Former LR ND to Return to Airwaves

This from today's Paper Trails column in the A D and G :

"Longtime radio and TV broadcast journalist Bob Steel, most recently a media relations consultant at Stone Ward advertising, is returning to the airwaves.

Beginning Jan. 8, he joins Neal Gladner as the new morning anchor for KARN Newsradio. The pair will host together for a while, with Gladner eventually departing to work full time in the station’s sales department. Steel isn’t completely giving up his PR work, though. He plans to launch a part-time practice soon, offering media and presentation skills training as well as some event planning."

Will he still remain on the KATV payroll?

Is he really still working for KATV? I thought they let him go.

If the facts make a poster an idiot then it's a very well informed idiot.

I get the impression Meg resigned on her own... I didn't hear the reason why though...

She got to say a "goodbye" on First News on the Thursday before Christmas which I found unusual for radio...

Bob Steele, a broadcast journalist? I guess you don't have to do much to get that label 'cause I don't remember a thing Bob Steele has done.

I assume you're not a journalist or you would have spelled his name correctly. I guess it can be tricky.. but then again it was clearly spelled in the article.

Bob Steel led two news departments in Little Rock to number 1, KARK won the George Foster Peabody and three Emmys while he was there and KATV won 11 Emmys and two national Edward R. Murrow Awards under his leadership. He brought more TV talent into this market than anyone before or since. Never heard of him being a journalist? I worked under him and he is not only a journalist, he has trained more journalists than any broadcaster (other than Jim Pitcock) in Arkansas. Three of the four TV news directors in Little Rock worked for him. Ask anyone of them if he's a journalist. That guy is an idiot.

Stop posting under MY name!

"...He brought more TV talent into this market than anyone before or since."

Sorry, Pit still holds this distinction. I'm pretty sure Bob would agree.

"Bob Steel led two news departments in Little Rock to number 1..."

Another correction here. Bob inherited these top-ranked news departments and left both after they fell from their previous positions of glory.

Bob has killer pipes, though I believe he quit smoking. He'll be great. Good luck, Bob.

I think Bob will do an excellent job. He is a nice guy and has a great voice for radio.

I thought that Paper Trails was completely devoted to tales about New Orleans, I didn't reallize that they still mention Arkansans anymore.

I'm nominating him for the S.W."Bud" Bowker award. He's a winner.

So what is Gladner going on the sales team? Will he be in management or and A/E? Was this his choice?

The addition of Bob Steel to 920 only adds one more socialist voice to its growing left wing spin. Their listener base has been, for years, conservative. With Bob's liberal crap, and the "ugly" show, mornings have gone to the leftist. Which is sad, because every other talk station in the area is already socialist.
