A 'No News Weekend' ?

Is this a no news weekend or what. KATV leads off the evening newscast with 2 international stories and then does a couple more. So far there has been only ONE reporter package and it was a canned report. It's time for weather and I bet that's all the 'news' for this hour.

And forgot to mention was very shocked last night at 10 when KATV went with the Aruba missing-girl case at the top of the newscast. Did KATV give all the reporters the weekend off?

UPDATE: WOW..KTHV leads off with a LOCAL story and has a reporter broadcasting live from Little National Airport reporting on the upcoming Summer travel season. Now we have a 'first look at weather'. Then 11 LOCAL and STATE stories followed before the first commercial break at 5:37pm CDT. No mention of any national or international news so far. I would say 11 is news, how bout you?

UPDATE: 10:06pm CDT Well the local story count is in for KATV. In the first 6 minutes of the 10pm newscast Sunday, KATV managed to report 7 local stories. Many of which were ran druing the evening newscast.

I have fogotten all about watching KARK and getting it's local story count. We'll shoot for that tomorrow.

UPDATE: 06/07/05 5:05PM CDT Ok I watched KARK news at 5 for the first time in a long while but found KARK aired MORE LOCAL NEWS in the first 5 minutes, and probably the whole newscast versus KATV. If I counted correctly KARK aired 8 local stories in the first 5 minutes while Channel 7 aired 2 local stories and that counts putting the local spin on the kidnapping overseas. KATV once again kept with it's format of going with national/international stories at the top of the newscast.

KATV has apparently decided to give up on the 5 p.m. newscast... just a bunch of international stuff that CNN covers better, anway.

It appears KATV wants to put all its ammo into the 6 show, and then, hope people come back at 10

The above poster is right. Monday at 5 KATV aired a Michael Jackson story before it aired any local news OR any update on the severe weather moving through the state. Hey lookie there at 5:04 they start the local news segment. BTW, KARK and KTHV kicked off it's newscasts with local stories. hmmmm...

I noticed that KARK was the first station to localize the missing girl story. It aired sunday night opposite the international hour on 7.

KATV could win the 5 p.m. slot, with just a few changes. The entire first 5 minutes should be local... dump the international stuff near the back of the show. I mean, think about it, KATV has the luxury of having OPRAH as its lead-in... so that means people are turning away from KATV and going to watch KTHV.

Let's get rid of all of the clowns at KATV and get some new blood up in their and stop reading about their soap opra life on Arkansas TV
News and give us somr TV JUSTICE and that will do it and KATV might rebound and the overseer need to start at the top and work his way down and get rid of the whole bunch of them and that will do it and no wonder KATV came in DEAD last in the ratings taken by Arkansas TV News.
One exception keep my two doves that i find close to my heart
Beth Hunt and Michelle Rupp.
