KTHV, Channel is promoting its conversion to High Definition newscasts beginning December 19th. It's been a race in the Little Rock market to be the first.

So sad...a top 60 market just now getting into the HD race...
Who cares. Being first doesn't mean squat. I think the best will probably wait until all the bugs are worked out before premiering anything.
Remember the problems the stations(except Fox 16)had with switching back to HD Wide screen after a local station break.

Yeah, it is a nice pat on the back to be able to (always) say you were first, but once everyone goes HD it is going to be the same competition they are in now.
And everyone will be there within a few months of each other so THV better have more trick up their sleeve.

Dude... it cost a million dollars to go HD when its all said and done. We are barely out of a recession, and now the corporate monsters are ready to open up the pocket books. Making all that money from political ads no doubt.
And as far as thv having more tricks up their sleeve... they don't. The only thing they will have in HD is the studio cameras. Field cameras will all be standard def.
standard def field cameras are the norm even after going hd. 16x9 format in sd, eventually switching once they are past first generation.
All the stations will have a facelift before they go hd, so now is the time to re-brand yourself and capitalize on this market with good video and good looking talent.
All the anchors will probably go out and get botox and facelifts after they see themselves in high definition.
It is sad..Shreveport beat the Little Rock market to HD after the recession..what an 85 market to a 54 who neighbor each other? Go Shreveport market!! Oh and by the way..It will many months before KARK/KTAL ever get close to hd!

Not only to makeup, but some of the females need updated do's. Dawn and Liz have the hairdos you have to look twice to see who is who. Meredith and Alyson wear ponytails 3/4 of the time. Tracy Beene and Ashley are ahead of the curve with haircuts for HD .
Dawn and Liz know how to wear makeup.
Tracy Beene needs a new wardrobe.
Alyson looks good over all, but her hair bothers me, it looks like she is trying to hide thining hair. If it's true fine, but if it's not, she needs to do something else.
There are days Ebone doesn't wear makeup and she looks awful on standard.
Ashley doesn't look good on digital, she needs to learn how to wear makeup.
I can't think of how the others look, but it's when they look bad that sticks out.
Liz does well at fluffing up her hair, but it is too big.
I think Dawn's hair is fine.
I think everyone's hair looks good except for Ashley's, Faith's and Jennifer Duff, everytime I see [Duff] on the air I can't believe she got a job on TV.

Ashley needs to go to the Dorothy Hamill "wedge" cut. It needs to be shorter on the sides because it looks like a tipsy person cut it and couldn't get it evened up.
The big hair at 4 he is talking about is probably Tracy Douglass . She will never change the hairstyle because a 50 something woman should have high school hair,yeah right(lol)
The hair at eleven could be worse, it could have hair like the octopus-shag of Melinda Mayo or the straight as a board with the one perfectly placed curl on her right side. HD will not be kind to them. Go Michelle Rupp, you are $$$$$$$$$$$$

No, the big hair woman that could also be the poster person for Maybelline, is on KARK and does that show with the doc that molds your eyeballs while you sleep. Gotta be a full tube of mascara on the eyelashes. Wait till HD hits. You are really gonna see some makeup.

what about when the shows have guest? Sucks to be a guest on HD.
But the talent better start using some serious corrective make up because you can already see some bad skin right now.

I can't think of anyone else who just sticks out like those two.
I know people laugh about Donna Terrell's drama hands on Fox but she holds her own and dresses nice.
O, and people will probably bring up Craig on THV.
If Tracy could just keep all that hair out of her face! To see the whole tube of mascara!
Could it possibly be a wig? Man, that stuff has got to be H.O.T. in the summertime. Enough makeup to perform in a Broadway play.

Shot blocking. The old set was built for 4x3. They have to make considerations for the wider screen shots that 16x9 requires.
Times have changed. 4 now has the best looking women by far.
I agree and it seemed to happen over night.
Not only beautiful but classy and professional.
I can't watch weekend news, Jessica Dean and Ashley Blackstone don't get my attention and Pamela Smith is such a drag.
Are you kidding me? Jessica Dean is the only watchable news anchor in weekend news in Little Rock.
I watch Dudzik and Early although Dudzik looked better as a non-blond.

Jessica Dean is overrated, but I agree 4 has the best looking girls. I have been saying this for months!

Dudzik is not a looker as a blonde, it makes her look all washed out.
I'd be willing to bet T. Douglass has never had a short hairstyle in her career! I need to buy some stock in the mascara market.
I swear every weekend Dudzik's hair is a different color blonde, her suits are too tight and her eye make-up can sometimes rival Tracy Douglass.
I agree with an above post, the weekends anchor are not bad, they are just not that attractive.

Ashley is great! She just needs to go to a shorter cut. The inverted look is too bold for Arkansan's. Anne Jansen did ok with a short haircut. A short cut would add to her credibility and make her look more mature.
Anne became an icon and Ashley could do the same! Go to a short cut.
That is because Anne Jensen had a square-shaped face. That is why the "do" worked for her.
Yeah, we used to joke that Anne could have played Robocop. She and that guy had the same jawline.
There are short hair styles for every type face,including Ashley, Dawn, Liz , and especially Meredith.

I like Dawn Scott's hair, but she highlights it and cuts it so much that she looks different in every promo, I kid you not.

Congrats to KTHV! Wonder when are they going to build a decent looking set. The one they have now is w a y on the blue side. That is going to clash with just about every outfit any female anchor wears, except black. Can't wait to see someone wearing yellow or pink. Ewwwwwwwww!
opening night Liz and Katherina wore yellow and I think the sports girl wore pink. One of them was in a completely yellow suit.

HD in the studio.
SD with Stretch-O-Vision on the street and it looks like amateur work. At least the networks have the sense to put "bars" on each side of on-the-street shots that aren't in HD.
Audio needs some work too. Just too much attention to the looks and not enough to the sound. Typical management and the same at all stations.
Not just KTHV. Tune in to KARK at 5, 6, and 10 and see who gets the tinny mic. Lately it's been the wx person.
Then, see which reporter gets the distorted mic on the street.
If I were a reporter I would be not wanting that/those mics.
It's not a problem with the mics, they just aren't set correctly. Nobody in this market knows how to do anything right, with the exception of a few of us.
Apparently nobody at that station knows anything about equalization and whomever is in charge of engineering does not have a clue.
Notice that it is not happening at KATV, KLRT, and KTHV. What's the problem at KARK?
I mean, this has been going on for like months. Hey talent, do an air check on your DVR at home and see.
