KARK to Unveil "New Things" During Weather Special Thursday Night

Arkansas Business.com reports that KARK will debut some 'new things' during the stations weather special slated to air Thursday evening, 3/23, at 7pm. Below is all KARK GM Rick Rogala would tell AB.com:

"“We’ll probably be unveiling some new things during the special,” he said, referring to KARK’s “Severe Weather Special” that will air later this month.

When asked if among those “new things” was a redesigned set, Rogala only allowed, “Just that there will be some updates that people will be very interested in seeing.”"

Y.A.W.N.

And it took slightly more effort for you to post your Y.A.W.N. than it did to simply ignore the thread.

Way to go!

Keep on your worthless existence and look for more threads you find desirable.

Change is good, especially the way KARK has changed as of late.

You just have to wonder how the commitment to "good news" will factor in after a while. It's tough to report good news without it being fluff.

Funny thing, when I read this, I found that I was reading it in Robin's voice--like Batman and Robin; high and whiny.

A weather special? I think this is going just a wee bit too far now. I guess they really think that rain and sunshine is going to bring them out of the ratings cellar.

I agree with the second poster. As Jim Rome says, "Have a take and don't suck!" If all you can say is Y.A.W.N., then you're obviously extremely bored with yourself, and are desperately trying to compensate. Do us all a favor, say something with a point, or don't waste either our time or yours. If you don't like 4, fine. Change the channel and watch something else.

I'd rather watch a new, original, severe weather special, than the same ole canned, Kiss (Frank, Stan, and Houston)'s butt, Razorback coverage any day! That's what really goes too far, and that makes me really go Y.A.W.N.! -BORING!

Okay, let me be pointed:

You are marginal on every front.

You are owned by a below-marginal company.

Your reporting staff is green, green, green.

Your staff veteran is (drum roll) Tracey Douglas. Nothing against Tracey-she looks great.

You don't have a local sports department.

Your male anchor blinks his eyes for two seconds at a time, sends the message that he's Mr. Cool and would make a great Clark Kent.

Your female anchor is hot but needs some seasoning.

Your weather department may be the best in town, but I'm not watching.

Your "special" full of self-congratulating B-S from people who mostly aren't from here, look like they're 22 and who can't pronounce the names of local towns correctly isn't going to change my mind.

Hey, I'm looking for something good. Show me some substance and I'll stop Y.A.W.N.-ing over your new and improved baloney.

By the way, do you really think that you can report on a good news format and make it work? I'm sure the people who've tried it and fallen flat on their faces in LA, New York, Chicago all thought the same thing. I'm sure you know much more than they did. If you want to report good news, go work for the Peace Corp Chronical. People love to talk about good news; they just don't watch it, greenhorns.

Hope I cleared things up for you.

Good News format- hey they tried that 5 years ago under the strong leadership of Ginger Daril --- it worked so well she is in PR and two other men have had her office since she was knocked off the block...

Thank you all for taking the time to comment about KARK. The more you talk about us, the more we like it.

"Okay, let me be pointed:"

When you mature, and you understand anything at all about the future of journalism, and why audiences have migrated away from local television newscasts, then you can comment. Until then, listen and learn more than you comment. And, when you do comment, please know what you are talking about.

You're telling me you need to be mature and know what the future of journalism is to choose which station to watch?

BWAAAAHAHAHAHAH!!!

And the poster is kinda right about writing more gives Four more attention. It's kinda like shooting fish in a barrel. There's not much satisfaction in it.

At least it's not butt kissing over some dopey football season that happened 40 plus years ago! That really makes me want to watch 7's rediculously overhyped sports team! Yeah, right!

Just saw 4's weather special. It was good. I Like the improved set.

As I watched 4's special I could not help but notice that Brett turned to Dan most of the time and asked for his oppion. Brett almost seemed to ignore Mike Francis. At one point Tracey Douglas (My I add it was very nice to see and have her be part of the special)asked the question and quickly referred to Mike Francis for the answer. I am not a big Mike Francis fan, but he seems to be a wealth of knowledge when it comes to weather situations. Did anyone else notice Brett seeming to ignore MIKE?

I noticed that Brett looked to Dan to answer all of the challenging questions. Actually Mike and Dan answered most of them. I think Dan is probably the most impressive of all three, but personality wise, Mike is the best. Watch out Brett, there could be a new Chief soon.

Nothing against Brett at all.. but Dan and Mike KNOW their stuff IN and OUT. Period. That is why he was turning to them to answer the questions....because he more than likely didn't have a clue, or didn't feel confident enough in his meteorology to answer the question confidently.

Brett is a really nice guy, smooth on the air and sharp looking....but Dan and Mike run circles around him when it comes to meteorology knowledge.
