KATV Undecided How to Use Courtney
No doubt the talk of the week is Alyson Courtney's move from KTHV to KATV. But due to the non-compete clause in her contract she can't appear on KATV for 6 months. So just how will Courtney be utilized at Channel 7? KATV General Manager Mark Rose tells Arkansas Business.com, "We're trying to figure that out," he said. "She is a personality that we had an opportunity to talk with and bring over to KATV. We have a great team over here, and I think she's going to be a great addition to what we have. Her talent will allow her to serve in several capacities."

I like the idea of Lisa Fisher on in the am. They might consider trying an expanded combination hookup of kthv and and her radio show.
KATV will likely wait till it has a news director to determine Alyson's role. My guess is that she'll be on the morning show and one of the 2 current weather persons -- Barry or Melinda - will land on another newscast.
11 should hire lisa fisher for the morning show and steal tj holmes back from CNN.
Have Lisa, Tom, and TJ and Melissa for the morning show.

Didn't Fisher used to be on an early morning show at KARK?
Lisa was the "Dialing for Dollars" girl around the mid 80's. The trouble she used to get into. I think she and Doug Krile competed to see who could wear the biggest glasses.
She really was not that good on tv!

What about Heather Brown from the Heather and DC Show. She has filled in, but I doubt she read news stories. Still, she is better than the green THV crew.

Lisa needs to keep peddling furniture with that guy. Looks like she has put on a few pounds in the past 20 years. May just be my wide-screen in Stretch-O-Vision. There is no way that the camera that is used for people doing stand up in the studio is HD, nor the camera that shoots the weather garden. The way it looks to me is that THV has two studio HD cameras. Would someone that knows for sure post here.
They are cheap cameras that don't move. They look more like surveillance cameras with a teleprompter under them.
There are 2 in the newsroom and 2 in the weather garden.
Basically, if you go to best buy and buy an $80 HD camera you get what you pay for.
what is up with melissa taking over alyson's spot on the couch? the show is boring. the fans are dropping like flies. Not even tom's jokes can keep them around now! sucks. i thought tom and alyson could actually get back to where the show was 5-10 years ago

Can't wait until someone from Gannett checks into a local hotel (probably Budgetel) and does an audit on the local news shows. Ya'll do know that they do that, don't you?
Can't wait till corporate reps see the shadow problem they are still having with their new Weather Garden HD Weather Board. Unless the weather person is more than 6 feet 10 inches tall, and doesn't stand any closer than 4.5 feet to the board they will lose the arm shadow that is now plaguing them. Paging lighting, report to the weather garden.
Also, someone posted that the cameras they use on the weather garden are less than SD quality. They are much less. If the rest of the newscast were not in HD the difference would not be that noticeable.
Ya'll might want to go back to a SD newscast until you can afford a HD camera for everyone. Shore would look a lot better with the continuity of camera resolution.

I can't stand thv anymore. Melissa seems nice but just does not have it. Why in the world would Alyson want to leave thv she seemed to had a great thing going on.
I heard charlie crowson was real excited about getting bjs position and thought he'd get a good money promotion. But he only got $2,000.
I guess they did alyson and everyone else dirty fir that matter.
If Alyson went looking for a new job, then "good riddance." If KATV were courting her, it would seem if they are weak in their own personalities and had to go looking in a successful market. To bring in talent from a competitor should make their anchors feel less competent.
To "Anonymous" from the March 12 post, are you with another station since you included the comment "us other stations"? Sorry to disappoint you, but I will always love THV regardless of one fickle morning co-host.

The Weather Garden is a great addition to THV. It definitely gives the show a more personable approach to things viewers want to see. Sitty on a couches with ditzy hosts and hostesses (KATV) with fake smiles is not my idea of entertainment.
I dont know why it would make anchors feel incompetent. Someone posted alyson and beth are very close.
I think it shows Katv is serious about the future.

I heard alyson wasn't offered a new contract because the person responsible dropped the ball on getting her te-signed. Guess that makes her a free agent.

Hey, THV runs itself down. You must be an idiot. Are you blind? If you can't see the difference in shots, you don't need to be anywhere around a television station. The innovative idea was a good idea, it just didn't happen like it should have. I am sure everything in the new garden was a trade out and didn't cost Gannett much if anything.

THV does things half-assed. Trust me. First in HD - yeah, first with studio cameras in HD. The field gear still shoots in SD. Quit saying it if it's not true. You're just pulling the wool over everyone's eyes - kind of like when you bring these inexperienced people in and try to pass them off as journalists.
You bet the weather garden was a trade-out. Look who did the work - Paul Wilson & Chris Olsen - big advertisers with THV. Plus, Chris does a weekly segment. Most any work you see around the station is done by people in-house - the set, etc. - but that's just the TV biz.
I just wish we could get rid of the stupid rubber chicken commercials every time I blink. "This is a rubber chicken."

Loudest Spot on TV = Crain Ford
Most obnoxious spot = Rubber chicken
Corniest spot = Everett Motors
I wish the V-chip would actually block something useful, V meaning VeryStupidCommercials. Let the screen go blank during commercials that go beyond stupidity.
I'd rather watch an old Indian test pattern than listen to these clowns run the same ad for years on end.
