A 'No News Weekend' ?

Is this a no news weekend or what. KATV leads off the evening newscast with 2 international stories and then does a couple more. So far there has been only ONE reporter package and it was a canned report. It's time for weather and I bet that's all the 'news' for this hour.

And forgot to mention was very shocked last night at 10 when KATV went with the Aruba missing-girl case at the top of the newscast. Did KATV give all the reporters the weekend off?

UPDATE: WOW..KTHV leads off with a LOCAL story and has a reporter broadcasting live from Little National Airport reporting on the upcoming Summer travel season. Now we have a 'first look at weather'. Then 11 LOCAL and STATE stories followed before the first commercial break at 5:37pm CDT. No mention of any national or international news so far. I would say 11 is news, how bout you?

UPDATE: 10:06pm CDT Well the local story count is in for KATV. In the first 6 minutes of the 10pm newscast Sunday, KATV managed to report 7 local stories. Many of which were ran druing the evening newscast.

I have fogotten all about watching KARK and getting it's local story count. We'll shoot for that tomorrow.

UPDATE: 06/07/05 5:05PM CDT Ok I watched KARK news at 5 for the first time in a long while but found KARK aired MORE LOCAL NEWS in the first 5 minutes, and probably the whole newscast versus KATV. If I counted correctly KARK aired 8 local stories in the first 5 minutes while Channel 7 aired 2 local stories and that counts putting the local spin on the kidnapping overseas. KATV once again kept with it's format of going with national/international stories at the top of the newscast.
