After years of looking as bad as KTAL used to, anything would be an improvement.

this seems bigger than just the "anything would be an improvement" category. they won the rtnda makeover contest and did it up big. everything looks very slick.

I agree. This would be just another update on other stations, but to KTVE, whose owners would NEVER have done this for them, it had to be the biggest day the station has had in years. About $500,000 worth of new everything!

That weather center looks better than any other in Little Rock & Shreveport.

I watched them on Friday. The evening newscasts were flawless. I thought I was watching another station in another market! Good job KTVE! They've come a long way.

Good looking station, with a worse than below average Sports director

I think they've got good sports guys. Better than Aaron at KNOE. I much prefer KTVE's sports.

I prefer less sports and a guy that speaks out of the corner of his mouth. I hate tons of local sports and Coverage of ALL football games. They stink so bad At KNOE that 4 AP wards in row only makes them worse. Chris Majikloiuski (whatever) IS THE BEST GUY (in his own mind)

Even better to see Chris mikCOWski toot his own horn one or time. I bet Aaron was up 7am making posts on here. That dude was probally getting home from from the bars? Hey Chris, believe it or not ALOT of people are turned-off by you. Try being nice to people you meet from time to time. Hell, I worked with you, and it's not your lack of talent, it's that your just not cool or nice to anyone.

I also worked with him and he was always nice and a great guy to talk to. Maybe you got him on a bad day.

I don't see what the deal is with the sports guys in Monroe. ITS MONROE! Are you expecting guys like Paul Eells or Bob Griffin at these stations? You get what the market can afford and for sports guys, its probably the best you can get for the money.

No, the sports in that town is much better than Arkansas. All this talk about KTVE finally beating KNOW ever is crazy talk. You show me this last book and I'll show you the gap.

I never saw anyone talking about KTVE beating KNOE on this message. Not until you brought it up. But since you did, nothing is impossible. Look at Lexington, KY where the dominant station for the past 30 years was just beat for the first time by the cross-town NBC rival. Good things are FINALLY happening at KTVE and it may take the next 5 or 10 years, but they will take a large chunk of KNOE viewers. They've already taken their younger viewers.

MAYBE KTVE CAN MOVE TO LEXINGTON, KY. WHERE ALL YOU NEED IS NEW SET TO KICK SOME BUTT.

Did that make sense?

About as much as KTVE thinking new set, same old lame people will help. KNOE is bad, get a new main anchor, move out of Arkansas, and fire the sports guy.. and boom...16 or 17 more people will start watching... Do that every year for 12,000 years and you got'em.

"They've already taken their (KNOE's) younger viewers."

Um, no, not according to Nielsen. But that's something KTVE would know nothing about because it doesn't subscribe to Nielsen's ratings book.

Fact: KTVE will never win in this market unless it physically uproots its tower and moves it south near the Monroe area, because of the way the DMA is drawn.

The thing is that viewers in South AR do not watch 10 because they do the news in Monroe... and the viewers hold a grudge because they actually remember when 10 did everything in El Dorado. Viewers in LA don't watch 10 because the tower is located in Union county. I think 10's best move would be to move their whole operation to El Dorado, they would gain a lot of viewers in south Arkansas. Most people in S AR watch KATV simply because it's the only AR station here. KTVE will never gain viewers in LA, because they are all used to KNOE. KNOE is in Monroe, so they should give MONROE news. 10 needs to be in El Dorado, and give S Arkansas news. After all, this is a split market. And the E in KTVE stands for "El Dorado". I personally watch KATV, because KTVE and KNOE only give Monroe news. KTVE may have one story from El Dorado, but that's all. I think enough things go on in South Arkansas to warrant a newscast. And KTVE will never move their transmitter, because their COL is El Dorado. A few years ago, 10 started doing their news from both El Dorado and Monroe, because the residents of El Dorado complained enough to the FCC. But, the complaints stopped, and 10 gradually changed back to all Monroe.

I don't think they'd make enough money to support themselves if they totally ignored Louisiana. Look at all the revenue they make from Louisiana businesses. For every 8-10 spots, only 1 is from an Arkansas business. As much as I hate to admit it, their best move is to only do the Arkansas news from Union & Ashley counties (the counties in the DMA) and focus on Louisiana's parishes.

If they swapped NBC 10 with their Fox 14, they'd have the total DMA coverage area on Channel 14 and be able to compete with KNOE.

That won't happen until Nexstar buys KTVE. 10 is still owned by Piedmont-Gocom and 14 is owned by Nexstar.

Just a thought, What if KTVE moved the tower to Ruston and became the Central news station? South Ark and N. LA..You could have LA Tech sports a bit of E I-20 and Eldorado. Alot of business is being done in Ruston, and I hear the PGA is eyeing a course in that area.

You know, we've watched KTVE/KARD's new setup for a year.
They're bringing Tammi Arrender back as an anchor.
Their news crew, though, is always 15 minutes late to events and their other stories are usually a day later than KNOE and the night after it appears in the morning's edition of The Monroe News-Star. Until they fire up their news engines, it's still a pretty set with old news.
I do like getting their first edition of news at 9 pm on the Fox affiliate first however.
