THV Finally Hires News Director
KTHV/Channel 11/Little Rock has named a new News Director. TV Spy reports Dave Parker joins Channel 11 from WCAU, the NBC affiliate in Philadelphi, PA. Where he served as the assistant news director for ten years. KTHV had been without a News Director since Chuck Maulden left the station in September 2012.

He was fired in Philly. Been out of work for a while. Probably comes cheap.

The THV people have been through enough in the last year. I don't work there, but let's not play this small minded game and pour salt in a wound. Go do something productive instead of hoping somebody loses their livelihood.
I have friends at KTHV. I hope they don't lose their jobs. Maybe they need a morale booster. Healthy raises all around with some added staff to ease the burden of their workload. Product quality would jump higher than a tick on the run.
Of course, when the other stations got wind of this they would be forced to follow suit and anarchy would erupt. These corporations are for MAKING money not sharing it!

Why do some of you posters want to bury your head in the sand and pretend like nothing has happened at KTHV?
Dude is going to assess the talent and make changes where necessary and that will help the bottom line.

Rumor is that he's already called in at least one on-air personality and pretty much told that person to hit the road. Nothing immediate but this person now knows what the future holds and it's not at THV. More to come as well I'm sure.
I don't wish for anyone to lose their job in this economy but I think some of the on-air personalities would be better suited pursuing a different career path (off the camera). It's pretty bad when I see some individuals still struggling with presentation after several years under their belt. I'm just a viewer with an opinion calling it like I see it.
With fewer and fewer jobs in broadcasting every year, you are better off to get out now before you get pushed out. Take it from someone who has been in your shoes, life is so much better after broadcasting. I have never been happier personally and professionally.
THV runs the same news four time every night, at 5, 6, 6:30 and 10. That's way too much. They should just drop the 6:30. They also need a sports director badly. Worst sports in the LR market.
I didn't know they have been operating without a news director for so long. Couldn't tell any difference.
Worst sports is KARK. Nothing but Razorbacks.
All Razorbacks all the time is not good and their ratings prove it.
Sarah is great, she is young and getting better.

Oh please, give it a rest. Nobody cares about you trying to start something negative on here because you can't say anything positive about your own station. Maybe a little more time and effort into your product and less time trying to start a fight on a stupid blog would yield something you can actually be proud of. You're obviously a small, petty individual and I actually kind of feel sorry for people like you.
The Razorback Nation report comes in at number 3 in Little Rock. That is the highest ranking for anything Razorback related in a while.

We all know the Razorbacks are the only ones playing any kind of sports in Arkansas. Apparently, no high school or other college teams matter.
Until KARK crawls out from under their rock, I'll watch THV for sports.
People don't realize that many, many more people didn't go to UA and don't support the Razorbacks. Just wish that old Frank would have the cajones to play ASU. Not going to happen.
Oh, yeah. Rest assured that old Frank is still running the show.

Did anybody see Liz Massy freak out trying to tell Mark Edwards to shut up when he was trying make a joke about the gator teeth being green from the weed bust! Liz needs to chill out and stop acting like a top flight on air personality with journalism skills when you don't even write or understand your own news segments.
She may have been bitter over that sad solo news cast she had to do by herself....

The only knowledgeable weather guesser on during the bad weather on Saturday night was Todd on KATV.
Please, when bad weather threatens have an experienced weather guesser on your newscasts.
12:53: Apparently you don't watch KTHV very closely. All 3 of their people were there. Mainly Sarah on the air but they were all there if you payed attention or looked online.

Liz will not be on the air in this market much longer. Gone within the year.
You know, you have to wonder who puts this stuff on here about Liz. I don't think she has ever done anything to anybody. who would feel so threatened by her that there is constantly a barage of statements and attacks. She is a great person, and one would be hard pressed to say anything negative about her that was true. She may be a little over weight, but she is honest hard working and a good wife and mother. Ther is not much more in this world that is more important than that.
Her being gone within a year is not an opinion.
And you've obviously never worked with her to heap such praise on her.
The problem with KARK is that it's now being run from Texas.

I don't work for KTHV or any other media station. I and my family are just viewers. I do like keeping up with the weather so I follow several people with several of that stations (except for KARK as they can't keep a qualified person long enough or they leave before they learn enough about Arkansas and Arkansas Weather).
I also have to say the way you all comment about some of the people is just unreal. I think there are many qualified news people here in the Little Rock market.
If there is an issue off air that may be one thin, but my wife and I like watching Liz and Craig. We enjoy many of the people on the other stations.
Are there some that are lacking sure and that can be mentioned but don't trash them so hard. They are people and you would not want that happening to you.
I am still amazed at the people that went after Liz's child. Those people should be ashamed of themselves and get counseling.

It would be easy to assume that something is up with Liz since she was feeling sorry for herself on her FB page recently about big changes coming.
Liz is a nice person, could have been a millionaire long ago if she'd moved to the West Coast, is a good reporter but is only a mediocre anchor. Few ad-libbing skils and is just a country girl. Nothing wrong with that but once again, Channel 11 people confuse fuzzy warm emotions with the TV business.
Why hasn't 11 resumed the search for a new male anchor. Craig was being put out to pasture 10-months ago. Now that the grief of losing their anchor in the car accident has passed, are they going to get back to reality?
