Arkansas Noon Time Tradition Getting Makeover

Dialing for Dollars a 50 year Arkansas tradition on KARK/Channel 4/Little Rock is getting a makeover.   Arkansas Online reports the popular segment during the news news on KARK is going on hiatus for 3 weeks for a state of the art studio remodel and will return July 31st.  KARK news director Austin Kellerman says the Dialing for Dollars will return with a game show style contest.  Dialing for Dollars has been airing on KARK since the 1960's.

Overdue for a revamp. Not many people have landline phone service anymore. They would draw from the numbers out of phone books. If you only have a cell phone, you don't have a shot.

that's not entirely true, they began a push several years ago to gather wireless phone information on viewers through their website, in fact I'm sure I missed a call from them to my cell a few months back. They were slow to adopt the change to people dropping landline service but finally came around.

I will agree that most of the calls they make these days seem to be to dead numbers no longer in service from the book. Also they're only making five calls total a week now, I can remember the old days of Tom Bonner and Dave Woodman where they may have made 4 or 5 calls per show, although I think the amount only increased $5 every call.

It's not karks fault you don't have a land line anymore. that's the viewers choice.

Sure. I'm going to pay to keep a land line just in case KARK randomly calls me.
