ArkLaTex Chief Met Signing Off

This from the tip jar:

Today will be Stephen Parr's last weathercast at KSLA, Shreveport.  He is starting a political talk radio show with  someone else and doing marketing in LA-TEX marketing.

KSLA named Parr's replacement a couple of weeks ago.  Jeff Castle comes to the ArkLaTex from Huntsville, Alabama where he was the morning met at Raycom's WAFF.

KSLA's choice of on-air talent has been very poor the past 6 or 7 years or so. I've gotten to where I quickly change the channels if I surf and land on KSLA. KTBS isn't that much better to be honest and I really have cut back in watching any local news really. I don't know what it is but there's just something about Shreveport TV that seems to get these goofy people hired. Is this something talent consultants for our market come up with thinking we like this sort of thing. Local TV news sucks donkey b_lls if you ask me.

Having traveled a little to other areas of the country, I can tell you that local TV news pretty much sucks everywhere. Same silly people saying silly things, trying to be silly and taken seriously as "journalists".

When Doug Warner is on, the silly meter is pegged out !!!!

Someone referenced KTBS, what happened to Wendi Redman. She's gone.

@7:43 pm

She moved to Myrtle Beach with her new husband. He was recently transferred out of Shreveport. They just got married a couple of weeks ago.....

I thought Wendi said they were moving to Florida. She used to work in Myrtle Beach and got married there.

Folks leave local TV here in Shrevespit like freshman classes in college. No broadcast legacies any more. But then again local TV just ain't what it used to be.

If I did what I seen some of theses punk assed kids do back when I was their age my parents would have given me a good 1970`s ass whopping

Off-topic but since this thread is about weathercasters, Rhonda Lee formerly of KTBS has been hired to do weather for a satellite network in Denver WeatherNation. Read more at this link:

Jeff Castle is an absoslutely inredible meteorologist. I can't imagine KSLA having made a better choice, and to be honest, I'm shocked he settled for a market that small as good as he is. He worked and thrived during many events such as the 4/27/11 Super Tornado Outbreak in AL/MS/TN (his old viewing area covered counties in all 3 states.

July 11 9:19pm commenter must work for KSLA promotions dept. as this comment just reeks word-for-word of James Smith propaganda. Still trying to cover those Barack Shapiro wounds are we KSLA? We know "self-suction" when we read it.

Barak Shapiro wounds? WTH? Of all the good talent that has come and gone, you grab THAT name out of thin air? lol. Might want to step up your burn game. Anyway, cynical bunch that you are, you're right about DW. Too silly, too much bad ad libbing. But Jeff might actually be a good hire. Not that he would have to do much to outshine the extremely dull competition.

I am so proud of her! She belonged on national tv anyway. She's super nice when you meet her in public. We wish her the absolute best.

KSLA is lame, they like to tout that they have Emmy nominations...uh, you can nominate yourself for an Emmy. Just submit you vids, fill out the form and pay your entry fee.
What a joke! But then again, most hicks in this market wouldn't know that.

I think the Barack Shapiro comment came from the epic fail of LSU-interruptus when KSLA weather-douche's went on and on and on about bad weather about 100+ miles away in Tyler that didn't really amount to anything. Given the post is about weather, it seems a relevant reference. But then some people here demonstrate very short memories.
