KATV Tops in February Sweeps

Arkansas Business.com reports KATV/Channel 7/Little Rock swept the February sweeps. KATV won every local news time slot. For the most part KTHV came in second and bringing up the rear, KARK.  KATV General Manager Mark Rose tells Arkansas Business, “We had an excellent book. “I think our continuity with our people, with our product makes a lot of difference.”

You will find all the numbers HERE.

Congratulations to Nexstar executives for their decision to merge KARK with Fox thereby plunging KARK to the bottom of the barrel in ratings. The station will never move past last place status.

You're really going to hang your hat on Facebook? Even after you bought all those followers?

I know, for sure that facebook fans were purchased for KARK. Look at their fans and see how many of those are profiles form third world countries that only have one or two other friends. Although facbook may not allow people to see that info anymore. Oh yeah right... One lonely guy in Indonesia and he only follows KARK on Facebook! Sure, that's legit!

If you really want to know how this starts... Check out the hack of a Facebook page Arkansas Buzz. The page that lifts everyones content... them! They used to doop people into liking fake ads then like their page by mistake. Somehow a similar practice was put in place for KARK. Good job guys! You have fake friends! Congrats to the Manti Te'o of local news!

KARK ratings are roughly the same...maybe up a little bit and Facebook followers haven't gone up in months. Congrats to KATV on another strong ratings period!

THV? Not even worth talking about...

7 is king and I noticed the same thing about other two. Looking at those numbers I think the Biz Journal is as bias as they always are. It says 11 has 2nd wrapped up. That's just not true. Looks like 7 and then 4 / 11 pretty close.

7 is winner. 4 of 6 shows up
4 had 3 of 6 shows up
11 had 2 of 7 shows up

When 4 fell, they fell more than the other stations. 16 had a horrible book. way to go nexstar.

The new reporters at Fox Peacock are bad! Who does the hiring over there now, Stevie Wonder? They used to have a respectable group of broadcast journalists over there. It's just turned to crap.

FOX 16's 9pm News was up 22% book to book... what is so horrible about that?

At 9:12 AM, April 30, 2013, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Sure Fox at 9 pm is up...they have no competition in that time slot.
Look at the share of viewers across the board...7 has the lion's share, double that of the other stations. being number two or number three doesn't mean much when those stations cannot even come close to getting viewer share.

Who's watching Fox16 @ 9:00? I don't know anyone who does. They're all watching primetime network programming or Lou Dobbs Tonight.

Lou Dobbs for president! When that's not on, I only watch NBC's amazing primetime lineup. Best in the biz!

Really??? I don't watch my own network's primetime, and fewer and fewer viewers are doing the same.

I wish Allbritton could move some of their leadership over to Tulsa. Their station there is getting more and more pitiful by the day.

KATV on the auction block...

This from POLITICO as reported on TVSpy...

Allbritton writes he will look to “invest in or launch media companies that follow the POLITICO model of dominating targeted coverage.” Read his full memo here.

Allbritton owns seven stations: WJLA in Washington, D.C.; WHTM in Harrisburg, Pa.; WBMA in Birmingham, Ala.; KATV in Little Rock, Ark.; KTUL in Tulsa; WSET in Roanoke, Va.; and WCIV in Charleston, W.V. The company also owns NewsChannel8, a 24-hour local cable channel in Washington, D.C.

Now that weather set makes a bit more sense. New coat of paint on the car before we sell it.

Who puts a coat of paint on a car before they sell it? That made no sense.

Evidently ComCorp does. They repainted every time they were entertaining offers from Nexstar which was 4 times in 13 years.

A new coat of paint is often applied to old cars that have rust to hide before they are sold. Oldest trick in the book.

All the stations have really started to suck in the last couple of years. especially 4,11 and now 16.
