Nexstar Not for Sale
Nexstar, the parent company of KARK-Little Rock, KNWA-Fayetteville and KTAL- Shreveport, says it has suspended talks with potential buyers. An article on Arkansas Business.com says, " On Friday, the company said that it would suspend discussions with prospective acquirers "in light of the difficult conditions in the financing markets.""

Yeah, especially when they pay on peak use. It's the same mentality as turning florescent lights off and expecting a marked change in room temperature.
Nexstar can't sell because no one wants to buy.

Keep throwing you sour grapes. The truth is we did exactly what we said we would do. The goal was to be #1 in NWA not in the River Valley. That was never a secret. Last I heard we have made a big dent in taking KHOG viewers and advertiser dollars. Say what you want but we have grown while the other two have slid. Signed a proud KNWA employee. Now mouthy, where is it you work?
it's easy to throw insults at knwa because you all are scared. and you obviously think about us a lot. get oer yourselves and admit that knwa is competative. there is enough news to go around. deal with it.
8:35pm, it's a shame that your company (which has no morals, ethics, and treats its employees like crap) is taking cash from Hearst and Local TV (which, sure, do a lot of the same things but are at least respected in this industry and TRY to do the right thing). Is that really something to be proud of?
1:03am here, just to clarify - I work out of state for none of the above, so I have no coals in the fire. I just hate to see people in this industry slaving away for a disreputable business that doesn't take its employee's interests at heart.
I agree with the last poster but what I finf interesting is that the hate is to just Nexstar. They are all like that now. Nexstar is nothing compared to the guy that is running the old New York Times stations. You obviously haven't done your research on this guy. KFSM employees will be flocking out of there quick.
people will always find something to hate about their employer. if you don't like it, quit. nexstar doesn't treat it's employees poorly. it's just the ones that feel like they are being treated unfairly seem to chime in here a lot. i'm treated well. if you don't like it, use the heel toe express and move on. you are probably not doing good work if you are unhappy anyway.

I don't work for KARK's News Dept but I like the idea of them not having AP in most cases. It makes them actually go get news instead of reading what others go get. It's a shame that all News Depts in this city don't go get their own stories. You all use it out of just plain old being lazy.
To the above poster....AP got the story from KLRT.
They give KLRT credit in the story they sent out over the wire.
To say that every station in this market is lazy and uses AP is a crock!
The only reason that KARK is 4th in the news ratings is that KETV does not have a news show.

$th place...you can't read ratings I guess. As far as laziness goes I would say that all stations lean way to heavy on it. I will say congrats to KLRT though. I'm glad to see someone out there working.
I guess KARK's scanner was not working when the accident occured. Could it be that some stations have people working at night to cover such happenings? KLRT scoops again!

Who is yall. I'm not a KARK Matters News folk. I'm bragging on Fox. However, I do think KARK flies right past all of you on reporting Hog news. Oh yes, I mean you geeks over at KATV too. Home of the Hogs..yea right. I'm not sure what 7 is home to anymore. It's not news that's for sure.
