From The Tip Jar: KNWA Gets Young AM Producer
From the tip jar: "New morning show producer at KNWA is a college student."
Maybe someone could give us a name.
UPDATE: This from another tipster: "KNWA morning producer name is Josh...was formerly, and recently, "Josh the Intern"."
8/25 Additional This from an e-mailer: "KNWA Morning Producer's Name is Josh Ridgeway...he's been on the University of Arkansas' TV station some. Pretty good on-air persona...wonder why he's producing and not on-air anymore."

They've gotta be better than whoever's running the show at KARK's morning show.
i've seen him...he's hot
Considering KNWA's morning anchor doesn't have a degree and one of their weather guys is still in college, this doesn't surprise me.
wow....you guys have GREAT tips....
KNWA has become "market 160". Fay/Fsm used to be a second job market - "go to Joplin (or similar) get some experience and come back". But now it's first job, no experience required. It's evolved into Univ of Arkanss Television, the Next Generation.
At least he'll be better than the morning show producer at KATV.... that show is a trainwreck largely because the girls work without a gameplan most days.
You gotta start somewhere. Our station, mid-70's, has a strong internship program. A few, the young people that shine, are invited back the next summer for a paid position, and from there--where an entry-level position is available--often hired.
In our newsroom there are four former interns working as producers, photgraphers, and reporters.
I recall an intern that I invtied back for a summer job and then after graduation, I offered him a full-time reporting position. He turned me down; took a job in a top 60 market; stayed two years and is now in Seattle.
It's not about a person's age, it's about how they are trained while they were an intern and what they can do for the organization once the internship is over.
He's already over-qualified to produce at KATV.
"It's not about a person's age, it's about how they are trained while they were an intern and what they can do for the organization once the internship is over." COMPLETELY AGREE!
I completely agree for the smaller markets to Ft Smith/Fayetteville or Jonesboro... Not for Little Rock.
For producers, it's about skills. For on-air female talent, it's about looks.

"i've seen him...he's hot"
Isn't KARK's morning producer a girl?
Yeah, KARK's morning producer is a girl...but we're talking about KNWA, and their morning show producer is a boy...
"Yeah, KARK's morning producer is a girl..."
Girl?? She's all woman!
KNWA has a morning show? Who would have noticed....
Do you know the abbreviation for KNWA's morning show?

KNWA's Morning Show is far better than anything else going in the market.
1) New producer, new ideas - it's only a matter of time before this "Josh the Intern" really gets the show cranked out. If he's young, he and Dana are going to really get the show to the target audience.
2) Dana Sargent. Let's see...she's hotter than Jennifer Haile and Bobbie Miller, so that's a definite plus...and besides being hot, she actually has on-air charisma.
3) New weatherman. He's not repulsive like other stations, he has a degree, and he's got personality, too. Plus, he's not in a stupid two-box when he's only three feet from the news desk.
4) The show is far cleaner, technically than anything else going in morning shows in Market 107. I don't know who they have, but the director must be pretty good also to carry out the show like that.
Has anyone actually seen or met this "Josh the Intern?"
great post there by the KNWA morning show director. It takes a real einstien to post about how a show is directed since no one cares. That is unless: YOU'RE THE DIRECTOR!
which totally erases all the good things you said about the overcoated in make-up dana sargent and the weather guy who has worked in NWA for two months and I still can't remember his name.
Well my buddy works at KNWA and he said he talks to the morning crew all the time and they can't stand "Josh the Intern" apparently as soon as he got the job he became "Gods gift to Producing" so we'll see how he works out.
in response to the last post...there is NOTHING worse than a "power trip" by a producer who is "young"...maybe still in college...etc...
gotta get your feet wet before going on a power trip...
i hear he's "god's gift to the women" ...but that's just the stuff *i* hear from the morning crew
i hear he's "God's gift to Dana Sargent," and we'll see that gift in about 9 months.
It's looking like this kid is fairly new at this. Considering the job is still on TV Jobs, the last time I checked. Before we rip him apart, why don't we see he does...and come sweeps we can make up our minds.
I think KNWA's morning show needs more Daily Dish segments. I don't think 5 or 6 hits an hour or stupid disc jockey banter is enough.
yeah, it should be more like 40 or 5's morning show ...zzzzzzzzzzzzz....zzzzzzzz...
IF i'm not mistaken, i thought "Josh the Intern" was gay. He still God's Gift to women???
Of course...gay men are God's gift to women, too.
Yeah they are....they cook, they clean and they usually have good taste in men :)
KNWA morning crew...get over this blog and stop writing in to start gossip...the show is NOT technically sound and who cares who's producing
I get more news/weather in 10 minutes of KFSM or KHOG's morning show than I do on KNWA. It's just that simple. At 6AM, I do not need MR. FOOD, two un-funny local disc jockeys acting like they plugged into Hollywood, or a "Chef Cookoff" which looks mysteriously like it's being shot just inches away from the anchor desk, yet no one wants to acknowledge that fact on the air. I watch in 15 minutes blocks while getting ready to go to work. Take about 6 minutes out for commercials and I get 9 minutes of news/weather. All I ask of you is that you don't fill that 9 minutes with pap and pablum. In exchange, I will watch your commercials and frequently buy from the advertisers.
I wonder if Mr. Food is gay ???
It's a shame that hard work and experience don't seem to matter any more in the TV news business. Used to be you had to work your way up.
Pretty effective piece of writing, much thanks for your article.
This won't succeed in actual fact, that is what I believe.
