11 is a sinking ship.

People keep saying that, for many years actually, but it never actually sinks.

Maybe thats why anonymous 8:54 said sinking instead of sank or sunk.

No, it never sinks; just founders on the rocks of chaos from time-to-time.

The Sacramento Bee, in an article about four employees who took the TEGNA buyout, said employees age 55 and up natiomwide have been offered the buyout. The staff who took the buyouts at KING-TV in Seattle and KSDK in St. Louis were popular mets and anchors. It seems TEGNA is cheapening their stations like Gannett did their newspapers in the 80s. Corporations have damaged news products and KTHV will worse.

Probably why so many undesirables are jumping off the sinking thv ship. Watch it and see just how bad it has gotten, Ed pretty much carries it because people trust him on the weather but someone thinks its a good idea to put Craig in there pre Weather Forecast as some sot of Comedy Team with Ed before he does the forecast, EPIC FAIL. Poor Ed, I feel sorry for him, he endured the idiot Fortner and had to come in on his days off to cover for the idiot, he has to put up with Craig and his stale jokes right before the forecast, then there is Merideth that cannot even take over for the idiot Fortner and whats left? Tom, poor Ed. I really do feel bad for him as I have always liked Ed but he has to be making a lot of money or just has no options. THV should keep Ed and Alyse and everyone else should be let go, its really sad how bad a once dominant station has fallen.

What happened to THV? They were once the number 1 morning show and the number 1 10pm show. I saw the latest ratings for February and it looks like KARK is now number two or close to it in the ratings. Is it a leadership problem? Two reporters just walked out of their newsroom. The ones they hired are not experienced and have no business in a market the size of Little Rock. Now they've lost some loyal and dedicated behind the scenes people. I guess it's all about the bottom line for them. I bet it's frustrating for those that are trying to be the best. Morale is the lowest I've ever been around. Who's in charge at 8th and Izard?

According Dallas media blog, unclebarky.com, on-air media at TEGNA's WFAA over 55 were not offered buyouts and have their jobs. Greg Hurst, ex-KATV anchor now at Houston's KHOU, rejected the buyout. I would expect some push back by viewers in some markets, such Seattle (KING-TV).

In addition to the noon news on KATV, we get to hear the dump trucks backing up across the street.

Beep beep beep...

don't know why you all bash Craig.... as one who has lived in Arkansas a while I have to say I enjoy Craig. Ed's weather is good, but will switch to KATV if I know Todd is going to be on.

THV must treat their reporters like crap because they all move on as soon as they can!

For all the ballyhoo Liz and Anne were never part of that dreamy time in the late 90's and early 2000's when Robin, BJ and Tom were killing in the morning and Andy, Dawn, Ed and Craig wrestled the 10p away from 7. Then Little Rocks answer to Ted Cruz- Larry Audas- screwed it up. Any show Liz anchored was second or third although she is a great reporter. Anne was just filling time. Now, all of the anchors phone it in with the exception of Denise who has yet to step up as the new face of 11. No doubt Dawn is doing her Anne impression and preventing that.

Larry Audass was so resentful of the fact that he couldn't make it as an anchor in this market that he set out to change everything at THV once he returned as GM. The news director at the time, Mark Raines, spent a lot of his time fighting Audass and the stupid ideas he tried to impose. Finally, Mark got tired of it and left. Then Chuck Mauldin came in and he was too weak to stand-up to Audass. During that time you speak of -- the late 90's and through about 2006 -the station was clicking on all cylinders with outstanding talent, great content, great promotion and great management. Then it all fell apart and hasn't - and probably won't - recover.

Why not post about the very talented people that took "voluntary retirement" packages from Tegna. Some very talented people are no longer working at KTHV.

THV was only dominant when the talented Sarah Fortner was there, since then it has been downhill lol. I noticed Merideth had no issues with the severe weather coverage the other day yet the talented Fortner could never be trusted with it by herself even tho she was certified and hired to replace Ed lol. And Phil Buck had more snow on his jacket Sat Nite than NE in winter, buy some head and shoulders dude!
