KTHV: 6 nominations (News excellence, Newscast-Morning/Daytime Markets 50+, Religion, Documentary-Historical, Photographer/Sports, Arts & Entertainment)
KLRT: 3 nominations (Newscast-Morning/Daytime Markets 50+, Newscast Evening 50+ and Newscast Weekend 50+)
KATV: 2 nominations (Newscast - Evening 50+ & News Excellence)
KARK: 1 nomination (Newscast - Evening 50+)
KAIT: 1 nomination (Newscast – Evening Markets 101+)
KNWA/KFTA: 1 nomination (Commmmercial - Single Spot)
AETN: 1 nomination (Documentary - Cultural)

First of all, congratulations to all the nominations!
Second, can someone explain why KATV submitted a *promo* for award consideration, but not a single on-camera talent nod? If one of your anchors wins or even gets nominated, you can put that in a promo and show how good your product is; if your promo wins or gets nominated -- what, are you going to run a promo saying 'look at how good our promos are'?!

I'm in disbelief that KTHV didn't win a nomination for weekend weather. Meredith Mitchell is the best/hottest anchor in the region.
She carries KTHV all on her own.

Wait a minute. I believe they had back-pack-goggle-boy on location during some rain and wind. Doesn't that count for something?

Back in February when severe weather was really active all the networks started their morning shows early at 4:30 instead of 5:00 cuz all the meteorologists in the market said the city was going to get snowed in. KLRT did a special edition morning show that day as well, with their normal nightside producer and anchor team. It's the only morning show they did all year, but only three stations in the entire region submitted shows for consideration, so they got the nomination by default.

Of course it would count. It was a show in the morning time slot and it was nominated. That's all you need for it to count. Personally, I think it would be hilarious.
How does KAIT even go on the air. I didn't think they had running water much less electricity in Jonesboro.
Yalanda Young is hott at Kait so as long as she is there running water or anything else is not necessary. Maybe if she wore a bikini.
Am I missing something? Yalanda Young is a nice looking girl but she is nothing special compared to most of the women on air in Little Rock.

While all three of the other networks have been bringing home more hardware since KATV started its backslide, KTHV definitely seems to be surging forth the most. While I congratulate them on their success, I have to admit I lost a great deal of respect for them when Craig O'Neal moved over to doing news. I wouldn't mind if he was only doing the community journalism segment, but reading hard news stories is just too much. Call me old-fashioned, but I think you need to build up credibility in news before you move into that kind of role.

By the way, is anybody going to the ceremony in St. Louis in October? I and another producer from this station are going, didn't know if anybody else from the market will.

6 nominations is great- but three of them are non news entries:
religion
historical doc
arts and entertainment
So what with the "non news entries." Who cares?? Shows KTHV is doing good coverage in every area. That's why they were nominated as well for News Excellence. I think that says a lot.

Actually, they were all news entries - Religion & Arts/Entertainment were both 'Extras', and the Documentary was the Central High 50th special that also won a National Edward R. Murrow Award.
Just sayin'.
