Northwest Arkansas Sports Director on the Move

This from the tip box:

KHBS/KHOG 40/29 sports director Mike "Jocko" Jacques tipped viewers this week he is leaving the station. Apparently, Friday is his last day. No word on air yet as to where he is headed.

Jacques joined the stations in June 2011. Previously, he was sports director in Wausau, Wisconsin, at WSAW-TV. He knew Arkansas' new football coach before he arrived from Wisconsin to take over the Razorbacks. Jacques has also reported and produced sports for WMTV-TV in Madison and WISN-TV in Milwaukee.

It's all part of the mass exodus that has been happening, and will continue at 40/29 because of management.
We thought it couldn't get any worse after Dawn left.
We were wrong.

What's bad about management and working over there?

The word is that they have a pretty clueless News Director over there.

They only had 2 people working in Sports when 5 had 4 people and KNWA has 5 people in sports. And Josh Taylor spends half the week working news because he wasn't "Justifying his hours in Sports". 40 was constantly just taking Razorback video off of KATV's FTP site and not showing up to cover events because they were so under staffed.

Think about that for a moment. An NWA station was getting a lot of it's Razorback video from a LR station. The News Director was apparently telling them things like "You should cover sports for people who don't like sports" and kept telling Jocko he wasn't "Creative enough" in coming up with story ideas.

The result was that they would do stories on "Who was LeRoy Pond?" but would not even have a sports segment on nights when the Razorbacks would play and win.

So you want to know what's bad about 40/29 and management?

Just ask Jocko and the 12 others that left in the last six months because they couldn't stand another day.

Greg should play nice. There's already 10 job openings that need filled. #11 isn't far behind.

After being up in Fayetteville recently and watching 40/29 news . That news station has fallen off so bad it is by far not only the worst news station in nwa but the entire state of Arkansas. Which is sad considering it used to have decent news station 5 years ago . I would say UATV has better production than 40/29 news has right now.

That's really sad Jocko left. And sad what I've read here. We already miss him around our house and have now switched channels. Anybody know where he went? I heard he was going home to Wisconsin, but that's it. I'm sure they TV station he is at loves him.
