Any idea when Matt Turner will be formally introduced at KTHV? I heard he was in meetings on last week with KTHV management and signed a contract.

Matt will anchor the evening news for THV
Doubt it. He would have already been there by now. Something hit a snag. Probably not enough money. Somebody will have to get punted.
Matt has already signed a contract with THV, and he'll be an evening anchor taking Craig O'neal's place.
Craig is headed to the morning show. Should make THV more competitive there as Craig will provide a much needed lift.
Is it true that someone from the morning show will be going to the evening broadcast to co-anchor with Matt? And if so, where will the current female evening anchor go? Will she join Craig on the morning show?
If any of this is true about Matt Turner and evening anchoring at Thv and Craig O'Neill on the morning show, why does management at THV allow these leaks? I wouldn't think management would want this info out there in the blogoshere. Or does management plant them in order to see what the reponse will be.

why does Jonathan Martinez wear the same jacket every night? Did cheap Nexstar cut out clothing allowances too?
A handful of folks get information and cannot wait to pass it along. If the most powerful people in the world can't stop leaks there is no chance for tv stations and lineup changes.

To me management should be able to figure out who is leaking and stop it. It shouldn't be that hard to figure out. Those posting all this must not be too afraid of any consequences. It seems very unprofessional for management to allow this kind of information to get out.

They may be waiting to roll all the changes out when the new season of programs roll out. Just my guess.
Do you know for sure or have proof that Matt has ben hired at KTHV? He has spoken to KATV and KARK. They have an interest in him as well. Just because he was walking around a newsroom deosn't mean he has been hired. It just means he was walking around a newsroom.
It seems that THV is getting ready to make some big changes? Whether it's this guy or somebody else. I like their morning show but the evenings need help.
I work at THV and we've not been told anything yet. But you can sense that some kind of big shake-up is about to happen, and we need it. I hope our GM doesn't stop with the anchor team -- I hope he shakes things up in our news management team too.
@ 647: KATV & KARK are not looking for evening anchors. THV, on the other hand has been looking to make some changes in the evening broadcast. The evening broadcast ratings are down and in order to stay competitive and fresh changes have to be made.
KATV is looking for weekend though.

As a viewer, I can tell you I like the THV morning team. It seems like they all like each other and work together well. I say leave them alone. but then, my opinion probably doesn't matter.
They are about to slice n' dice the morning and evening teams. Just wait.
I take it that Matt Turner is taking Craig O'Neals place, but what about Liz? Is she leaving too and if she does, where will she go and who will take her place?
I think Matt Turner & Alyse Eady would make a great evening team.
I don't think they'll move Alyse off the morning show. Craig will join Ashley and Alyse and Liz and Dawn will be working with Matt. There are entirely too many anchors at THV!
I've heard that Craig and Liz are both leaving the evening broadcast, but it could just be a rumor. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

With Matt joining THV it seems like there will be too many anchors. Month after month they talk about cutting the budget, but adding another anchor is adding to the budget.
Why was the above job announcement for evening anchor not publiciized internally or in Central AR?
Liz leaving evenings? That would surprise me. She doesn't have a morning personality but she's the breadwinner for her family and has to work. No way she's giving up her job in evenings.
Liz may not have a choice but to leave evening. Craig isn't leaving because he chooses to leave, but rather management told him it wasn't working out. The evening broadcast with Craig and Liz has terrible ratings. At the end of the day it's about RATINGS. Liz doesn't dictate to management, but vise versa. Adding Matt Turner and leaving Liz doesn't make sense. I'm almost certain Liz will be following Craig out the door.
Liz will NOT be going to mornings. Craig might. Still no word on the hiring or not of Matt Turner.
I agree that Liz wouldn't be a good morning match, but however, I thought she was good doing the weekend anchoring and weekend anchoring isn't driven by ratings like the weekday evenings. THV's goal of making changes is to increase ratings and to become more competitive.
I think Matt Turner and Alyse Eady would make a great duo. Alyse is so polished, articulate, and professional; she is also very striking in beauty and personality. I think THV realizes what a talented gem she is. She definitely has the "it factor" needed to be successful. I expect to see her in a top five market before too long.
I agree that Alyse is showing great potential but she had s rocky start. The first few months were awful. Thank goodness she's improved. Behind Dawn, she has the second best delivery when reading the news. Way too young to be an evening anchor though.
The buzz is that she interviewed for the weekend position at 7. Can anyone confirm?
Alyse has turned into a hot commodity. She already has headhunters trying to recruit her into larger markets.
I don't blame her for interviewing at 7 if that's even true. Get out of the THV trap while you can! That goes for the reporters too. The good talent has migrated to 7 and 4.
Interesting about Alyse and KATV. Does anyone know if that is true?
I heard that KATV is trying to recruit her to take Heather Crawford's place, but I think Alyse is happy at THV. She's very driven but I think she'll stay put at THV for a while, and then she'll go to a larger market.
I don't see Alyse leaving THV anytime soon. She is well liked by management and has a good connection with Ashley & Tom that translates on camera.

