Nobody cares ! Moving to Milliwakee for the same position seems like lateral move rather than a promotion . He must really hate working in northwest Arkansas to move Milliawakee known as a factory town. Not a very big TV market.

Do you actually know anything about TV or do you just always ignorantly assume everything?

Fayettville/Fort Smith is Market 100. Milwaukee, or as you like to spell it, Milliawakee, is market 35. That's a jump of 65 markets (I didn't want you to strain yourself doing the math). So if you can't figure that out, that's a HUGE jump in the TV industry.

So please, before you decide to let the cesspool of thoughts in your head spill out in word form, do a little research.

Obviously you do to go to the trouble to comment. And such a positive comment. You should be commended !

Either you're extremely jealous of Ben or uninformed. Let me educate you. First off, Just because you leave NWA, doesn't mean you hate the area. Secondly, Ben is moving up 65 markets/cities. In our industry, that's a promotion, especially breaking into a Top 40 market, which isn't easy. Every young reporters dream is to move up. For the few, staying in a place like Northwest Arkansas or similar, is very common. To each its own. Milwaukee maybe a dump, but he's making the right decision .

I know people who work in Chicago TV market and they tell me Milwaukee is a wasteland for TV news . They are marginally better than Little Rock or Oklahoma City in getting money from commercial sponsors . Outside of Milwaukee it is rural farmland nothing else until Chicago.

And Northwest Arkansas is a sprawling metropolis?

Do you listen to what you say. From Chicago? Of course they're going to think Milwaukee is a dump! Your opinion is so flawed it's frustrating.

Only a goober would show his/her ignorance with spelling errors and ignorance of the town of Milwaukee. BTW, its a beer town, not a factory town and it's larger than anything in Arkansas.

Only 25% of the people born in Arkansas think its a great place. The other 75% have been to other places outside the State and know better.

10:08 and 3:37, ignorance through false consensus rears its ugly head when someone tries to inflate their credibility with absolute or near-absolute statements. 3:37, if you think Arkansas is not a great place, you have the freedom to move. Anyone with a cursory knowledge of the rankings of the Nielsen markets knows that a move to Milwaukee would allow someone to make more money, especially if the stations moved from and to are Hearst-affiliated stations.

10:08 and 3:37 are displaying ignorance and apparently don't mind posting it on here.

8:09, you are using words that are probably hard for the poster(s)10:08 and 3:37 to understand. I think you should probably use words that are familiar to those on an elementary school playground in order to get your point across to this/these posters. These are the same type of people that want to be paid $15 per hour for doing menial tasks.

Let me re-ask my question - how long until we can get rid of the drama queens Paige and Daniel? And when can we bring in some people who know how to cover sports?

Ben Wagner is from the suburbs of the Twin Cities. It makes sense for him to move that direction (to Wisconsin).

And @2:08 is just pissed about NWAs growth.

At 3:08 AM, December 06, 2015, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Growth? Compared to what? It's NW Arkansas, not a major metropolitan area and never will be. If idiots ever stop and ask themselves Why do I buy at Wal-Mart? The employees are rude, non helpful, only 2 checkout lanes open when they have 15, expired food left on shelves, I could go on and on. As I said, when people realize that there are better places to shop wally world will go away and so will NW Arkiesaw. Nope, the Razorbacks cannot save it either, nobody shows up to the games anymore because they suck too.

Most home games are at least 80% capacity... not bad considering.

11:38 p.m., I'm 8:09. After reading that post, calling you informed is like calling popcorn fruit (unless you were trying to be funny with that post). Getting up this morning is fact because I'm not dead. That is not opinion, but fact. I saw my body in Bible class this morning. That is no perception. "Everything" is false consensus that undermines your credibility.

3:08 a.m., 11:38 a.m. showed the fallacy of your false consensus of confirmation bias. When people post and say "no one" or "nobody", your credibility goes down the drain like water in a drain. Until I watch a Razorback football game that has no one in the stands, I'll discount any future opinion of yours.

Who cares about the Razorbacks or the big box stores? The big question people should be asking - when can they hire some quality people and get rid of the drama queens? Let's do mic checks while your cold open is running and the audience can hear it. Or, let's go to our reporter in the field, except we can't hear her mic. Or, let's have your anchor stumble because your floor crew and producers are slow in communicating with them. Is this a college station or a professional workplace? I'm only waiting for Paige and Daniel to get caught AGAIN when their mics are hot.

@3:08, There are projections that NWA will surpass Little Rock's metro by 2040. But it's all about how you look at the numbers.

@8:30, It seems like you have some inside knowledge. Let it out, if it's that big of a deal. On screen, I haven't see any issues, except for the ticker in the morning not being updated. And the grammar of some on-air stuff.

So what are Paige and Daniel talking about?

At 8:12 PM, December 10, 2015, Anonymous Anonymous said...

