KATV Leads the Pack in February Book

Arkansas Business.com has gotten hold of the ratings numbers for the Little Rock market. The article says KATV lead the way at 5, 6 and 10. The article says KARK say only a small increase in numbers from the November book. 4 and 11 still hold the crowns for other parts of the day. In the mornings KTHV continues to lead the pack and KARK had the highest noon news program. You'll find the article HERE.

Wow! Fox16 continues to grow with only two years on the air...They're certainly a station to watch.

Can you say three nights a week of American Idol?

Can you say Idol is not on three days a week....but Idol did beat the Olympics, Grammys and everything else up against it....

Oh and how about this.....FOX16 has a great product.....Don't hate them because they cover the news in our communities not press releases..

They are going to make the other lazy station get off their butts and find news!!!!!

Just watch folks, this is the slow decline of TodaysTHV. The days of being warm, fuzzy and funny are over. They won't be able to stand the heat.

Ummm...Idol was on 3 days a week during Feb. Day 1 the boys sang, day 2 the girls, then day 3 they voted the losers off.

What is the spin from KARK?

It's hard to judge KARK's numbers because they went on at 11:00 after the Olympics. Arkansas viewers go to bed at 11:00. Wasn't KARK up at 5:00 and 6:00? I know KARK continues to hold on to the number two position at 5:00.

Once again, the Arkansas Business article doesn't tell the true story. You have to see the numbers from the previous February to see who's up and who's down. Of course, KATV won at 5 & 6. They're still coming off huge numbers from the past. The question is, who is gaining and who is slipping over time? Let's compare the last few February books.

A better than expected Razorback season no doubt helped KATV's 10:00 numbers. Not to mention ABC's number one ranking.. something the network hasn't seen in years.

Fox16 was up from Feb. 05...now they're only one point away from KARK at 10pm...in key demos. WOW...remember...that's with only two years on the air..imagine what will happen in two more years...can you spell G-R-O-W-T-H.

Two things to say about Idol's impact on FOX16's ratings.

First, American Idol was the lead-in in Feb'05, and FOX16's News had fantastic year to year growth.

Second, it amazes me to see criticism for having a strong lead-in. Why does NBC air ER at 9p or CBS air CSI at 9p---that is how the game is played.

You can't compare KLRT and KARK until there news is opposite each other. Anyone knows in this business that you can't compare different time periods... Example, 9:00 versus 10:00.

From the looks of things FOX16 is playing the game VERY well.Get ready for more growth in May.

Yeah when you are about to become the number 4 station in the market I wouldn't want to compare either.

Hey Greg get off the blog and run your assignment desk, maybe if you did FOX16 wouldn't be moving past you!!!!!!!!!!!

Besides Deathstar doesn't buy the book...but Lammers somehow gets the numbers...

Greg and Rob drink more kool aide

How can you say warm and fuzzy KTHV is declining? Look at those morning numbers. That's where your real growth is. Those numbers are huge! Have a little fun and compare them to, say, February 2001.

Any way you look at it if KLRT-FOX16 continues to gain... as they have every book since they began...they will have more 9pm viewers than KARK at 10pm. Ask the sales department. It matters.

I hope that KTHV sees what a gem their morning news is for that station. The evening can completely tank in the ratings, but the morning show still pulls huge numbers. I would rethink some decisions over there. The morning anchors are a lot more impressive than evening. I would put the true talent where it counts.

In reference to the comment Larry Audus made about viewing patterns during Oympics, why make up excuses? You can't blame the Olympics for a bad book. The Oympics were on KARK, and KATV was the big winner. Why not dig a little deeper and figure out what the real problem is. If your morning news can kick the other stations in the rear every book, why can't you do the same thing at night?

It's the same old thing. Ford vs Chevy. Thats the case now. 10 years ago THV was a distant 3 with KATV in the lead. Now, THV's 10 PM news beats the Olympics at 10 PM. Even when KARK's numbers increase 5 share points feb. to feb.

KATV inches past THV, THV inches past KATV. Basically two powerhouses jockey with double digits at 10 PM.

...4 & 16 shooting for second...a distant second. Who really cares about who inches out who? If you're at 7 and lose Oprah, it's over. At THV, you're enjoying the CBS lead in. For Fox to be able to even keep the lights on is a great thing. No matter what station you're for, the market is a strong one and everyone benefits...chill and enjoy success where it happens. Even at the deathstar.

Say what you will about the alleged growth of Fox16 and how wonderful THV is....couldn't help but notice how both stations severe weather coverage this weekend and follow-up coverage on the storms was severely lacking. Both stations need to thank network programming for any successes.

KATV had very good coverage and reports.

Best overall reporting goes to KARK staff. Dan Skoff was on his game and the rest of the team did a great job.

Again Greg get off the Blog and run your desk....If you like weather coverage where the Met keeps calling Ft. Smith...Ft. Worth and he couldn't say Lavaca..then I guess you like Dan and the rest of the goofs at KARK

Say what you will about the alleged growth of Fox16....Just because Deathstar is to cheap to buy the book doesn't mean the numbers aren't true!!!!!IT'S IN BLACK IN WHITE and there is proof, but you can't read a book so you wouldn't know
