KLRT, KASN Soon to Merge Operations/Facilities With KARK
More changes on the way...Arkansas Business.com reports KLRT/KASN and KARK will be under one roof running from one location. Nexstar will not elaborate further.

No marketing for KARK, KLRT, and KASN. This should make the folks at KATV and Yesterday's THV quite happy. It's a two horse race now in the Little Rock market.
i have friends at 4. a couple of them just started not too long ago. i sure hope they will get to keep their job.

So... what does this mean... will there just be a mass exodus from BOTH channels or will they, like, form a freaky Little Rock Voltron Force of the "best and most popular?"

Just hope that they let the dudes/dudettes from KLRT light the news set and others.

Yes it is, but that is why Nexstar has Mission as a shell company to get around that.
Hey, the FCC relaxed its restrictions on how many stations a company can own in the same market decades ago. The NAB has a mighty powerful lobby in D.C. and they use it.
Yeah, but Nexstar is well over their allowable market share so they have to put some of their stations under the Mission umbrella.
Currently Nexstar is the O&O or MSA of stations in 38 markets. Of those 38 markets, 18 are duopolies. 3 markets, Amarillo TX, Wichita Falls TX, and Utica NY, are tri-opolies. Now with Little Rock having a quad-oploy just seems to be a natural progression of the Nexstar strategy.

What a loss. Now we are going to have 4 loser stations instead of just 2.
Media has gone to hell in this country since deregulation.
When one has no competition, one can sit all their asses and do nothing and not worry about it.
For all we know, they will turn 16 into 24/7 reruns of I Love Lucy.
I stopped watching local TV years ago, it all sucks.
I'd have no issues with a 24/7 Lucy channel :) Maybe they could turn it into Antenna TV or Cozi TV.
I watch rasslin on satellite and all those reality shows that aren't on ABC, CBS, NBC etc.
Watch very little local news. All they do is report all the murders, car wrecks. Too lazy to get out and find some real news.
If that is all you watch then why are you on a local news blog?

Companies in media have no hearts when it comes to personnel changes. Why should they when THEY are making the cuts?
