A tipster tells Arkansas TV News former KARK anchor Carolyn Long is back on the Little Rock airwaves after 20 years, she's been anchoring THV This Morning with BJ and Tom all week.

She has aged well.
20 years? I thought she did a gig in NWA until a few years ago.
Regardless, yeah she's aged well but she ain't the Carolyn Long we all fell in love with.
Don't know if this is just a part-time gig until the other gal comes back, but Carolyn has lost the edge that landeded her "sweetheart" status years ago.
Take a hint from Anne Jansen, HDTV's not doing you any favors!
Dawn Scott should also heed this advice. She too has lost much of her zeal.
Pearson got it right, he moved to radio.
And before anyone spouts off about aging female anchors, I'm not talking about physical attributes, Carolyn and Dawn just seem tired and uninterested.
Just my thoughts.

I worked with Caroline in the early 90's at KHOG. She's a wonderful person and I'm glad to see her back on the air. They don't all have to be 23 year old bubble-heads..........
Carolyn Long belongs in the Hall of Fame of Hotties, glad to see her back - and Meredith Mitchell is Rookie of the Year of Hotties -nothing in this region come close to her hotness!
The G.E. 300 series studio cameras would be kind to her.
It was so great to see Dave Woodman on channel 4 this morning. He is such a pro and genuinely nice guy. Also the contrast between his skills and personality, alonside Melissa Simas, could not be stronger. How can she even be on the same air as Dave? And how can Matt Mossler come back and sit in the chair that Dave occupied for even a day? People like Dave just show how far places like KARK have fallen.
The above poster is correct. Things were better back in the good old days of Paul Eels and others. How much better was Denise Whitaker than the LR anchors now? How much better was Robyn Richardson than anyone in the a.m. shows now? It was better back when.
Tipster my rear end. Anyone with the TV on in the morning has noticed this. This blog is really starting to suck. Maybe it's time to sign off and enjoy life in the boondocks. It's obvious you've lost touch with the central Arkansas scene.

Dave Woodman is a breath of fresh air - so professional. You could see how he commanded respect from Melissa Simas - and they worked well as a team.
That works so much better than a cute girl having to put up with 2 gay guys yucking it up in the morning.

Great to see Carolyn on the air all week, and neat to see Dave this morning on ole' Channel 4. We are all 20 years older. I'm not as cute as I was twenty years ago, either. One thing is constant, these two remain class acts.

Today's TV is a vast wasteland. On occasion, personalities like Dave W. show up and remind us of how TV used to be. For one thing, no infomercials! KARK and KTHV are eaten up with them.

I'm really going to age myself, but on Monday it was cool seeing Carolyn interview someone from Easter Seals. Both she and Dave Woodman spent year's on the Easter Seals telethon. I watched those things as a kid with interest, and now have a child at Easter Seals. She remarked about how much Easter Seals meant to her. The good people at Easter Seals and her colleagues at that time had alot to do with it's good name.

Dave and Carolyn appeal to audiences who want REAL personalities. Not those who are fake and shallow.
When I see Dave, I think of the old-style, pompus, Ron Burgundy, "voice of god" anchors that are relics better left in the past. And it does NOT command respect.

Imagine a Melissa Simas on Anne Pressly or Melissa Simas on Jessica Dean or Melissa Simas on Kristen Fisher or Melissa Simas on Joan Early. These pairings would be every mans fanatasy!
Melissa Simas is awful and has no personality from what I can tell. No offense Melissa. You're just not that good.
Why has this all turned south here? Why the sexual references? As for Melissa, she's a lovely lady, quite bright, and the people who work with her like her and respect her.
How about every morning on the opening segments they get the
w i d e s h o t of the studio and pan this way, and pan that way and kill about 45 seconds with music that most of the time does not belong on tv morning shows.

She sure did. Back in the day when the tv biz basically had a license to print and spend money.

I noticed all the local television "HISTORIANS" failed to mention some other notable LR anchors that the made the news what it was in 70's and early 80's. Roy Mitchell, Bud Campbell, Carolyn Long, Tom Bonner, Ron Sherman, Hosea Sanders, Steve Barnes, Greg Hurst, Susan Rosegen, etc. The above were TRUE TALENT. Today's MICKEY MOUSES are farsical. This group didn't need bells and whistles. No "fancy" titles. Solid reporting w/out the hype.
Yay for Little Rock. Dave Woodman and Carolyn Long. Yay for them, too. Wish I could invite them into my Western Arkansas living room every night. I'd TiVo em just to get smooth, unflappable delivery.

Yes, the good ole days of TV have come and gone and maybe the cameras are not "kind" to some but the voices and talents are still the same . . . excellent in every respect.
