Can't seem to recall who this guy is/was at KSLA. Must've not hung around very long.
Must be. I don't remember anyone named Jonathan on KSLA either.
When was Jonathan at KSLA? I used to work there and I don't remember him.

Maybe you all should do your research on him before commenting. If that's all you remember him from then I feel sorry for you. As a friend and former competitor solid journalist and a good man. He always uncovered stories, and just because.he wasn't here for long, doesnt mean others don't remember him. He was one of the better reporters to leave KSLA in recent years before going to Vegas.
1:28 AM I used to work at KSLA and I don't remember Jonathan. I watched his YouTube video and I still don't remember him. Just because we don't remember him doesn't have anything to do with his journalism abilities. The only comment about Jonathan's journalism abilities is the one you posted earlier this morning.
Glad to hear KTAL is going back to the co-anchor format. It worked out really well when they were doing that several years ago. Any plans to add a co-anchor to the weekend as well?

NO...Jonathan was only in for an interview. That was it. He has not been offered a job.

I thought I knew most people who worked at KSLA in the recent past but I too can't place Jonathan either. Not questioning his abilities, I just can't recall ever seeing him on KSLA. Wish him the best.
According to his bio he worked there from 2007-09, then went to Vegas.

Nothing new about that. Jody Lawrey at KTBS left and went to Tampa for a few years. Then she came back to KTBS a few months ago.
I watched Jonathan's YouTube video. He seems to be pretty solid. As long as KTAL doesn't go crazy and bring back Rick Boone they should do fine.
He hasn't been in Vegas for a while now. He is in South Texas at KAVU.

It's the life of a TV Newser. Not unusual to hop from market to market, especially early on in one's career. The way the TV news biz is going, the revolving door is going to fly off the frame.

Looking at his resume video Jonathan seems to be very capable. I don't care who they hire. All I ask is whomever it is doesn't come and go in 12 months or less. Every time I turn around I have to learn a new face and name no matter which station I watch.
Do any of you know what happened to the asian meteorologist who was on KTAL about 5 or 6 years ago? Is she still in the biz?

What are you talking about? No one said anything about Jonathan looking Asian.
Now that KTAL's studio and graphics looks so good they need to spend some money to get live shots instead of relying on phoners. It looks really cheap. They were the only station not doing a live shot on the lead story from LSUHSC during the 6:00.

I'm sure it is. I worked at KTAL a couple of years ago and at that time we couldn't get a live shot one block from the station. Now that was under the old GM and ND who wouldn't spend a dime on anything.
LoL: hey a way to save money would be to do live-reenactment of a live-shot with handpuppets in the studio!
I hear you 12:14. Either that or have us make some old school stick figures on both sides of one sheet of copy paper formatted like a story board. That was the cheapest place I've ever worked. We were lucky if we had enough mic batteries to make it through an entire show. This new management finally spent a few dollars and KTAL's got it going on now. Wish they made those changes when I was there.
I think KTAL & KMSS tied for the cheapest stations to work for in the ArkLaTex. I worked at both and can tell you firsthand that the management mentality at both were incredibly cheap, cheap, cheap.
How they managed to stay on the air was sometimes by sheer luck.
How some people get hired and allowed to stay working as General Managers at these places was amazing.
Both stations are super cheap but KMSS is cheaper then KTAL. I worked at both stations myself and had one GM follow me from one station to the other. He was one of the main reasons I left the first station to begin with.

Changing gears a bit. Need to double check those break lengths. I saw one of the breaks during the Jets-Pathers game tonight was short about 15-20 seconds.
Stumbled across the comments here about KMSS. I haven't laughed so hard in ages as I worked there and can vouch for some of the previous comments. Can't comment about Cummings as I was there before him, way back when the CE was taking copper from the old Kroger reefer unit for scrap. The GM knew it and ignored it. Had to hire his doper-son who would get fried and pass out in the "dungeon/storage room" after showing up late for work. Heard he got a stretch in Angola for vehicular-manslaughter and parole violation. Useless waste of space thanks to his equally useless and ethically-challenged dad.
I had to share crappy prodn gear with another dept. and it got so bad we were ordering videotape on our own so we could do our jobs because the GM wouldn't approve needed expenses among other things. I left in disgust as this was truly the worst TV station I have ever worked for in my career. Anyone who reads this and thinks about working at KMSS needs to think twice. It is an armpit and management DNA is poisoned. You'd be better off selling cars or real estate.

Someone posted earlier that he wasn't offered the job. Can't confirm it either way. If he got offered the job it may have not paid more than what he's already earning at his current station.
Or Chris did not like what he saw during Jonathan's interview.

Rich Boone is the essential DB tabloid-type reporter and got in some hot water at the Sacramento TV station because of his exchange between a woman who was being arrested allegedly for prostitution. He stuck a mic in her face and she basically told him what he could do with it; to which he replied: "Oh..does (my mic) taste good?" did this while other TV newscams were rolling and it made the rounds on the web.

First off his name is Rick Boone, not "Rich" Boone. Second, that video was terrible, but that's typical Rick and typical FOX. Before his stints with the Nexstar stations in Beaumont and Shreveport, he was a correspondent on Americas Most Wanted for a short time. Evidently AMW is where he developed his "interviewing" technique. I can assure you that one incident was not the first, and he was already on thin ice. He left Sacramento for San Diego after that, and has currently fallen off the map.

Rick was so disliked when Sports Director Dave Schwartz and Morning Anchor Shannon Slatton got married, he was the only person at the station not invited to the wedding.
Looks like Jonathan didn't get the gig at KTAL as they've announced they're bringing in a husband & wife team, one for the AM anchor the other to read at 10AM. Others are slated to do reporting as well.
Dan is co-anchoring the morning show. Jacque is co-anchoring the 10:00 PM newscast.
So is MeeShell just doing 5 & 6pm only? Makes you wonder what that means.
