KAIT Picks up AP Honors
Source: KAIT.com Tonight the Associated Press honored KAIT with a number of awards for journalistic excellence.Bob Snell won first place in the non-spot news category for his story about the day the 875th left for it's mission in Iraq. Bob also won a first and second place in the photography category and he won a first place for feature for one of his "Offbeat" stories about a three legged rooster.
For documentary, Diana Davis and Laura Gunter picked up first for their story about POW's in Jonesboro during WWII. Lauren Payne and Bob Snell took second for a piece about anorexia.
Craig Rickert won second place for his enterprise story about Jonesboro swat training. Ryan Vaughan won second in the best weathercast category.
The K8 sports team cleaned up. Glenn Marini and Mitch Lilly picked up a first place for best sportscast and another first for sports special programming for their Football Friday Night Special. And for sports reporting Glenn claimed first place for his story about a handicapped athlete and Bob Snell's "Senior Softball" story won second place.

I'm glad to hear Bob got an award for the three-legged rooster story. The public only had to watch it a dozen times! Gotta love re-runs.
The more chicken re-runs, the less Brett Garrett, Will Carter and Yalanda Young. Be thankful !!!
Every station usually wins a few AP Awards, but not all of them send out press releases about it. Big freaking deal.

It's just because he doesn't have a third leg like the chicken does.
What's even funnier about KAIT winning is they're in the same category as Fayetteville/Fort Smith.
AND, KNWA can't submit entries & KFSM only sent in 2 entries on time.
So it was a KAIT/KHOG sweep by default.
It's a shame that they let go one member of sports team. You get "national" sports on days that Glenn is off now.
I have attended these dinners in the past and that Bob Snell guy does a great job. He wins every year and deserves all the awards he gets. Only Steve Powell is a better writer.
Yea... lets just say the staff of KFSM is more than very upset their entries did not get sent in :-)

sounds like kfsm needs to get with the program...and it's not just their news that's slow.
A lot of people at KFSM are with the program, but the people who aren't make them look like idiots.
Nice how the folks in NW Arkansas hijack the spotlight from NE Arkansas, much like they always do...

What happened to Mitch Lilly? Is he still with the station and what happened to the little blond...Tiffany something...Blakship...or something?
I heard Mitch Lilly left the business and is now an amateur jockey. He is working very hard to race at Oaklawn next year
My wife saw Tiffany the other day, she is pregnant and is working at a clothing store in Jonesboro. THAT IS NO JOKE!
I had heard Tiffany was at eden spa as their marketing director.

wow Tiffany has gone from a tv anchor to this.....pretty sad....hope it works out well for her...I thought she had a lot of promise....I wonder why she left the station? quite a come down form tv anchor to store clerk....I thought Mitch was good and would soon get a better job...
Sports...KAIT has sports? Their High School Football coverage was great with Glenn and two correspondants, I wonder how they will pull that off in the fall. It seems to be a mess now, I assume Glenn will now shoot all the games and pitch them.

I enjoy watching Yalanda, she's a breath of fresh air. She brings personality to her stories and seems to enjoy what she's doing. She's very likable! Brett Garrett doing sports is a joke. He "couldn't get out of the blocks." Brett if your reading this, the quote is related to track! I didn't feel he was excited about anything he covered. Stick to covering the flooding problem in Jonesboro.
Yalanda Young is the reason I turn on KAIT 8's morning show. She delivers the goods on many levels.
