Where Are They Now

David Hershey is in the 'Where are they now' spotlight.

David is originally from Baltimore, Maryland. He began his TV career in Memphis, Tennessee at Germantown High School under the guidance of Frank Bluestein; his instructor and eventual life-long mentor. There, as a student, David was appointed General Manager of the school's cable access TV station.

After graduating high school in 1987, David attended college at Arkansas State University in Jonesboro, Arkansas. In his first week there, David was hired at KAIT-TV (abc) from work in high school. In his 5 years at KAIT, he was promoted several times; working 3 years as a News Reporter-Photographer and then eventually as the station's Promotion Manager...the youngest ever at age 21.

David received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Communications from ASU in 1991 and was also named the Arkansas Associated Press Student Scholar of the Year for 1990.

In 1993, he was named Promotion Manager for KATV (abc) in Little Rock, Arkansas. In 1998, he was promoted to Director of Promotion for WJLA-TV (abc) in Washington, DC.

What's David doing now? He is the Director of Creative Services for CBS 11 and UPN 21, KTVT/KTXA, Dallas/Fort Worth. He is responsible for the promotion and marketing of each station as well as the creative look of each.

David Hershey is without a doubt the most talented guy I've met in this business. KATV's promotion hasn't been the same since his departure. Letting him go was a huge mistake by the station. I've seen his work in Dallas and it's incredible. He's also a very nice guy who loves Arkansas.

Yet another from the long list of ASU Radio-TV grads who still gives back to the school and students. Top notch professional!

I would have to agree. That it was a bad move on KATV's part letting Hershey get away from them. He has done tremendous work with KTVT.

Well there really wasn't much they could have done. The parent company wanted him in DC and that's where he went. I got to be a grip on a few of his promo shoots and was not only a great talent, but also a great person. I hope he's doing well in Dallas.
