Familiar Name, New Face at KATV Sports Desk
The Arkansas Times Blog says Dale Nicholson, Jr made his debut at the sports anchor desk today. In watching one of the newscasts over the weekend I heard them introduce Nicholson. Will be watching the 10pm KATV newscast to see if he's at the desk tonight.

Who cares that Dale and Matt left. The reason Matt is leaving Channel 5 is his ninth grade class located him and he has missed some homework lately while actually fooling people that he is a grown up. He is still up for ninth grade prom king, i believe though.
Just don't confuse me with Ashley Beck.

University of Missouri have had a meeting discussing Matt Splett being there. The president told the faculty and students that it would be their first instinct to call the police the first time they seen Matt on campus cause they would mistaken him for a little child that is lost and would proceed to call the police about a child being abandoned on campus.
Did Tim Malone get a divorce? Just wondering if his wife filed for divorce after the whole Ashley Beck and Tim Malone story.

First off...Matt Splett will be making more than any reporter in this market, so obviously, you MUST be jealous. For those of you who don't know, Ashley Beck doesn't even know Dale Nicholson...work in 2 separate towns. 3rd...Matt stayed at KFSM for 3 years, yes THREE years, longer than many last.

I'm sorry but I was never impressed with Dale Nicholson on air. Of course I've never been impressed with what I've seen from KATV before either so I'm sure it's a great fit.

aaah that's sweet, trying to defend Ashley Beck, hey moron, they do know each other cause they both worked at channel 5, but thanks anyway, i bet you like matt yourself, since he looks like a little boy you probably like to run around with Deanne Bobo.

Look, I would like to work at channel 5 even as a camera man, cause it sounds like it is one big sex party going on over there with some of the people and you know who you are, from interns to girls named Ashley and Mallory, why wouldn't you won't to work their.

Tomorrow is the Yawn ---Oops I meant Dawn of a new day. Sure are a lot of women over there at 11---Anne, Liz, Robyn and now Dawn. Maybe they are going to bring the View to the nightly news like KATV did with their morning show last year. Hope Craig, Andy and BJ can handle all the estrogen! Management might want to add another feminine hygiene dispenser in the women’s room.
I heard a rumor that the PD’s at 4 and 7 are celebrating even though the format change has not yet been announced. This must be a joke but someone said that Fox 16 was considering 6 & 10PM newscasts to catch all of the defecting viewers. Sounds like Today’s THZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.
Ashley Beck used to be the best looking chick in this market, hands down! That sure has changed. Now she's last on the list better looking on-air people around here in my opinion. Why'd she dye her hair dark, and quit wearing clown makeup all of a sudden? She was totally cuter when she was blonde and made up like a, well, you know.
Hey, Adria did a nice job with sports the other night. Thought it was Kendra at first, but Adria really knew her stuff.

I think your crazy to think that there is anything behind why mallory got hired. I think she does a great job!

I love Channel 5 (KFSM) because they are so consistently amateurish in the their technical proficiency. Many of their reporters don't do a very good job of reading prepared remarks, and they have an annoying habit of pointing out the obvious in order to use a hokey graphic - "standing by live in the newsroom...[show graphic]" What do they expect we might think -- someone taped and delayed in the newsroom or come back from the dead in the newsroom?
When they do get a reporter who is proficient, they don't keep him/her very long. Matt Splett was beyond photogenic [read: cute] and he could read very well. He brought some badly needed consistency to Channel 5. Darrin Bob looks like your overweight uncle, ok, I'll go as far as your overweight and favorite uncle. Bridget Shultz is very likeable, but she too seems to have some difficulty with prepared text. Perhaps she needs bigger fonts.
The best thing about Channel 5 is their penchant for leading their newscasts with the most salacious stories they can dredge up. If the National Enquirer had a TV channel, it would look a lot like Channel 5. They want to give you all the gorey details too and then try to find the most embarrassing hayseed everyman local they can to give a community response. Gotta love it. They help keep Arkansas's image firmly in the backward but "hey they are wearing shoes" category.
Brittany New is a great addition to go along with Ashley Ketz. Nothing helps the news like eye candy!
