Sheriff Calls Out Shreveport Station for Being "Deceitful and Totally Biased"

KSLA/Channel 12/Shreveport was recently called out by a Louisiana Sheriff for not reporting all the facts in a story and making the story look like it was racially motivated.  TV Spy reports the sheriff held a news conference informing KSLA the report of a 17 year-old black male was “deceitful and totally biased.”  The mother of the 17 year old told the station the charges were racially motivated.  What the station failed to report was a 16 year old was arrested of the same crime.  The station had this to say about the situation:

“The sheriff is entitled to say what he wants,” KSLA news director Jayne Rubin told ABC affiliate KTBS. Rubin said the station added new information to the story after she learned of the situation.

“We regularly hold public officials accountable. But we must also hold ourselves accountable,” KSLA Joe Sciortino told viewers in an on-air editorial. “After looking into the story, our correction and follow up should have come sooner and been more transparent
