Leave Dawn alone? She is the one putting this in the public eye. Also, I don't think this is positive or negative, just information.

Please no video clips of her on the air....

Just had an epiphany.... did I spell that right ?

Melissa Simas is now what Dawn Scott used to be. Simas is cute, smart, endearing and intelligent. She's the girlfriend, sister, friend, granddaughter and daughter of her viewers. Have to admit, she's making mornings great at KARK.

If you want to be left alone.. do NOT take an anchor job on television. That is, unless you want to work in Jonesboro and be really anonynmous !

Good point.. go gripe at KTHV for posting the information on their site.. or gripe at Dawn for allowing the shoot.. or gripe at the baby, for that matter

First of all, Dawn is one of the nicest people I've met who works on TV. As for her blog and appearances on TV during her maternity leave, it's all THV. They were on top of her the next morning after she had her baby for pictures and info. She has not complained one bit, because she knows she is in the public eye and that is what is expected of her. She is trying to make her blog and TV updates that they are MAKING her do as interesting as possible. As for her weight, I've seen her. She's lost most of it, and she looks great. And as for her being some kind of "has been," you should go on THV's website, read the messages to her on her blog, THEN try to say that viewers can't stand her. They love her now, just like they did when she used to work here.
And as for her replacing Andy Pearson? That's crap. The reason the station didn't renew his contract is between Andy and THV, and it has NOTHING to do with Dawn's return.

true, but thanks Larry. I'd talk her up too if I let the only good male anchor in Arkansas go for a once young and cute female. Hey Larry how's TJ holmes doing at CNN? YOU CLOWN!!! hahaha

Why is it that everytime a news anchor has a baby.. it's like the first baby that was ever born? Women have babies.. big deal! Just give me the news. I don't care about your personal life.

Are you referring to Larry the washed up anchor that Gannett took pity upon and bestowed a GM position or Larry the Cat?

Memo to parents out there:

The only people that *care* about your baby are you.

Your kids are never as cute to others as you think they are.

Your kids are never as entertaining to others as you think they are.

More times than not, your kids either remind people who have already had kids about how awful those first few months were or it drives the people who have not yet had kids yet to put it off for, well, ever.

--------------

Your kids are YOUR bundles of joy. Not ours.

Keep this crap off of the tv, for Pete's sake.

Why does this constitute news?
No one cares.

This is not news... this is a blog.

Wow--I'm thinking after some of those comments, most of you must not be parents.
No, I do not think the anchors or any other on-air personalities kids are "news" but they are interesting to viewers who want their local newspeople to be more than newsreaders. Everyone I know LOVES babies...as long as they are not the ones changing the diapers and getting up at night!
I may be just a little jealous over her maternity leave--HOW LONG will she be off? I had to be back in six weeks flat...pumping milk between newscasts etc. (I know...TMI)
It would have been nice to have a little more recovery/bonding time.....

Dawn will be back in a couple of months... just before the May book. THV will have some problems to deal with. It appears they are going to lose a more anchors (which is good news to KARK at KATV.

I'll have to say I haven't really missed Dawn. I do, however, miss Andy. Somebody screwed the pooch on this one.

At 4:17 PM, February 15, 2007, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Okay, no. 1, Dawn ain't going to lose weight. She's a mommy now. Watch her spread.

No. 2, Liz is great but the chemistry without Andy is skewed.

I agree with the previous poster: somebody fornicated the canine dumping Andy for Dawn. She's pablum. He's pasturized. Somebody need to hit the "hey wake up!" button over at 11.

Blame Larry Audass. He could have kept Andy AND hired Dawn.

It's not Andy's fault that Dawn's here and it's not Dawn's fault that Andy is gone. Perhaps if Gannett had hired a GM with some real station management experience, things might be different. Nonetheless, don't you worry about ole Andy. He's gonna be just fine.

Many of you haven't been around long enough to know that when previous KTHV management took Larry Audass off the air, he was replaced by Andy.

speaking of Andy... What is he doing now? does anyone know?

At 9:55 PM, February 16, 2007, Anonymous Anonymous said...

I understand that Andy may not have been the world's best co-worker, but he did have on air presence, and likeability.

THV's evening news is a little bland. It's not helped one bit by their colorless set. They had a vibrant and proud look that came with GM's past.

They better hope their morning crew remains in tact. It's really what seems to be driving that station, other than maybe a web product.

Can you name any news anchor in the market besides Christina Munoz who hasn't been labeled "hard to work with" by someone sooner or later?

Pearson was harder to work with than Larry Audas was/is or Steve Barnes or Dave Woodman or Anne Jansen? Hard to fathom.

Lots of whining among people in this town who have no depth of career experience and even less of an idea of what the audience wants.

At 9:09 AM, February 17, 2007, Anonymous Anonymous said...

I agree that the morning crew at THV is thier biggest asset. If they don't keep them in tact, I will officially write THV off as the dumbest decision makers in the market.

I don't care about Dawn's baby. I don't know her, and I don't care about babies. Maybe it's because I'm male. This isn't a comment on her as a person.

But I question the notion of putting your newborn child in a public forum like Ms. Scott is doing. It seems like a bad decision. Doesn't she care about privacy, or is she too blinded by her own vanity? Leave it up to a television anchor to exploit their kids the same way they're willing to exploit themselves.

Melissa Simas is no Dawn Scott.

She has a lisp, no sense of humor and has a northern accent.

Reminds me of no mother, sister or girlfriend I have ever had.

