CBS 42 Coming to Jonesboro

This from the tip jar:

CBS42 will go on the air 8/1/15 and will replace the Memphis CBS affiliate on cable and satellite outlets.  And yes, they will have LP translators on Jonesboro radio towers.

Cable retransmission payments. It's bad for viewers though because it doesn't provide anything they don't already receive from Memphis or Little Rock and will remove content from those other markets that they've been receiving.

Thanks simple. People work cheap there. It's a management's dream.

It will be good to see some competition for KAIT. I guess that's why they jumped on the NBC affiliation.

• IF it’s honestly true that KJNE-LD is gonna, in fact, be “CBS 42.1,” then I strongly feel that they should put “The CW+” on KJNE-LD2 Channel 42.2 (retaining the “Jonesboro CW 21” branding, via the SD feed’s placement on area Cable TV systems). KJNE-LD1 Channel 42.1 ought to be in 1080i High-Definition and then KJNE-LD2 Channel 42.2 ought to be in 720p High-Definition and then, if they have any Bandwidth left, they should “Shoehorn” in (meaning squishing it in when close-to-insufficient “Remaining Bandwidth” exists to accommodate for the addition of it) a Multicast/DigiNet type of feed (such as “Decades” or “Me-TV” or “Cozi TV” or “Grit” or “ZUUS Country” or something like that) as a 480i-SD DT3 Sub-Channel…Usually, it most often winds up being in incredibly small Media Markets (such as the 30 or 40 smallest Markets, Jonesboro, Arkansas being in 180th place out of all 210 Media Markets) where the 1080i-720p-480i type of setup gets implemented (2 HD feeds + the “Shoehorning” in of 1 SD feed)…That way, a High-Definition feed for “The CW+” will start becoming available to Jonesboro, Arkansas viewers…

— KJNE-LD1 Channel 42.1 “CBS 42” (CBS) [1080i]
— KJNE-LD2 Channel 42.2 “Jonesboro CW 21” (CW+) [720p]
— KJNE-LD3 Channel 42.3 DigiNet service [480i]

— KJNB-LD1 Channel 39.1 “Fox 39” (Fox) [720p]
— KJNB-LD2 Channel 39.2 DigiNet service [480i]
— KJNB-LD3 Channel 39.3 DigiNet service [480i]

• The DTV America Corporation might be planning on building a few new LD Stations in the Jonesboro, Arkansas area and if this is the case, I suspect that perhaps this might relieve Waypoint Media, LLC (Jonesboro TV, LLC) of the necessity to worry about putting a MyNetworkTV/Independent-affiliated DT2 Sub-Channel on-the-air…for, the DTV America Corporation has already demonstrated time and time again their tendency to affiliate their DT1 feeds with both MyNetworkTV & Antenna TV. The DTV America Corporation generally operates LD TV Stations in Media Markets that are so small that logical reasoning could arrive one at the conclusion that sustaining a MyNetworkTV affiliate without any “Secondary Affiliation” to fill the remaining 22 Hours per Weekday and the Weekend airtime with often ends up being a financial impracticality…In other words, perhaps it’s safe to assume at this point that The DTV America Corporation might eventually wind up putting up a new LD TV Station in Jonesboro, Arkansas that will serve as Jonesboro’s “Antenna TV” affiliate but that will break for MyNetworkTV programming every weeknight from between 7:00PM—9:00PM (Central Time), carrying MyNetworkTV programming in a 480i Standard-Definition 4:3 type of picture format…Of course, DT2 would most undoubtedly carry their “Doctor TV” product…Some tiny-market MyNetworkTV affiliates exist where there aren’t any “Secondary Affiliations” to fill the remaining hours of airtime and, thus, the station is formatted as an Independent during the remaining 22 Hours during Weekdays and during Weekends; although, they most often wind up getting left with A TON of Infomercials and Paid Programming during several of those hours. Usually, “CW+” affiliates fair better during Non-Network programming hours, because the local CW+ affiliates have that nationwide feed to connect to; although, filling Non-Network hours for MNT/Ind. stations doesn’t have the backing of any CW+-like nationwide feeds, hence the need for a “Secondary Affiliation” of some kind (during Non-MNT hours) for most smaller-market MNT-affiliated Stations & Sub-Channels to be able to survive…For the record, my very favorite TV Channel format is MyNetworkTV-affiliated Sub-Channels that do not have any “Secondary Affiliations” with any other network (and that, therefore, air an Independent/Syndicated-programming type of format during Non-MNT hours) and, of course, it’s the Non-MNT hours when I’d be tuning in during (to perhaps catch reruns of favorite shows)…

I would rather read one post like this than the hundreds of obscene posts, posts disparaging someone who says something intelligent because they are too lazy to try to understand it, posts about Sarah, or posts when someone uses the terms "everybody" or "nobody" to try to give their opinions more credibility.

