KTHV Lends KATV Tower Space
Arkansas Business.com reports KTHV is letting KATV use its auxiliary broadcast tower to get its signal out. The article says Channel 7 began transmitting its signal from the site Monday night.
The two GM's had this to say: "This kind of cooperation between KTHV and KATV is most appreciated and evidence broadcasters are here to serve the community," said Dale Nicholson, general manager at KATV.
"That's how much we believe in local TV," said Larry Audas, general manager at KTHV in a news release. "We go nose to nose with KATV every day in news, sales and every competitive aspect of broadcasting. But THV's first obligation is to Arkansas viewers ... . Competitive results will take care of themselves."

Who saw Baz get his hair cut today? Great stuff. KATV is smart to link with 103-7 The Buzz and they have the best early radio program and television programs out there. KARK is just silly and KTHV is boring. 7 is the best!

It's not silly to shave someone's head on tv? Didn't see it, don't care to. I still watch THV in the morning. We all have different tastes in what we would prefer to watch in the morning.
You have to admit, Alison just does not have the energy that Robin did. Look for BJ to leave at any moment.

FYI, BJ is under contract and has too much character to break it. Allison has been very well recieved, and Tom has been a standard for morning tv for 10 or 12 years now. Tom and BJ have a very loyal following regardless. They still had the most morning viewers in November. Of course it could change, but NOBODY ELSE on morning tv can boast being #1 for almost 10 years in a row but BJ and Tom. They do deserve some credit no matter where the ratings go from here.

Kudos to THV for keeping the largest share of the morning viewing audience. They could have really tanked but didn't. That means that Robyn really didn't make that much of a difference, or people warmed up to Alyson in the month prior to the book. I think it's both. Yes she (Robyn) was good at what she did, and I'll bet she misses the limelight. I predict she'll be back in the mornings somewhere making a six-figure salary within the next few months. Watch your back Beth and Melissa, you could be out. Here's the deal - a six figure salary, 3 hours a day, and 6 weeks or more of vacation a year.

I don't think that KTHV will bring Beth back. She's about 70 now.
Katherina Yancy still needs to go back to journalism 101 or at least to a smaller market. She has no place in the LR market.

I've been watching that Morning Buzz thing that comes on every day. It has the hot blonde as the hostest. She rocks and bought herself a great pair !
Speaking of hot chicks, that little redhead and Channel 7 doesn't seem to get any airtime anymore. After that big bus tour arouond the state she pretty much does nothing. That new girl does all the work.

Are you referring to that goddess Kristin Fisher on KATV? What a package!!! She has natural beauty, a phenomenal figure, and impressive talent to boot. Sadly, she is too good for LR and will likely get called up to a larger market soon.
Too bad this type of cooperation didn't exist when Crazy Craig was ousted as the Razorback football PA announcer. Hmmmm, who was behind that?????
I always thought the meanest thing dale's team did (aside from letting scores of people go just to re-tool at a revenue whim)...was to work their buns off to get people out of the market...Steel was virtually spending his complete waking hours sending tapes of THV's talent to the far corners...ruthless!...THV is always a good sport...that's why it's fun to kick some butt from there and still have enough scrote to toss katv a life preserver when they're going under for the 3rd time...
One thing's for sure, their digital signal will be able to be seen from thv's aux tower if they can get it mounted on there...what a piece of %$#@ when that thing was on the redfield stick.

How can you watch a morning show with all those grammar and spelling errors? I swear, if I see "seperete" or "sherrif" again on the bottom of the screen, I think I will scream.

KATV did 720p, not 720i, and that is not a local decision, but an ABC thing, so it probably won't change. ABC and Fox do 720p, and NBC, CBS and CW do 1080i.
Every DT station in town looked better than KATV-DT before the tower fell. There local res did not even approach 720 i or p.

Picture quality is not the issue here, moron. It's a bunch of geeks talking techno-speak trying to impress us into forgetting they've never actually kissed a girl.
720i 1080p its the same as dolby or surround a few years back. it's not geek speak. It's what you need to know if you want to upgrade to HD.
KATV is too cheap to upgrade because of the rank of their ratings.
KATV will not return to the air as an "Analog" station.
They will go with: a low-power digital transmitter on channel 22, a tower (maybe on Shinall Mountain) and rely on cable and satellite companies to get their signal to most of their viewers.
The other stations will envy them.
If the low power thing is true. They will never be number one again. They still have a large percentage of the popuklation that doesn't get sat or cable. A low power signal will not be tha same.
Only about 10% of the viewers do not have sat or cable and rely on OTA for their tv and that's with a full-power signal. KATV will not fork over the money to return to "Towerful Powerful" 7. They could, however, be "Towerful" 22.
Yeah but I'm guessing that there's a larger number in Pine Bluff that rely on OTA signals. KATV will never be the same.
