Whats New at KARK
Since I missed KARK's Severe Weather Special a fellow Arkansas blogger, David Quinn, watched the program and reports that 4's 'mets' have a new weather center. Quinn says the set is reddish in color AND it features bigger monitors than the previous weather center. Will the 'new' news set look similar?

Also, the special was so boring. I missed Will&Grace and Earl. Why, oh why do they still employ Tracy Douglas. She can't even read a script.
I thought the special was good. It was a good service to Arkansans. It wasn't boring. It was very fast paced.
As special's go for Arkansas tv, it was actually pretty good. The new weather center blends a whole heck of a lot better with the set.
Tracy is a great tv personality. This is how I define David: one who is a douche bag.
I watched the NCAA tournement (in HD), and recorded the special to dvd. Great job, in presenting the info and overall presentation. One forgets that this is a NEXSTAR owned station doing this. Far better than the usual junk from KATV (especially those annoying "hawg" specials).
And yes, those are actual widescreen LCD tevees in the weather set. KARK went full power and HD on March 17th, but one could not tell on their website. More of local stations' closeted attitude toward HDTV save for KTHV (and KLRT to a lesser extent).
This was just awful...I would have rather watch paint dry...This was one of a very few new Will and Grace's left.....Deathstar doesn't have a clue....KARK has a couple of nice coverages with bad weather and now they over do it!!!!!!!!!!

"This was just awful...I would have rather watch paint dry.." That's my reaction to Will & Grace. Just wait a few months and it'll be on DVD and then KLRT will show it every night just like it does now. Maybe you and "defining david" can get together and watch it.
"KARK has a couple of nice coverages with bad weather and now they over do it!!!!!!!!!!" Nope, I don't think so. They have yet to over do it. They actually do the job the way it should be done. They actually "walk the walk", and don't just "talk the talk" like neolithic Ned. They actually know what they're doing and care about the viewers, and it shows on the air!

Yes--even with the Olympics, KARK sucked fish heads. Ouch, that must hurt.
KATV was the big winner except for the mornings where they got their clock cleaned by KTHV.
No, I believe in giving credit where it is due. My opinion about Nexstar Broadcasting has not changed...it is a cheap, reactionary company. The station has done well (damn good) in recent weather coverage, the suits finally allowed KARK to join the 21st century with a HDTV signal that can be seen outside of Pulaski county, and its trying to atone for its horrible programing decision in January. Not sure if it can make progress beyond that. The Razorback Nation is sure to not work into the summer months, but there is always ESPN sportscenter for those that must be in the know. Keeping

The jury is still out
It's one thing to hear everyone talk about the great things KARK is doing -- but nobody outside the DMA can see them, because none of the Nexstar sites does streaming video.
For heaven's sake -- it costs less than $100 to get that set up on a Web site -- and KNWA (in its prior lifetime as Arkansas NBC) even HAD that up and running, then took it down. What is up with that?

7 may be ahead in the ratings, but their product comes across as stale as old bread - uninspired.
My opinion of Nexstar is the same as the next guy. But, someone is making some good and creative decisions at 4. I just hope that same person isn't the lame brain behind Razorback Nation. Bo Mattingly is minor league at its worst!
I would have rather seen the "My Name is Earl" re-run that my Tivo was supposed to recorded instead....