• And If The DTV America Corporation actually carries out their plans to build a brand new LD Television Station in Jonesboro, Arkansas, than perhaps KJNB-LD “Fox 39” wouldn’t need to add a MyNetworkTV-affiliated DT2 Sub-Channel and perhaps they could put other things on their DTV Sub-Channels, such as Multicast/DigiNet feeds (due to The DTV America Corporation’s tendency to affiliate their DT1 feeds with MyNetworkTV & Antenna TV)…

On 3:08 PM’s note, that is exactly why I feel that a full-fledged MyNetworkTV/Independent High-Definition Sub-Channel would probably not be practical in Jonesboro, Arkansas; more so, a 480i Standard-Definition LD, CD, or Analog station broadcasting some sort of hybrid between MyNetworkTV & Antenna TV might be a more logical solution (such as if The DTV America Corporation actually ends up successfully establishing a MNT/Antenna TV LD Station in Jonesboro, Arkansas, as they already have a couple CP’s to do just that)…No offense to tiny media markets but, rather, I’m just speaking from a financially-practical standpoint. Stations cost money to operate, especially affiliates of a network that offers very minimal network programming (such as MyNetworkTV, which offers only 10 Hours of programming per week). It’s been my observation that the only networks that really seem to work in Tiny markets seem to be affiliates of either of the “Big 3” top 4 networks (ABC-CBS-NBC) and perhaps a highly-automated affiliate of “The CW+” via a 720p DT2 Sub-Channel…Usually, if markets sized comparable to Jonesboro, Arkansas offer programming from MyNetworkTV, via a “Secondary Affiliation” through their local Fox-affiliated station (most likely being aired “out-of-pattern” after hours)…With that, I sincerely hope that should KJNE-LD1 Channel 42.1 in fact launch as “CBS 42” effective 1 August, 2015, that the currently-Cable-only Standard-Definition CW+ affiliate, “Jonesboro CW 21” be breathed some 720p High-Definition and over-the-air presence into it, via KJNE-LD2 Channel 42.2, Waypoint Media, LLC (Jonesboro TV, LLC) ultimately acquiring (from the local area Cable TV service providers) operations of that CW+ affiliate…and perhaps have “CBS 42” someday offer a Prime-Time (9:00PM) newscast via the hypothetical KJNE-LD2 Channel 42.2 “Jonesboro CW 21” (CW+) [720p]…

— KJNE-LD1 Channel 42.1 “CBS 42” (CBS) [1080i]
— KJNE-LD2 Channel 42.2 “Jonesboro CW 21” (CW+) [720p]
— KJNE-LD3 Channel 42.3 DigiNet service [480i] {Maybe The “Decades” Channel? …}

— KJNB-LD1 Channel 39.1 “Fox 39” (Fox) [720p]
— KJNB-LD2 Channel 39.2 DigiNet service [480i]
— KJNB-LD3 Channel 39.3 DigiNet service [480i]

P.S. — I often sound so very astute in my assertions and ideas, mainly because pitching these sorts of recommendations is a BIG-TIME hobby of mine that “Knows No Geographical Boundaries”! Distribution of as many networks as possible into Small & Mid-Sized Media Markets is a huge hobby of mine, which often leads me to engage in cold-calling of TV Stations…I’d sure love it if these stations would start building Websites and/or Facebook pages, LOL…

Now, the only Major Over-the-Air Broadcast Television Network missing from the Jonesboro, Arkansas lineup is “The CW” and I think this problem can be remedied via having a Full-Time Affiliate of “The CW+” get added as a 720p High-Definition DT2 Sub-Channel of KJNE-LP…

