Mitch Mustain Presser Coverage

An e-mailer sums up the NWA coverage for us:

"The Northwest Arkansas coverage was dropped by two stations. KFSM cut away before Andrew Norman made his announcement. KNWA had really bad audio and Bo Mattingly was talking all over the coverage making himself the story rather than the announcement and they didn't cover Norman's announcement live either. 40/29 did the best job with Derek Burleson letting the thing happen and showing both Norman and Mustain's annoucement. They stayed on the longest live and did the best job."

I, DCG, will provide what I observed as far as the Little Rock stations. I was flipping from station to station and noticed KTHV didn't lead with the press conference and to my knowledge did not carry it LIVE. Someone please correct me if I am wrong. KARK lead with the presser and basically simulcasted KNWA's coverage. Bo did talk while Mustain was trying to talk. As for KATV it carried the announcement live AND it lead the 6 o'clock news. KATV dubbed it the Razorback Report. That intro followed the 6pm newscast opening.

KARK lead it's newscast with the live report. Bo does tend to make himself part of the story. I'm sure that will be corrected. KARK did have Mitch on live for a one on one interview. It is clear KARK is now in the razorback game.

How can KARK and KNWA be "in the Razorback game" with poor audio from the liver, Bo talking over the top of coverage, no live announcements and further, at the moment - NOT EVEN A TRANSMITTER ON THE AIR! No infrastructure in place to do get the job done or support the product.

KARK reported the story... that's how.

The Morning News had Ryan Aber's story online by about 6:10 with a "breaking news" tag.

As you know... moring "news" is recycled from the night before. Nobody in this market works hard enough to get fresh stuff.

Go to a bigger market and it's amazing... reporters out there hitting the streets with live news. It's wonderful.

KATV sends Jason Harper wherever sales needs him to go.

The only reason KATV was in Springdale for the annoucement is because they read the "Breaking News" on www.knwa.com.

Are you serious? Do you really think KATV reads KNWA's web page for breaking sports news!?
HA HA HA HA HA! Obviously written by a KNWA staffer!

No, sorry to disappoint. Not a KATV staffer. Not even in the TV business. Just an observer.

keep bashing knwa ....it is great that you folks have the time to do so. for those of us working on our careers and our product -- and not contributing to petty fighting online -- you provide a GREAT source of encouragement and entertainment, to say the least. for a station that has been around for just 5 years -- and has been knwa for ONE year -- it is holding its own against stations in the market for 50 plus years. it is sad that in a business as GREAT as the news business, we can not be competitive -- with CLASS.

Don't worry - I will. Until their product improves, which it probably won't, I'm going to keep bashing them.
