KTAL ND Jumping Ship?

From a tipster: I hear the KTAL news director Paul Bergen is planning to jump ship pretty soon and has only been there since March or April. I hear he's planning to leave Shreveport to get married!! He did all this damage and now he is going to pack his bags and leave.

It's true, Mr. Paul has let some people know that his love life will take him away from KTAL. The only hope for that station is if he is marrying Scott Thomas so he can be taken away too. Other than Scott Thomas & Todd Warren, Paul B. is 3rd most hated by people who work at KTAL.

i find it funny how all this gets stirred up by 'anonymous' comments... be a man (or woman) and put your name on your comment... or don't post them at all.

So are we to assume that your name is "notsoanonymous"?

Still seems pretty anonymous to me.

I really hope this isn't true.

He's probably wondering why he was hired in the first place since micromanager Scott Thomas thinks he can run the newsroom. Even tho he knows ABSOLUTLEY NOTHING about news or the industry for that matter.
You can't blame him for not wanting to stick around, as long as Thomas is there, nothing will get better. Why? He only cares about the sales department and making $$$.

Paul Bergen has an exceptionally fine character with high ethical standards, integrity, and strong interpersonal skills. He treats people with respect, charity and justice. Your negative comments cast aspersion, which degrade Paul’s dignity.

Mr. Bergen’s high esteem for his family and his relationships with others is to be praised. A differentiated person’s occupation supports their primary life goals of intimacy, generativity and integrity. I encourage those casting aspersions at Paul to engage in their own in depth inventory of the moral standards they possess and examine their own developmental life goals.

There is nothing wrong with spending time with your family...we all have one but he knew when he took the job as news director it was going to be a commitment.
You can't run an organization, no matter what it is, and not be commited.
It's all about finding a balance, and he makes it clear he's not fully commited to the station, or the market for that matter.
He was in the beginning. Not anymore.

Maybe Paul Bergen got caught up in the firestorm between the young rookie reporter named Lane Luckie and the general manager. Bergen knows what the truth is, and maybe he's ashamed for not standing up for his hire after he told him the name change was not a big issue. Maybe, just maybe, his conscience hurts him for having no backbone and trying to force a talented young reporter to go against his principles.

This from an insider at KTAl. Paul Bergen has turned in his resignation at the station. It's not his love life...he got caught in the middle between GM and the young reporter who refused to change his name. Maybe Bergen does have a conscience and some ethical principles after all. It's a little late though. His reputation is tarnished over this whole tawdry episode about the name change for Lane Luckie.

It appears that both Bergen and Luckie are the unfortunate victims of GM Scott Thomas' increasingly successful attempt to run KTAL's news department straight into the ground. Both are extremely talented and standup people from what I understand. Best of luck.

It can't work in fact, that is exactly what I believe.
