Fort Smith Station Hopes Viewers Rise Before the Sun

KHBS/KHOG-TV is expanding their weekday morning news. Starting Monday, April 18th, 40/29 News Sunrise will start at 4:30am.

Anchor Derek Burleson, and Meteorologist Matt Devitt will be joined by a team of field crews who will be providing live updates of overnight news events, along with preview coverage of significant local news stories throughout Fort Smith, The River Valley and greater Northwest Arkansas.

“As the lifestyles of our viewers change, the news we deliver must change with them,” said 40/29 President and General Manager, Brian Sather. “Not only will our early morning viewers get local news earlier, but we’re adding resources to provide them more local news and weather,” added 40/29 News Director, Dawn Dugle.

I'm not sure of the value of rolling back news that early. 5:00 made sense since a lot of folks set their alarms between 5 and 6. But I don't think there are really that many viewers up and at 'em at 4:30. But if they want to brag about being on at 4:30, they are more than welcome to.

Wouldn't be the first time 40 tried to copy Ch. 5. Anyone notice how it seems like they went and tried to get a carbon copy of Ch. 5's blonde anchor? Like the episode of "fresh prince" where will tried to find another Ashley, lol.

40/29 will be an also ran until Craig hangs it up. He did a lot of good for the company but now needs to step aside. He's doing more harm than good.

40/29 could simulcast 5 News....god knows it wouldn't hurt their ratings..might even bump them up some.

I can only guess they are doing this because it's the only newscast that they are winning. They should be focused on the evening cast. They use to be the dominant player in NWA and now are in 3rd. The gap in the RV is huge. 5 owns the RV and the total DMA. KNWA is even right behing them in total market and carry NWA at 10pm. They've made changes at every management position. Not a pretty place to be.

40/29 is not winning anything...winning a demo slot for 1/2 hour does not mean winning the overall picture. I'll bet it was some kind of fluke...still waiting for a post about the last book.

Feb book...
KFSM wins across the board in everything except AM. KHBS comes in second in everything but AM. KNWA is third but is really close at 10PM to KHBS.
NWA only...
Very close race. KFSM wins 5&6 and KNWA wins 10. KHBS really struggling.

I FEEL SORRY for anyone who has to work under DAWN DUGLE.

Dawn Dugle is as UGLY on the inside as she is outside. She's EVIL, the most INCOMPETENT news director EVER, she treats her employees HORRIBLY, and she's the reason why 90 percent of KHBS/KHOG's newsroom staff has left.

A bit of advice for Anchors/ Reporters/Producers/Meteorologists, if you're looking for employment, and you happen to see the name "Dawn Dugle News Director" listed ANYWHERE, RUN as fast as you can and NEVER look back!

Believe me there's no amount of money listed on a contract worth working for Dawn Dugle.

I promise you'll regret signing any contract with her.