I thought that KJNE-LD1 Channel 42.1 was CBS! I’m confused as to why, if CBS is already being broadcast via KJNE-LD1 Channel 42.1, it needs to be offered also via KJNB-LD2 Channel 39.2...I sure hope that if KJNB-LD2 Channel 39.2 is no more than a simulcast of KJNE-LD1 Channel 42.1, that it gets broadcast in 480i Standard-Definition so that a 480i Standard-Definition simulcast of the hypothetical Full-Time feed of “The CW+” from KJNE-LD2 can get shoehorned in as a DT3 Sub-Channel of KJNB-LD…So, what’s next for KJNE-LP? I think that a Full-Time Affiliate of “The CW+” should be added as a 720p High-Definition DT2 Sub-Channel of KJNE-LP and then that DT2 Sub-Channel should be simulcast as a 480i Standard-Definition DT3 Sub-Channel of KJNB-LD…KJNE-LD2 Channel 42.2 “Jonesboro CW 21” (The CW+) [720p] & KJNB-LD3 Channel 39.3 “Jonesboro CW 21” (The CW+) [480i 16:9 Letterboxed]…

— KJNE-LD1 Channel 42.1 “CBS 42” (CBS) [1080i]
— KJNE-LD2 Channel 42.2 “Jonesboro CW 21” (The CW+) [720p]
— KJNE-LD3 Channel 42.3 Simulcast of “Fox 39” [480i 16:9 Letterboxed]

— KJNB-LD1 Channel 39.1 “Fox 39” (Fox) [720p]
— KJNB-LD2 Channel 39.2 Simulcast of “CBS 42” (CBS) [480i 16:9 Letterboxed]
— KJNB-LD3 Channel 39.3 Simulcast of “Jonesboro CW 21” (The CW+) [480i 16:9 Letterboxed]

Sadly, I feel that carrying MyNetworkTV programming on a Sub-Channel that doesn’t have programming from any other networks (and is just operated under an Independent format during non-MNT hours, such as carrying a whole ton of hours of Syndicated Programming everyday) would simply not be feasible in a Media Market as small as Jonesboro, Arkansas; however, if MyNetworkTV could get offered as a “Secondary Affiliation” to “Fox 39” or via a hybrid with “Antenna TV” or something like that where programming from MyNetworkTV airs during the weeknight primetime hours (7:00PM—9:00PM Central Time), carrying “Antenna TV” or something like that during the remaining 22 Hours per Weekday and on Weekends, that might be a feasible solution to work towards…Unless, of course, another broadcaster in Jonesboro, Arkansas gets to MyNetworkTV first…For example, I’ve heard that the DTV America Corporation might be building one of their MyNetworkTV/Antenna TV & Doctor TV stations in Jonesboro, Arkansas, though…

Ch 7 posted a pic on their FB about a teenaged cheerleader from Sheridan that posted a pic on her instagram with a black face. From what I have read 7 was playing the race card stirring the pot but took it down after a lot of people complained about it saying it was not newsworthy and only done to embarrass the teen and stir up racism.

Apparently, KJNE-LD is gonna be a simulcast of KJNB-LD…

I would really love to see them add “Jonesboro CW 21” as a 480i Standard-Definition LD3 Sub-Channel of both KJNB-LD & KJNE-LD…For example, what if both KJNB-LD3 Channel 39.3 & KJNE-LD3 Channel 42.3 could become the brand new over-the-air home of “Jonesboro CW 21”? …What I have in mind is a 480i Standard-Definition LD3 Sub-Channel that could be how “Jonesboro CW 21” could be offered over-the-air for the first time in the Jonesboro, Arkansas DMA…Then, that way, Satellite TV customers from within the Jonesboro, Arkansas Media Market can start receiving their programming from “The CW” locally, courtesy of their all new over-the-air connection to their local “CW+” affiliate, “Jonesboro CW 21”…The PSIP Short Name for both KJNB-LD3 Channel 39.3 & KJNE-LD3 Channel 42.3 could be “THE CW” because it will be no more than a “CW+” affiliate, which would remain mostly automated, for the most part…

Here’s What I Have In Mind…

— KJNB-LD1 Channel 39.1 “Fox 39” (Fox) [720p]
— KJNB-LD2 Channel 39.2 “CBS 42” (CBS) [1080i]
— KJNB-LD3 Channel 39.3 “Jonesboro CW 21” (The CW+) [480i 16:9 Letterboxed]

