Plagiarized Weather Blog?

Found an interesting topic on Media Line's Open Weather Line. It has to deal with the K8 weather blog and another weather blog on the World Wide Web. Strange how two posts on two different blogs are nearly the same, word for word. Check it out HERE.

If this was KATV we'd be ripping them a new one. But we know this couldn't be KATV, because that would require them to actually update their website.

This explaination was offered on later in the thread.

I will reply to the question at hand since it involves my weather office and our weather"blog".

The original blog post that BrewHaHa posted was never intended to show up on our site. I did not realize that it had posted to our site until I got up this morning and began the morning web discussion.

To clarify, we were using the post from 33/40 and other sites to show the rest of the weather office staff what we were looking for them to post on the site and what not to post. Looks like a mix match of what James posted on his blog wound up on our site this morning by accident as a rough draft. New staff, regrettable mistakes....

As soon as we discovered what happened it was corrected! We take great pride in what we do here and to have this happen not only sheds a bad light on our office and staff but the station as a whole.

Our apologies to the weather staff at 33/40 for the mixup. They are a fantastic group of meteorologists and we hope they understand. It is unfortunate that it happened. We all make mistakes, sorry that this one had to show up on the blog.

Chief Meteorologist
