Courtney to Co-host Daybreak AND Contribute to KATV Newscasts
I am a little behind on this but here's the press release. My real job has been keeping me way to busy these days.....
KATV Press Release KATV General Manager and Senior Vice President Mark Rose and News Director Nick Genty are pleased to announce Alyson Courtney is the newest member of the Channel 7 News Team!
Alyson starts her duties on Channel 7 Friday morning. She will work alongside Beth Hunt, Meteorologist Melinda Mayo and Meteorologist Barry Brandt, broadcasting from Riverfest Friday. Alyson will also contribute special reports on KATV newscasts.
Courtney brings 13 years of experience to the job, much of that in Arkansas. She has worked as a news anchor, reporter and producer. Courtney is married and has two young daughters, Brooklyn and Berkeley.
“We are fortunate to have great anchors and reporters at KATV,” says Rose. “And with the addition of Alyson, we add another terrific person to the team. She is warm and dynamic. Viewers in Arkansas have really grown to love her. We are thrilled she is here and on Channel 7 now!
Genty, who has worked with Courtney for a number of years at another station, agrees. “Like several members of our anchor team, Alyson is a working mom and brings that perspective to the job. She can identify with the way events and issues in Arkansas affect families here. As a parent, she knows it is more than just news---it’s how that information impacts your family.”
Courtney says she has been looking forward to her first day on Channel 7 for quite some time. “I’m excited to be part of the Channel 7 news team and so grateful for the opportunity. I am joining a great group of journalists. They’re also wonderful people. I look forward to a whole lot of fun with KATV!”

Beth looked like she was mailing it in this morning. There are too many cooks in the AM kitchen on KATV and KARK.
Holly Sonders is getting better every week on her show. Seems like KATV couldn't figure out how to utilize her.
Holly could only get better. i dont know how much worse she could have gotten. when you are hired as a reporter and dont even know what a VO is or what "track" a package means, then you have no place in a newsroom
She's supposedly dating Erik Kuselias. That's punishment enough for whatever her shortcomings are.
I disagree about kark's morning show. Have you watched lately? Theyve finally figured out how to use all 3 anchors. Strong team. Chemistry is real. Not forced like 7's.
Holly didn't know what white balanced was or how to clip on a mic. There are blonde roots somewhere in there.
Yeah she's dating that guy, ew. They're living together. Until she finds and guy with a tad more money.
What happened to her LR photog boyfriend? He said he was moving to Florida to be with her.
Beth is back to her hoochie look but in a different way. I thought she was going to pop a button this morning. Guess she thinks those boobs will compensate for her lack of talent. Someone PLEASE tell her the right way to maximize her potential.

I don't see the boob issue with Beth. I see expensive, nice clothing.
Actually, if Alyson had boobs, she wouldn't look like she was fading away. Her frame is too thin.

So when will KATV officially go HD? The promos look good but the news cast is still in ghetto mode.

But the truth is this is TV and whether or not people watching have room to talk, the person on tv should look their best, that includes weight.
People have mentioned thv has contract, all anchor should but that contract stipulates (but in these words but) you can't walk in one day with pink hair or double in size.

Don't even compare Aniston's hair to Liz's do. Liz is in pure "mommy mode". Sweat pants, unbecoming hairstyle, and does not care about what the viewer thinks. Ashley and Dawn, that's the ticket!!!
Liz is great on the news. She is better than Munoz. Some of the comments on here about Liz are quite petty and mean.
Viewers are petty. They don't know you, they just see you. That's all they have to go on, that's why you should always look your best and liz isn't near how she used to look.
Nothing wrong with her round face, she is pretty, but the hair cut makes her/her face look huge.
I think a personal trainer would be a big help to her.
I don't think viewers are petty. Viewers are the reason you have a job. If they don't watch, you don't gotta no job. Now, what's petty are the back-stabbers at local television stations, ie; people you work with and people across the street that are jealous of any success you may have over them. As for Liz, viwers have the right to judge her, the way she looks and the way she delivers the news, if they like her for those qualities, they'll watch, if they don't like her, they won't and they'll change the channel to someone they prefer.
Liz has ratings so apparently viewers don't care- they like her. It doesn't matter if another person in the media doesn't like it.
Yeah. Because Liz is the only reason anyone watches THV. She has the viewers alright.
Maybe it's my tv set but does anyone think that Munoz's head is a little too big for her body? She is pretty.
Munoz looks beautiful on my tv.

Tune in and take lessons in voice from Melissa Dunbar-Gates or Ashley Blackstone.
A rumor within thv is that dunbar gates may be pushed to quit because they'll take her off the morning show before anyone else.
She isn't going to go backwards and report again.
Rumer is that Melissa wants part time and no more 4:30 AM 5 days a week. Reporting may look good to her now since she had the twins.

On THV2 on Fri during the break Melissa was talking to Ashley & mentioned that she is going to finally get to be a stay-at-home mom & that it's been in the works since January. I believe her last day is coming up fairly soon.
If she leaves, she will be missed.
If this is true, it was just a matter of time before someone on THV2 said something during a break that bit them in the a--.
I'm surprised Melissa didn't leave sooner.
Melissa said at the end of the newscast on Friday that this coming week will be her last week on the morning show, but you can wake up to her on Saturday mornings. She going part-time and only working on Saturday mornings and becoming a full-time mommy.
Good for her, we wish her the best.
Many good wishes to Melissa. Best on-air voice of any female in this market, probably in the state.
