Are Local Sports Anchors Obsolete?

The DC Examiner analyzes the state of sports news in the local newscasts in Washington DC. The situation sounds very familiar to what's happening right here in the Natural State.

This paragraph of the article jumped out at me:

"The stars of local TV news are the weather forecasters who get about six minutes per newscast. That means that no matter how talented the sports anchor is, they really have to rush. Don't even get me started about the 11p.m. news, when sportscasters are cut off in mid-sentence by anchors who ask the weatherman about the bus stop forecast!"
