KATV to Pick Up Murrow Awards Monday Night
KATV will be given a couple of Edward R. Murrow Awards this Monday night, October 17. The event will take place in New York City and is sponsored by The Radio-Television News Directors Association. KATV will come home with awards in the for Best Documentary for 365 Days AND an Overall Excellence Award in the Small Market division.

Perhaps they should focus on covering the news and not winning awards.
Randy should win an award for breaking his word. Can't trust him ever... on anything.
Take this seriously people. It's a great honor and while KATV does some goofy stuff - at least this is keeping the hope alive that Mt. Ezexcial Olive Holy Chicken KTHV Church on Izard street will understand the importance of these types of awards. It's a morale booster and helps staffers who actually know the meaning of true journalism have hope. This is much more than throwing the stupid dart or watching a clown do the sports. Congrats!

Congratulations KATV. But I thought it was a bit much showing Randy and Dale accept the award on the news. Talking about giving yourself a pat on the back. I didn't see Randy and Dale take credit for a bad morning show, bad hires and bad firings.
Randy is a spinless weasle... he breaks his word and then blames everyone else. His job is to make Dale look like the good guy.
No one gives a crap about awards. If you define your career based on the number of awards you have, it's time to take a second look at your motives.
I have plenty of them and they're all sitting in the garage. It never got me a job, got me a raise or di anything but give me a free meal of rubber chicken on awards night.
OK, let's get real...when it comes down to it, it's all a matter of $$$ - your station has to be willing to pay hefty entry fees to enter the "major" awards contests - we're talking in the neighborhood of $200 PER ENTRY. If it's important enough to your employer, then you enter, and many times win. It's that simple. You can't win if you don't enter. KATV enters - good for them. They should pat themselves on the back and then get back to work. Nobody cares.

Those reporters couldn't think of a lead story idea to save their LIVES.
Most of them just sit back, file their nails, and wait for someone to hand them a story.
It's the truth!

Too many reporters are just NEWS GATHERERS... do nothing new or creative. How sad.