— KJNE-LD1 Channel 42.1 Simulcast of “Fox 39” (Fox) [720p]
— KJNE-LD2 Channel 42.2 Simulcast of “CBS 42” (CBS) [1080i]
— KJNE-LD3 Channel 42.3 Simulcast of “Jonesboro CW 21” (The CW+) [480i 16:9 Letterboxed]

What about local news weather and sports on these new stations? To me if Jonesboro wants its own networks then it needs to step up and have the news weather and sports like they do in other cities

In Regards To What “12:39 PM, August 10, 2015” Stated… — Unfortunately, Realistically-Speaking, the likelihood of “Jonesboro CW 21” ever getting added in High-Definition to KJNB-LD & KJNE-LD will most likely remain very slim-to-none…the reason being that KJNB-LD & KJNE-LD are carrying both Fox & CBS are in High-Definition and it is very rare for more than two High-Definition feeds to be being offered all at once on any given Television Station. It WOULD have been possible for “Jonesboro CW 21” to be offered in High-Definition, however, hadn’t Waypoint Media, LLC (Jonesboro TV, LLC) went with the decision to turn KJNE-LD into a satellite/translator of KJNB-LD…but now that KJNE-LD is a satellite/translator of KJNB-LD, BOTH those feeds are consuming substantial amounts of bandwidth with not only a 720p High-Definition feed but, rather, also a 1080i High-Definition feed (and this is the case at not one but, rather, both of those stations). That being said, Waypoint Media, LLC (Jonesboro TV, LLC) would be lucky if they still had enough bandwidth left for a Third Sub-Channel (i.e. LD3) at all, period, let alone a High-Definition LD3 Sub-Channel…However, there still would be benefits here, for over-the-air viewers from within the Jonesboro, Arkansas area could finally have access to a Full-Time “The CW+” and Satellite customers (i.e. DishNetwork or DirecTV) from within the Jonesboro, Arkansas DMA would, in theory, now get to ALSO start viewing “Jonesboro CW 21” and would no longer need to rely on a feed from WPIX from New York City or WGN from Chicago…

For the record, “The CW+” (of which “Jonesboro CW 21” is a part of) is a nationwide service through which “The CW” programming gets distributed into the 110 Smallest Media Markets, the predominant form of distribution being DTV Sub-Channels (although, in some regions, “The CW+” is offered in form of a closed-circuit Cable-only feed, often inclusive of a fictitious call sign). “The CW+” is a Multicast/DigiCast service, nonetheless than “Me-TV” or “Antenna TV” or “This TV” or “Cozi TV” in that it is most often presented in the exact same fashion that those Multicast/DigiNet services generally tend to be presented in, i.e. via DTV Sub-Channels; although, multiple “The CW+” affiliates get offered in High-Definition, depending upon the Technological/Bandwidth constraints of the Television Station that’s carrying the area’s local affiliate of “The CW+”…In the case of KJNB-LD & KJNE-LD, “The CW+” could be offered via both KJNB-LD3 Channel 39.3 & KJNE-LD3 Channel 42.3 as the over-the-air reincarnation of “Jonesboro CW 21” and because it can be very easily-presumed that barely enough bandwidth will remain at either of those two stations for a Third DTV Sub-Channel (let alone an additional High-Definition feed), the most likely presentation could very predictably be some form of 480i 16:9 Letterboxed format (sometimes referred to as Standard-Definition Widescreen), thereby allowing for programming to be viewed WITHOUT having the edges of the screen cut off…

In a sense, it’s not so much a matter of getting KJNB-LD & KJNE-LD to add “Jonesboro CW 21” in High-Definition but, rather, it’s more a matter of getting _ to add “Jonesboro CW 21” as a Third DTV Sub-Channel so that over-the-air viewers and Satellite TV (i.e. DishNetwork & DirecTV) customers from within the Jonesboro, Arkansas DMA can start receiving programming from “The CW+”…Forget about HD…for now, until eventually ATSC 3.0 with h.264/h.265 Encoding Technology will eventually be released nationwide, which will, in theory, allow for Terrestrial TV Stations to fit A LOT more bandwidth into their feeds, thereby allowing for up to 4 or more High-Definition feeds…
