That dude's ego makes the galaxy look minuscule. I feel sorry for those who will have to deal with this prick.
Nooooo Kidding!! Couldn't have said it better myself!
he looks just like andy pearson!
Yes, but can he handle a WINTER STOOOOOORRRRMMMM?!?!?
Bring back Andy Pearson!
Why does this guy exist on TV? He is the reason I watch the other channels for sports if I wanted sick comedy I would find it, all I want is sports instead of (lip) service.
Translation again... Television stations are getting cheaper and cheaper! The product will suffer. What's next... just have the viewers send in their stories?
CNN is already doing that.
Did anyone see that old reporter gal from Bob Jones University on the Saturday KTHV Early News? She fronted a package concerning Senator Hillary Clinton's announcement of an exploratory committee being formed. She kept referring to the Senator as "Hillary" and the former President as "Bill." - Go back and review your AP Style Guide if you had those at Bob Jones University.
The newscast spent maybe a minute on a historical announcement - an announcement that includes the former First Lady of Arkansas running for President of the United States.
Of course being a Bob Jones University graduate, I'm sure she and the G.M. over there think Senator Clinton is an alien from another planet here on Earth to remove everyone's left nipple.
Charles Crowson will be a great addition to Today's THV. He's a good writer, a tremendous researcher and owns a great work ethic. Competitors beware. He's smart, confident and hungry.
Everybody say "HI ARAYANA!!!"
I guess Charles decided to write in.
Backpack Journalists are happening everywhere. Yes it's a cost cutting move, but it also allows for more on air reporters. Instead of having teams of reporters and photogs and even editors at some shops. You have one person. Lets say you have two reporters that only report. Then you need at least one if not two other people for their stories to hit air. So two reporters would require a minimum of 4 people if not more. With BPJs you can have 3 reporters and save one position towards the bottom line.
if you want to blame something, blame the web. The viewer is control of when they get their news. The days of waiting until 5 or 6 are over. Now with more reporters (BPJ's) you can cover more news and feed that need for news on the viewers schedule.
I'm guessing a majority of people that are on here complaining about BPJs are current photogs and editors that are worried about getting left out has TV changes.
Change is constant and change is not kind. It's going to happen wether you line it or not.
What a pathetic job. How can the guy have a huge ego, when he has, such a meaningless job ?
Who runs that newsroom? Gannett or KTHV?
"I'm guessing a majority of people that are on here complaining about BPJs are current photogs and editors that are worried about getting left out has TV changes."
I'm a photog - but I hadn't posted on this topic until now. Keep in mind that the cream always rises to the top - not always immediately, but it happens eventually. Those who possess the skills will stay around. Those who adapt will thrive.
It's more about quanity vs. quality - and the almighty dollar. Corporate types look at the bottom line. There is no denying that the TV business is changing rapidly - due in big part to the web.
Wish he would pack Craig O'neil's bag so that there would be sports not juvenile humor.
And most reporters are deadweights, and too lazy to shoot and edit their own stories. God forbid those princesses deal with shabby equipment and do a job with multiple duties!
A lot of photogs at KATV don't edit. Most of them claim to not even know how.
I'm sure he will do fine. he's a good reporter.
That new blonde anchor at KATV sucks.. and I think she really sucks.. how else would she have gotten that job ????
KFSM has hired a BPJ or two. Think other stations are also doing the same and using the BPJ for other duties like production past their reporting.
Too many places just hire BJ journalists.....
... or BJ Sams.
That would make a great advertisement for Channel 11's morning show!
" Start your day with a BJ ! "
Question is does letting crew become BPJ help or hurt. Lets the few of them that want more get a shot but is it really that good a breeding group for later on? False hope or another way forward for getting experience.
I don't think that letting more people be "backpack journalist" really helps that much. In the end you get a bunch of folks that are really not talent mucking up the works. A few might move past the BJP place and on to real journalist jobs. So I guess it is ok for that small minority. Otherwise you end up with a bunch of production crew thinking they are die hard journalists
BPJs are happening in everywhere. The move is going to stick. Cut your teeth in a small market like Little Rock and you cold move on to bigger and better things.
Being a BPJ is a real "journalistic" job. It just requires a little thing called effort. funny how kids today don't want to work, but they want the success.
He'll need more than a backpack to cover the WIIIINNNT...well you know.
Working hard is over-rated. Much easier to stand in front of a camera, holding a mic, with good hair
Stone Ward to KTHV. That has to be a huge paycut.
OK we need to have a best BJP award for the coming year. That way some of us can figure out who all these new people are
A couple of phrases come to mind in regards to this issue...
"Jack of all trades, master of none."
"You get what you pay for."
Quality suffers whenever you make a move like this. It's all about the corporate types cutting their bottom line. One person doing the jobs of two - wow, think of all the money you'll save. One set of eyes cannot pay as much attention to detail as two - it's black and white. You can't be in two places at once, but if you have a reporter/photog team on a story - it makes gathering pictures/sound/information quick and efficient. Don't get me wrong, I think that Mike Duncan does a good job in the BPJ role - and Charlie might do fine as well. I just think that you're trading quality for quanity - and if that's what you're after, then more power to ya.
I caused that rally brotha!
Houston Nutt II
Leave my dad alone!

Why does THV keep "cutting corners" when they bring in more revenue than any other station in the market? Who is getting the big bucks over there?
Larry the Cat.
3:08PM
You are confusing Larry the Cat with Larry the Washed Up Anchor That Gannett took pity upon and made a GM.
Ouch!
this guy is horrible!!!!
I worked for the guy when I was in college. He is a genuine, nice guy.
I work for Grandpa.
Dale Nicholson III
How can Dale Nicholson III even get in the air with a straight face? We all know he didn't have to compete for the job !
KTHV is very bad on job profiling and racial profiling as well and that entire bunch is very ignorant.
