KARK Parent Company Names New Station GM, Promotes Rogala
Arkansas Business.com reports KARK's parent company Nexstar has promoted Rick Rogala to company vice president and regional manager and Northwest Arkansas GM Mike Vaughn comes to Little Rock and becomes GM and vice president of KARK.

Rick will live in Little Rock and work out of the KARK building. Of course, he will frequently travel to other stations.
Rick is a big plus for the station and the company. He is a really nice person.
Come on people, Rick gets a nice percentage based bonus every quarter for cutting costs anywhere. MacDonald's doesn't make hamburgers..they make money.

I would say Simas is Beantown bound !!! She is from that area. With her and S. Tonsall leaving, boy does that open up a can of anchors. Whose going to replace Simas, Dean or Suares? Inquiring minds !

Well, my guess would be just about anyone could replace them.
Tonsall is replaceable. She is likely frustrated she's been over looked for years. Yea, she's an anchor but not even on the main channel.
Suares is so much better than dean.
If melissa simas leaves, jessica dean is next in line but wouldn't help ratings. Honestly, this isn't being mean, just honest, she could lower ratings.
Perhaps a "stacked bob" to the chin or to the jawl would make her (J.Dean) more professional looking and would add to her credibility. It needs some bounce and movement.

It's all a matter of opinion. It's not about the style, it's about what looks best on the individual. Some look better with long hair, some look better with short. Depends on the face shape, etc.
Here is what it is all about: Being able to read, good voice, correct pronunciation of words, able to ad lib, knowledge of Arkansas geography and a good on-camera personality. 'nuf said.
The top 3 female anchorss in the LR market are Dean, Suares, and Terrell but not necessarily in that order.
The top 3 male anchors are Hankins, Inman, and Clausen.
Jessica Dean is hawt! Anyone who says otherwise is jealous.
I think Kevin Kelly blows everyone else out of the water and I have no affiliation with klrt.

Is Massey still beating Simas and Munoz at 10:00 pm? Did KLRT beat regular programming? Who us first in the morning? I'm sure KATV wins at 5 & 6 !!! What were the ratings? We can handle the truth.

KATV is #1 at 10. KTHV is number one at 5am & 6am. Guess those gas cards didn't work! Ha!! And as usual.... KARK was #3 in both. Haha!!!

You got it. THV #1 in the morning and 7 #1 everywhere else. THV had one of the best morning books they have had in a very long time.
I wouldn't say that. 7 and 4 were down and 11 was up by a tenth of a point over last year. However they did dominate in demos. Although 7 did their best to "buy" the book from viewers, and that did fail. It may be about book placement more than anything else. Nielson has been very good to 7 over the last couple of years with a lot of books placed in SE Arkansas - where 7 does dominate. You have Dale Nicholson to thank for that. It'll be interesting to see this time next year since 11 will have Alyse on board and 7 will Alyson. Both were missing during the May book this year. Also, look at how changes will continue at 4 and 7 over the next several months with Beth leaving and possibly Barry as well to a different daypart. KARK has to replace Mike - who carried that program for them. 11's show will stabilize with Alsyse, Ashley and Joey the Cat.
HD? Did it make any difference? Sounds like not.
THV desperately needs a local home grown GM that knows the Little Rock tv market!
I work at 11 and I can honestly say people like 12:26 make me sad. We won the morning but 7 won everything else and 4 had a bad book. I can't stand reading excuses like 'bad book placement is to blame.' Every station uses that as an excuse when we lose but when we win of course we never talk about it. Its just so lame.
I like it when KARK asks the "tough" questions to get to the bottom of the investigation.
KARK did not report any more than KTHV, KLRT and KATV did.

I think 4 has a lot of good people and deserves to do better in the ratings, but they should stop throwing the word investigation around...it looks a little silly and it cheapens their few stories that truly are investigative.
It's just eyewash and someone came up with the idea that they would call themselves "Investigators" and trying to sell it to the viewers. You are right. It is becoming annoying to say the least. Also, I am tired of hearing "In High Definition" on every promo they run and all the bumpers. Just about wore it out.
Add to that: when will thv stop saying "first in hd" at the beginning of every newscast?

I hear and agree with you but at least KARK has an HD shot by every studio camera, unlike KTHV that is rumored to have surveillance cameras in the weather garden and look, well, like Hell. Does not management ever look at a newscast? Hard to believe.
So, I guess they are the first with every camera shot in the studio being HD.
I don't know what kind of tv you all are watching THV on, but the surveillance cameras they have look fine and HD to me.
Quick question: is KATV in HD? I've seen their promos saying they are, but when i watch their newscasts it sure doesn't look like it.

Well, you must be a management person at KTHV which would explain why you think the surveillance cameras look HD to you. That is what I would say if I were trying to defend a shoddy looking product. And, by the way, KATV looks better in SD than that surveillance camera. Also, it must be mounted on a post since it is always shoot down on the subjects. What a joke. Also, why the need to do the weather outside? I see that KTHV Channel 12 has abandoned the "Weather Board" in the garden since they could not get the "Chroma Key" thing to work right. Good job and great decision. Do you need someone to light the set so it will work? Contact the people at KARK, KATV, KLRT or even KETS.
There are 3 survillence cameras for reporters in the newsroom and several more in the weather garden. They are HD but we can all guess how HD a $1,000 to $3,000 camera is.
The only HD cameras are the 3 in the studio.
Channel 4, Fox and Channel 7 all have HD capable cameras for all their photogs in the field but I guess Channel 11 only cares about the anchors face time

I was wondering the same thing. Saw the katv promos that say "KATV in High Definition" but I dont see it.
KARK or KLRT have the best HD. Is KTHV planning on getting HD cameras for the field?
