KATV Airs Infomercial in PrimeTime
I actually saw this too, but an e-mailer reminded me. On Tuesday KATV ran an infomercial instead of regular ABC programming. The e-mailer states the infomercial started at 7:30pm...but I was thinking it came on at 7pm. I could be wrong as I was flipping through trying to find some severe weather coverage.

Make fun of Equity, Nexstar and Clear Channel all you want but KATV is by far the worst in the market to work for. Technology is lagging, knee jerk firing when ratings are bad and we could go on and on. This place is going down hill even quicker than what we all think.

Equity can't even form their own local news departments with out the INN (Independent News Network) producing it,but Equity is a good company and it serves a great purpose.However I think Nexstar and Clear Channel do a good job on News programing. I would agree KATV is diffenltly going down from what it used to be. Their haven't updated their news set and desk since 2000 or before.Personally I think KATV is losing ground to KTHV,KARK, and FOX 16. It is sad to say but times are changing.
one last thing on channel 7's website is the video vault,I really like it.I always find it fun to look back on the past and I think it is really neat how it has old video dating back to the 1970's
That's not old video it's last night's newscast. Just a joke! At Equity's defense, there are a lot of really good stations that make a great profit that don't carry news. Sorry to burst your bubble but more people still watch more prime than they watch news.
When your sales department can't make budget. You have to make up all the money you can. After May expect to see more paid in prime.

The morning show war is good for the viewers. All three stations are working harder and doing more.
They also aired infomercials during prime time, booting according to jim and notes from the underbelly wednesday night. When asked, the station said they didn't know and blamed the fact that some of the engineers were either sick or short staffed.
They should have showed Beth Hunt and Ann Pressly mud wrestling.

It's more focused on revenue than ratings. Not a bad thing, just the direction the business is headed.
Infomercials pay bills, but it won't last forever.

There is no damn excuse for KATV to be airing *any* informercials during prime time.

I saw it come on that night and turned the television off... Because of all the conservative, pro-fundamentalist Christian protestant, pro war, pro lassez-faire capatalist, pro authoritarian rubbish that permeates all local and local news programming in this market, I turn off the TV when anything other than network programming is on. When I want local news, I turn on my radio and listen to the NPR station. It has a lot of local propaganda too, but it's not nearly as nasty, right-wing, or as thoroughly permeated.
I may just throw out my antenna and just use the TV for watching DVDs because the Little Rock local TV market has nothing on that isn't virulent right-wing propaganda or just garbage.