They talk all the time about Paige and her boy problems. Why hasn't the current flavor of the week talked to her today? Or what does he mean when he says this or that? Or why doesn't he want to spend time with her? And if it's not talking about boys, it's about the crappy facilities and the shitty people they have to work with. They hate being at the chroma wall, yet producers keep putting them there. They hate having to go to the breaking news desk for non-breaking news, even having to sprint there because producers don't give them enough time. And if it's not that, it's about their floor crew not telling them where to look, or being a distraction behind the camera, or moving the camera when they're trying to read off it. The product would improve greatly if they got rid of both of them, plus about all of the off-air talent.

You are correct sir/ma'am. Watching the news "shows" (they used to be programs)makes one wonder what is being taught in the way of professional journalism in today's colleges and universities before the students graduate and are hired by TV stations.

And, just exactly where are these "producers" (fancy name for a floor director or timekeeper)trained?

The 40/29 Breaking News Desk does borderline on ridiculous. And most of the breaking news isn't actually "Breaking News!". But, I assume that's a Hearst thing.

At 2:58 AM, December 17, 2015, Anonymous Anonymous said...

I only see them in passing. Seem like nice kids, plus I doubt they're going anywhere. At least not out of Hearst. Apparently both have agents and Hearst signed them on with six-fig salaries. Theres some "Breaking" News for Ya

At 8:20 AM, December 17, 2015, Anonymous Anonymous said...

lol... NO ONE, I repeat NO ONE at 40/29 is making 6 figures, working in the news department... lol

At 12:40 PM, December 17, 2015, Anonymous Anonymous said...

6 figures? Ha ha ha ha ha, yeah right!

At 2:24 PM, December 17, 2015, Anonymous Anonymous said...

2:58. How many years do they work before they make "six-fig". For the ignorant posters who use false consensus to attempt to make themselves sound more credible or who use this blog to post puerile and prurient comments, I'll help with the math . If they were paid $50K/year, it would take them two years to make "six-fig". If they were paid $25K/year, it would take them four years. I was told by a reliable source that in 1990, KFSM was paying starting reporters $11K/year and KHBS/KHOG was paying $13K/year. I've read about talent in many markets that had to take a cut in salary so management could please corporate stockholder wishes.

If Daniel and Paige COMBINED are making six-figures, I'd be surprised. I know for a fact that Cannon doesn't make that much, and he's been here 30+ years so there's no way 2 idiots are making more than that. They might be nice, but only in front of you. Behind your back or when they're not on camera, they are two of the most stupid people you could meet. Try asking them about sports since they tweet about it. Neither of them have a clue about a lot of things they think they know. If it doesn't have to do with boys - their favorite subject - they don't have a clue.

And, just exactly where are these "producers" (fancy name for a floor director or timekeeper)trained?
First, get your terminology right. 40/29 doesn't have floor directors. They are too cheap to hire anyone actually trained to be a floor director. They think they can continually have turnover on the studio crew, so that's why you see horrible camera work and mic clips everywhere. If they hired someone with experience, their product would improve greatly. Plus they preach promoting from within, but that's only a carrot to wave in front of the idiots they hire.
Second, the "producers" get their marching orders from Greg and now Yve, who get their marching orders from corproate. There is very little creativity or thinking outside the box because the producers are forced to have things in every show. If they don't have the anchors moving everywhere in the studio, they get criticized. They HAVE to use the breaking news desk every show. You should hear them panic when it's 15 minutes until showtime and they don't have anything breaking. That's why the "breaking news" so much of the time is not LOCAL. They should change the branding to "BREAKING, LIVE, LOCAL" because that is the order they put their focus. Other Hearst stations have a breaking news desk, but they use it for actual LOCAL breaking news, not something that doesn't have a local connection or is a major national story.

Wow! Someone seems like an upset producer. Paige and Daniel are really nice and smart. I've worked with both of them. I have no idea how much they make, but I'm sure both of them will go far. Best of luck to Ben. He's a great guy.

At 5:09 PM, December 18, 2015, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Upset? Far from it. Nice and smart is not how I'd describe either of the stupid idiots. I see both of them ending up back in the tiny markets, definitely not moving up. The only way Paige moves up is if she screws her way because she doesn't have the talent. Daniel should just go back to the middle of nowhere Texas where he came from. Getting rid of both of them would be a good start, even though there are so many more people behind the scenes who need to be let go as well.

Liz is just one of the idiot producers who needs to be let go. Between her, the Adams, Alli.. and don't even get started on the directors or PAs.

BTW - how does the beating feel? I am only curious to know which tiny sliver 40 is going to find to claim they are STILL most watched. "Hey, we're #1 among women 65+ who watch us at 6 and 10 because they still find Cannon to be attractive despite the crooked creepy grin."

At 2:41 PM, December 23, 2015, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Being the most watched from 40/29 or kfsm means nothing because its mostly from Fort Smith viewers who have a very limited if any supply of sponsor money compared to Fayetteville,Springdale and Bentonville. If I were knwa ,40/29 or kfsm I would forget about Fort Smith dumpster fire town and focus on northwest Arkansas market.

And I'm a male in my late 20's and watch 40/29. The talent is miles ahead of 5 or KNWA.

I'm curious, why so much hate for the producers? Most of the time, they're doing what they're told to avoid getting yelled at. I think it's more an issue with the system failing.