At 7:17 AM, February 18, 2007, Anonymous Anonymous said...

When you are in the public eye, you have no choice but to let people see your baby. You are considered a snob if you don't, and exploiting the child if you do? Viewers think they know you, and they get in your child's face when they see you in public. Please, get off her case. She is doing what we all have to do when we have a baby, whether you want to or not.

I could care less about Dawn or her baby. My family, friends and all who weren't already watching channel 7 switched when Andy left. It's not the same without him no matter how hard they try.

It also doesn't matter to me or the rest of the viewing public what kind of coworker they were, what their baby looks like or anything else about their personal affairs unless it's "crazy news." The only thing that matters is how they deliver the news and come across on TV. Are they likeable or not, credible, feel like family, etc. Andy did. Dawn didn't the few times I watched. Noone cares about the rest.

Andy's gone. All are watching seven now. It's starting to grow on us but will never be the same.

Thanks Larry. Thanks ALOT. Sheeze.

Please get a life, People...One would think that the local news talking heads are the most important factor in your lives...
Don't you know that most viewers
turn to local news only when severe
weather or extreme local violence occurs? Besides, news teams spend most of their on-air time as cheerleaders or lobbyists for local corporations, sports
teams, and advertisers...But I must say, Anne Jansen and Christine
Munoz are classy and hot! Andy P
was so affable and telegenic, but his weight was getting in his way, a fact of life for anchors of either gender...television is television...unless your name is "Rosie"...(Loved the "Memo to Parents"..if one is going to blog, at least be funny or witty)....wait, I see breaking news...Andy shaved his head and got a tattoo...Look out, Dawn!...

No personal offense to Ms. Jansen, but I had some carpet back in the 70's that looked EXACTLY like some of her blazers. I'm not exaggerating.

Sorry but you know Anne and her doctor husband have to be pulling in some serious six-figure dough. Couldn't she spend an extra thou a year to update?

At 8:41 AM, February 19, 2007, Anonymous Anonymous said...

The fact of the matter is people mainly watch a particular newscast because they like the people delivering it better than another station. You can have mediocre content, but if you have a great team of likable people, you will have more veiwers. It will be interesting to see how the ratings pan out for 11 with Andy and Dawn both gone if Feb. We won't get a true picture of how letting Andy go will affect them until May when Dawn is back.

At 5:21 PM, February 19, 2007, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Maybe she's got a deal at a carpet store.

Classy and Hot...like 70's shag!

Interesting how many of you say that you don't think this is news worthy. You have posted 36 comments.. more than any other news story on this blog. If you don't care, why continue to express your utterly worthless chatter. Perhaps if you actually believed yourselves you would have better things to do than worry about whether Dawn and her son need your approval.

All these posts have been made because the writers (like myself) are bored and being unproductive. Same reason we watch the KATV weekend morning show -- keeps us from boredom so severe that we begin cutting ourselves!

Why are we writing you ask? Eh, let's face it. It's fun to be able to be an anonymous bitcher. When we're able to bitch about things that really do bother us and it still remain anonymous then we're really going to go at it.

Reread the posts. Same message just with different words.
In summary, noone wants or cares to hear about "D..yawn and the baby." She's like a big dumpsite. Too easy to trash. Same goes for Anne and her oh so blah blazers.
We all miss Andy P and his integrity and professionalism and wish he were back.
We knew Larry(A) aka Mr. I'm KTHV was stupid already but by these actions they may as well have stamped it on his forehead and changed their website to www.we'reidiotsatkthvandwewantto ENSUREyouknowit.com

At 9:48 AM, February 27, 2007, Anonymous Anonymous said...

With comments like D..yawn and calling her a dumpsite you display obvious lack of integrity and any worthiness of respectablilty as a human being. Ironically, those qualities you say you respect in Andy Pearson. Are you a professional or a whiny name-caller with all the maturity of a junior high bully.
Also interesting you key on important issues like Anne Jansens Blazers... more surface level shallowness that you yourself say has nothing to do with the news and further identifies your level of personal development. A perusal of THV's website will reveal hundreds of supportive comments FROM VIEWERS for Dawn and her family which is what any news station is interested in...Not the petty namecalling, overt immaturity, and valueless opinions of a disgruntled, unfulfilled industry blogger. I'm a professional thank you. Doctorate if you honestly care. Not that it matters to you or anyone else though. You're obviously a little too caught up in this blog and the "who's" in life to even ask a question like that or get riled up by remarks on a blogsite.

There are more important issues to be concerned with in life don't you think? Do you really take all this so seriously? If you do and it bothers you so much I'd suggest you stop reading because you're not going to find anything hugely insightful or mind developing.

Is it not obvious this is just a site to blow off steam and act like a kid in jr. high and be able to get by with it?

If you're wanting more I suggest finding an enlightening book, taking a class or even working crossword puzzles. ANYTHING is more mentally provoking than reading this. In case you don't realize, it all seems to be a joke and that's how I take it.

Now go put a bandaid on your toes and get over it sweetie. Lighten up.

I was just glancing through some of the blogs tonite and there seems to be a little "dawn protector" on here.

How ironic is it that Dawn Scott puts herself in the public eye then feels the need to have some friend or coworker run around and say "leave dawn alone, leave dawn alone, don't pick on her, she's just trying to have a familily, yadayadayada" everytime her name is mentioned.

Why doesn't she find a job where she can work in a cubicle all day and save this person alot of trouble and time?

Next thought is why the heck do they do it? Obviously she wants them to as she allows it but why?

Weird.
