*yawn*
Been there, already doing that says 40/29 and KTUL in Tulsa . . . . .
Seems like a waste of money - with the Hogs set to have a loosing season.
Loosing season? Is that the opposite of a tightening season?

I don't get the real strategy behind KNWA's sports efforts. Their audience is in Wash and Benton County. 50% of the population has moved in within the last 5 years - they are not interested in Razorback sports. THere has been research that clearly says so. The remaining viewers with interest are then split between the three affiliates. And the other two stations have much more established departments. No one really wins when it comes to sports. Why not blow out weather!? You know, hire 15 meteorologists or something. Give it 5, 6 minutes per show - buy all kinds of high profile storm chasing equipment with lights and bells on them.
Just a thought.
I want more Vandy coverage.
I want more Matt Jones coverage.
I want more UA cheerleader coverage.
You know... we're ALL so stupid. Arkansas has the best collegiate sports dynasty in history... the TRACK TEAM. Why don't we just cheer more for them?
Matt Jones coverage? Please - the guy lost as many games for us as he won. He was a liability because he could never hang on to the football. While moonlighting some at QB for Jacksonville, there's a reason he's not a full-time QB . . . . .
Live by Matt... died by Matt.
At least it was exciting.
Robert johnson is better? Matt jones was the best thing to happen to Arkansas since....Dogpatch.
I never said Robert Johnson was better. I just said Matt's not as good as everyone makes him out to be - at the QB position, at least.
If we had Matt, the Hogs would be 2-0 right now.
"Been there, already doing that says 40/29"
Have you seen their set? It is a piece of crap and flat! Yeah, keep saying that, because you guys over there just freakin rock (sarcasim)!
The set doesn't matter much... great talent matters !
If we had Matt, the Hogs would be 2-0 right now.
Only if he was coaching.
I think the Hogs should score more touchdowns and give up fewer points.
I think the University should concentrate on graduating students. And care less about winning games. Look at Vandy and Duke.
Graduating students? Are you serious? That post must have been written by a studious female who didn't date much.
Here's a bitter pill for all those KNWA'ers out there to swallow:
You will never have as many viewers as 40/29 or 5. Build the prettiest set that you want. Hire any talent that you want.
You don't have a.) the signal to reach the entire DMA or b.) the resources to cover the entire DMA.
You have already conceded loss to 50% of the market by not covering the River Valley. And the other two stations are better able to compete in NWA.
I mean, for gosh sakes, one of your "big stories" yesterday was about standing in the lunch line at the new Har-Ber (Springdale) High School.
I laughed out loud when I saw it.
(By the way, sarcasim (sic) is spelled sarcasm.)
if knwa's stories are so bad (like lunchlines) why do you watch...to know that story was on you were tuned to KNWA!!! what incredible stories did the other stations have? of course if you saw them
My comment about been there, doing that was not meant to toot 40/29s horn - it was meant to point out to KNWA to try something ORIGINAL instead of riding piggy back off the competition. I never said Sports Final was any good . . . .
The bitter pill poster said it best about KNWA. Daquiri's, I mean Margarita's, story wasn't even that good and poorly researched. She gave the principal a free pass when he said he didn't think they needed another lunch period but she never pressed him as to why. I agree the story is pretty lame to begin with, but if you're going to do it, you need to do it right . . . .
I will say KNWA isn't hurting my feelings any by not covering the River Valley. Since I don't live down there I could give a rip about what's happening down there anyway - and I think most NWA residents would also agree w/ that sentiment. It seems the only news the other two statioins are able to pull out of there is bad news. Let's be honest, nothing newsworthy happens down there anyway, at least not on a daily basis. The most recent exception being the Katrina evacuees being housed at Fort Chaffee. The only reason Fort Smith/River Valley is part of the market is because it has NWA attached to it. Any of us that have worked in the market for any of the 3 stations know the Fort Smith reporters are more or less viewed as the bastard children of the station anyway. NWA is the place to be, at least in this market.

ROFLMAO!
Go Hogs!
I agree; don't care about Fort Smith news. However, I watch KNWA occasionally for the same reason people slow down on the highway: "Do I know anybody in that car wreck?!"
Just call me a news rubber necker.
KNWA blows. They were $7.5 million in debt when they were Arkansas NBC. Some big hot shots came in from Texas just so they could feel good about firing old Griffin employees. Now they have a bunch of lame brain's that are doing the newscasts. I used to be a studio operator that only got to run cameras while they were training everybody else. I knwa that their GM over there is just a pompass pain in the butt. I left there only about 3 weeks after KNWA was born. the other 2 stations will kick their buts.
