New Producer on the Way for KATV's Daybreak?
This from a tipster: "Evidently, KATV is looking for a new producer for Daybreak, and they are thinking about giving it to one of the PAs that work on the show. However, Jason Harper and Melinda Mayo are not big fans of these PA's."

That's what happened with KNWA's morning show, if I remember correctly. Intern to PA to producer within a matter of weeks. And we've all seen how well that's turned out. Has marks in the ratings, an overall train wreck of a show every morning and a cock, arrogant producer who thinks he's God's gift to television. KATV better watch out, or they'll have PA turnover under their new producer just like KNWA, where no one likes their AM producer.

most of Arkansas are not big fans of mayo or harper. Nothing better than some ugly 50 something, and a square waking me up.
They should hire people to watch the show!!!
I personally think Daybreak is an excellent show and I have not seen any animosity between the "PAs" and Harper and Mayo. Everyone there seems to get along great on that set as well as crew, so I don't know what everyone is talking about. And I think the Daybreak hosts are excellent, Mayo is a very professional, excellent person to work with as well as Harper who is great on and off camera. And, just a footnote, the PAs are excellent too. They would be an asset to the show.
KATV's morning show is headed down the same path as KNWA's if they hire PA's. The toilet.
I hope they promote all the PAs. They are all good folks and deserve a shot. The last time KATV quickly promoted a PA to Producer she did a great job. Hopefully more of the same will occur.
This sounds eerily similar to a backpack journalist becoming an anchor.
Looks like the ND is trying to hoard the coke and whore money.
Then again, maybe the next intern has a fast track to GM.

PA's get promoted all the time. it's no big deal. Look I'm no fan of KATV, I hope the choke on their own vomit, but hiring PA's is no big deal. You start out at the station and get expereince as a PA. You slowly get more experince producing and do other duties until a job opens up and you get promoted.
This is not an issue.

Rachel is in Chattanooga now. She was truly a great talent and everyone at channel 7 misses her. She was also easy on the eyes.
Why would you not promote your PAs? Come on guys none of you started out in the position you wanted. PA are training to be producers.

obviously a lot of people on this board know nothing about the business. PA's are promoted all the time, it's one of the best ways to get your foot in the door at a station you want to work for. Please, think through your arguments first. Otherwise it just shows your ignorance.
It will be hilarious if KATV chooses a PA to produce Daybreak, considering there are producers with experience who show it by taking their programs to the top in this very market. Sounds like someone at KATV just doesn't want to shell out a little dough for ratings security.

They hired a PA to be a reporter at KFTA from KNWA. I know that is a smaller station than what we are talking about but guess it happens. Can't remember the name of the girl.

Every job is about progressing, if a person doesn't move up then why stay at that job. People need to stop hating and worrie about doing there job. U go PA if you got what it takes forget the haters.
PA's used to gain experience in markets the size of Little Rock and then move on to be reporters or producers in smaller markets. At least, that was the way it used to be.
Well the KATV PA's are too dam country and whay don't they have a mixed virety of talent,(like seeing african amercians and other minorities instead of seeing anglo europeans)!
I misspelled that for a reason and i don't won't you to know who i am since i quit work for KATV and now i am spilling the beans and getting even with you!
KATV is hiring from outside for this position!!!! Management has already made that very clear.
