New Reporter Now on Air at KATV
Ok caught the tail end of a report from new KATV reporter Leland Vittert during I believe it was the 6pm newscast. Is this his first day on the air or have I missed seeing him before? And as I type this he is filing a report about the raid on illegal gaming operations in Pine Bluff. Also noticed KARK sent its newest reporter Pete Thompson to cover the same story. BTW, no bio on KATV.com for Vittert.

thats normal for it to take katv a while to get bios up....they did however remove the weekend met. opening from the jobs page....have they hired someone that isnt on air yet?
Apparently Leland is already making "friends." While he was in PB he was going up to cops and everyone trying to get interviews and telling everyone they need to only talk to 7 and being pretty rude about it. Just so he knows...cops don't talk to one station exclusively on a story a press release was sent out on.
IMO he's no eye candy for the ladies. He's a black thumb among a bunch of pretty female reporters. KATV sure didn't hire him for his looks.
Yes, KATV has hired a new (male) meteorologist to replace Lucie. New guy will start mid-August.

Leeland pissed off almost every person in Northwest Arkansas. Not only the people at KNWA, but many cops and politicians and public figures.
He even did a story on talking cars. Something about Herbie. It made him look so stupid. I wish I had Tivo'd it.
This guy is going to be a train wreck in Little Rock. At least it will keep this blog talking.

I had the unfortunate "opportunity" to work with Leland "I love my 1980's hair-style and tennis-shoes with suit" Vitterd. I sympathize with ALL of you at KATV, including photographers, reporters, and ANYBODY crossing his tracks. Now whether he's trying to report, or just piss everybody off, beats me.
LELAND PISSED OFF THE PINE BLUFF POLICE DURING A GAMBLING RAID LAST WEEK. THEY ARE STILL PISSED AND NOT LOOKING FORWARD TO WORKING WITH HIM.
I can speak for all of the production crew @ KNWA. We all hated working with him. Does anyone know how old he is.. I heard he is kinda young. He never took no for an answer. For all of you in LR @ KATV. Have fun. He was reportedly dating a reporter @ KNWA. Not going to mention any names, but you could tell there was something going on there.

I bet you anything that i can take my high 8mm digital camera and do a better job than all of these other photographers at all of the news stations and thay made advancements in the camcorder.
Leland graduated from Northwestern this last June, so yes, he is young. He earned quite the reputation while he was here. To be fair, there is a lot of pressure to be aggressive and make a name for yourself early on in this industry...but I'm mostly just saying that for the sake of karma. This blog has been passed around among his former classmates like candy, and some are getting a little too much enjoyment out of it.
