Olmstead Returns, Leaves KNWA Sports

Arkansas Business.com reports, "Mike Olmstead, former sports anchor of KNWA, rejoined his team in Fayetteville as a reporter and anchor for about six weeks before leaving the station again."

AB.com says he was commuting back and forth from Tulsa where his family lived and was in the running for the sports job at KHBS/KHOG, but after not getting the job he decided to quit KNWA. The reason: "Things "just weren't moving fast enough" to justify moving the family back to Northwest Arkansas, he said.

If he was wanting the job at 40/29, what was he doing working at KNWA? No wonder he didn't get the job . . . . . . I wouldn't hire him either if he's working for the competition . . . . .

He realized KNWA is far worse now than it was two years ago when he left.

Mike is a good guy, very talented. So is Bo in his own way. I disagree thought, with running a station centered around sports. I suppose if the UA was having a better season it might play in their favor. But KNWA does not and can not produce coaches shows - doesn't carry them - doesn't carry Hog football/BB - so the effect is diluted. You pretty much need to own everything in the Hog franchise to make an impact. That's one of the reasons KATV has been successful at it.

I wouldn't go so far as to say Mike's a complete opposite of Bo as far as being a jerk - Olmstead had his moments, too when he thought he and his crew ran the station or that it was OK to treat everyone else like crap just because his wife may have been getting a raw deal at the time . . . .

Hog Nation is easily the best thing KARK has ever done on sports. Did you see what Mark pulled last night... Big Ole' Fish and the Yankees game. I can't believe they pay him to do that crap!
