bottom line now drives decision making without any regard for the people that make the bottom line possible. They do just enough to get by. I’m an engineer and was employed at 11 for many years.
I was going to say, Gannett would have no reason to be upset with Larry. They don't care how many people have left recently: they care about the bottom line and ratings. Larry has made a career of doing more with less, not replacing people, hiring cheap labor--that's exactly what Gannett LIKES about him. Granted, the market he is going too is not that much larger than Little Rock. In that sense, it's a lateral move. But if the Gannett folks were displeased with him, they would not be moving him up. In their eyes, he's done a great job at THV. They don't care about people leaving or what the reasons were.
Allison? Is she the one that worked in the technical department and left KTHV as Channel 12 and in the noisy VHF television frequency band? Why on earth would anyone want their station to stay in the VHF band when UHF is so much more adapted to digital broadcasting? Oh, wait a minute, all they had to do was tune the Channel 11 antenna to Channel 12. I see, it was a money-saving thing. LMAO
and now for something completely different. With that Monty Python line I can honestly say its about time. Why and what really happened upstairs we don't know but I do know I apologize in advance to the new station we had him twice now.
Allison Fletcher is no way near being a candidtae. They'd give it to Craft before they would give it to her. Nothing against Allison, David is a better person for te job.
I thought they left David Craft in charge. Why would they do that if they were looking at someone else at the station? Larry always left him in charge every time I remember. He is the only manager that ever even comes in to talk or seems to give a $#!^ about what's going on. The dude's in charge, but he's not trying to be large like LA, I hope they leave it that way.
I bet ole Lettie Heizman was out in the parking lot with a stack of resumes for Paul T. I would love to see Crafts and Allisons face if this happens. It's certainly a possibility.
That's not a slap to Allison and Craft, cause they worked together with Leslie for years. Hiring Heizman would dis the new sales manager...I've seen Craft and Heizman out together and they seem to get along fine.
ah's an ingineer too. VHF ain't noisy, 8VSB sucks ass. Th' higher th' freq, th' mo'e power ya gotta make. Light bill fo' a full power vhf stashun is pennies compared t'uhf stashuns. Th' complexity of th' transmitter goes up as fine. Th' voltage goes up. An' who th' hell is watchin' off air ennyway? Only one of yo' thet ah knows of. An' Yo'! Fry mah hide!... Whut in tarnation is yo' doin' on hyar? Hey, an' they called Larry back. Shet mah mouth! Close t'home. ah's sho'nuff eff'n he doesn't pull one outta his butt, he will git kicked outta th' club. Well bust mah britches an' call me streaker. High turnovah, cornsecutive bad books, an' mo'al at an all time low. Hey, yall haf given yournelves away. ah guess ah have to.
O.K. I see. The engineer or "ingineer" at THV could not handle it because, as you say, the "complexities" of a UHF transmitter goes up. I understand now.
Also, you can use your our own high voltage if you know how, so that excuse is lame.
OK, so Carl got out of the "nervous hospital" and is now an ingineer at THV who specializes in complexities of the UHF/VHF transitter. Thanks for the explanation Carl, now back to your Biscuits with mustard.

good time to bail
good... he sucks.
I guess after you screw up a perfectly good TV station, you quietly exit stage left
April Fool?
Yeah, that's what I'm thinking.
It can't be April Fools, it was posted 3/31/11. Kat - your first post made me LOL!!
Yes Kat, I too had a nice morning laugh. I figured Allison Fletcher was taking over at the helm. Big LOL!
its official. Larry is gone! Didn't even say goodbye. Ha
Maybe he was fired because he made Tom get up on a box during the announcement and introduction of the new co-host of the am show.
Larry is moving to Gannett's station in SC (WFMY.)
Don't let the door hit you in the ass Larry. Bye :)
Wow! So it WASN'T April Fool's! I'm assuming he wanted this move? Isn't he from South Carolina?

WFMY is NC

So what is your point? THV is no different than any other station in that regard. At least they went HD and got rid of larry at the same time!
He got a promotion. The recent changes have nothing to do with his leaving. End of story.

I'm just relieved the few former co-workers that have survived his administration over there are now free of that cluster.

I love love love allison fletcher. She would make a great gm.

I agree. Craft would be the best choice...unless they can clone the Audas....LOL