Why would she give up a full-time anchoring job for a part-time one? That would be a step down.
Going from weekday mornings to weekends would be a demotion. I don't think Alyse is looking to go backwards, but rather forwards.
Everyone in the building laughs at the way Alyse and her loser friend keep posting positively about Alyse. They post the same exact comments on multiple threads. Multiple people have spotted Alyse on here and the rumor is she is paranoid that she will be demoted to a 'morning reporter' role here because the ratings have tanked since she came on the show. I thought Alyse would be a natural on the desk but the truth is she stammers and stutters like a the new kid at a special school. Apparently she thinks the bosses read this blog and are influenced by it...what a laugh.
@700: You sound very delusional and it's quite obvious that you're a hater. Alyse might be new to the profession, but without a doubt she is one of the best anchors in Arkansas. Anyone with eyes and ears can see and hear how good she is. Jealousy is such a ugly trait. Instead of being jealous and hating, why not work on your craft so you do not get left behind.
I work at THV and find think she's a joy to be around. I'm no one important at the station, but she treats me like someone who is. The above poster is a disgruntled employee who probably still thinks Alyse shouldn't have been hired. She's a class act and I for one am proud to have her at my station. The running joke is Tom Brannon because everyone knows he's the only staffer who is dumb enough to look at the blog on his work computer. Doubtful any of the other anchors care what we babble about on here.

THV cracks me up. They bash their own. I work at a station with lower ratings but at least we know how to work together and we're happy to see each other succeed.
I'm the above poster and forgot to add this. Even in my newsroom, we all know about Tom and his obsession with this blog. Small town, word gets around. Just thought that was interesting.
Some people at THV are bitter at Alyse because she was hired as a anchor right out of college. They're bitter because she has excelled and is doing a terrific job as a anchor. They're bitter because she has a very bright future that will take her places that they can only imagine about. Small minded people come on here to belittle others that they are jealous of. My suggestion is to not pay them any attention. While Alyse is going higher and higher in her career, they'll still be hating from afar.

Got a laugh this morning on KATV's mid day news. I think Chris Kane was the news anchor. He reported that Democrat Rule had been arrested for "Drinking While Intoxicated"
And today Sara Fortner on THV said "scientifical" data. Seriously?
Will someone please get rid of the valley girls at channel 11? Lauren Clark and Ashley Blackstone. No style and they talk like high schoolers. "Totally" "for sure" and "I know, right?!" are phrases that don't belong on air! No wonder Ashley has been stuck at THV for years and Lauren will never move up if she doesn't get a better vocabulary.

Alyse has the right mix of personality, warmth, & comes across as a real person. No doubt she will grow & become even more "polished" but for someone "green" she if off to a great start.....has much potential. She comes across as a naturally happy person & that in itself will enable her to go very far. THV should do everything they can to hang onto her. Some of the other women reporters need to "polish" up, this is a "in the public eye" position. Can't THV get free hair/makeup stylists from partnering w/ a local upscale salon, which some would do for the free for the PR publicity itself? Alyse has that part down already & it shows....probably because of her pagent background, but her personality & inside beauty also comes across through to the viewers. That rare combination will take her far.
