KTAL Hires Weekend Reporter/Weekend Weather Anchor
Newsblues reports KTAL/6 in Shreveport has hired Tiffany Wong as a weekend reporter/weather anchor. Wong comes to Shreveport from KYMA in Yuma, Arizona. At KYMA Wong was an anchor/reporter.

I don't see anything WRONG with it. It is about time we get some diversity around here.
Sure, an Asian-American doing weather in Shreveport might seem a bit unusual given the demographics, but hey if she is qualified so be it. Congrats to Ms. Wong.
The only thing I can see that could be a problem is that she isn't a meteorologist, and Shreveport gets weather that requires a REAL meteorologists' expertise. This ain't Yuma, AZ. Weather talent actually have to forecast and KNOW severe weather....otherwise it'll eat you alive.

If you are a weather person working in a weather intensive market or more weather intensive than your previous job.....that doesn't know what the heck they are talking about then you'd be sailing up a river with no paddle. It'd would be like getting a bagger at a grocery store and throwing 'em in the emergency room to do open heart surgery.

She will be Great. She is a very smart girl. Maybe she can copy and paste the NWS like 3 and 12?

I don't think the weather in Shreveport is going to eat a meteorologist alive.
Here's how it works:
Spring - Thunderstorms possible, tornado warnings 4 or 5 times during the season.
Summer - Hot
Fall - Rain from a coastal hurricane possible, wind if it hits right below you.
Winter - 1" of snow if you have a "winter storm.
compared to Yuma... they get way more than Arizona ever does.

Top mets in Shreveport. Let's see at KTBS you've got Jeff Haines, Mark Rowlett, and Jennifer Grey..at KSLA, former KTAL'er Ron Young, former KTBS'er Ed Duranzyc and Patrick Dennis, who by the way started at KTAL years ago. At KTAL you've got Todd Warren, a former KTBS'er. To me Todd Warren seems to be the best.
