KLRT News at Five Here We Come

The speculation is over at which evening time slot KLRT will insert an evening newscast. Arkansas Business.com reports KLRT GM Chuck Spohn says it will be at 5pm. The article says KLRT is adding eight new employees. The newscast is set to debut this spring and will be an hour long.

Appearantly this article is from the future. It's dated 1/15/07, but today is the 12th. Arkansasbusiness.com has sources everywhere and throughout time as well.

I don't think people want to see a 1 hour newscast and this really won't make much of a difference Arkansas Times published a article on fox 16 news "crazy like a fox and everyone should type this in the space bar and read the review.

That "Crazy Like a Fox Thing" - I've seen it posted about a few times now so I checked it out. That is from when they were brand new. Why do you keep posting about it? It makes no points that have anything to do with the threads you refer to it in.

As for people not wanting to see an hour newscast, the 9:00 news is pretty popular. People who are really into news are watching news at 9:00 and 10:00. Still, some watch just 10:00 and some watch just 9:00. I personally know some people who prefer the 9:00 news so they can get an extra hour of sleep since they have to get up so early.

As far as whether or not people will watch an hour at five, we'll see. It is right around dinner time and, in households with children, that can be a hectic time to try devoting an hour to. Still, their target demographic seems to be younger so that may not concern them. They're attempting something different. I don't see the harm in trying.

I wonder who will lose viewers to them.... 4?? 7?? 11?? 11 cannot lose anymore at 5.. they're already a low number 3. 4 doesn't want to lose any because they are on the heels of 7 and that could put them close to #3 in the only show they're number two in all day. if 7 looses some then 4 could battle for #1 at 5 for the first time in years and years. ...it'll be interesting to see if this makes the 5 numbers as close as the numbers are at 10.

People keep saying that the one hour format will not work at 5pm. At their sister station, KOKI-TV 23 in Tulsa, they started with just the 9pm and then went to a half-hour at 5:30pm. That worked so well they expanded within three months to a full hour starting at 5pm. And they recently added a three hour morning show and an hour noon show. I think if it can work in Tulsa it should be able to work for Little Rock. Why not?

Simple question: will the newscast or "Seinfeld" rerun have higher ratings?

You know Fox 16 is doing a pretty good job of covering the chaos in the Razorback football program. I am loving their reports.

Oh yeah? Well, I heard it from a reliable source that Frank Broyles has accepted the job at athletic director at UCA. They missed that completely. Mike Huckabee is taking over as AD at UA, abandoning his quest to be president of the U.S. When asked, he said he was simply opting for the position with the most power and authority. Where was that on FOX?

Wow I totally missed that. Thanks for providing such reliable information.

Wouldn't it be funny if Broyles went to UCA? Man, the media would have a field day with that one.

I have to agree about their Hogs coverage, especially in the last week. Raath seems to have some pretty good info. All this chaos in Fayetteville has to be one of the craziest stories I've ever followed in sports.

Channel 4 will have to get Dave Woodman to give more money away at 5pm to hold on to their 5pm ratings!
Those seniors love Woodman not their news.
