Joey was well loved and he loved KTHV too. He did not "jump ship" and no I do not have a sense of humor on this particular point.

I freely admit I'm not a cat person. But I am shocked by all the carrying on over this cat. It's a little obsessive. And 3:37, if you're a regular reader of this blog, with all the slings and arrows and cutting personal comments that are made about human beings, and that doesn't bother you, but you have "no sense of humor" about the cat--well, that says a lot. THV should be worried about improving their product and lose the garden animals.

How could anyone be so heartless and say such terrible things. Joey, brought joy to millions of people, in these turbulent times. He was a gift from GOD. Thank you THV11, for sharing his life with us. I do really hope when some of the sorrow lifts, you will consider adopting another kitty for your station and our lives.

Good grief. Don't get another cat. People need to get a life if the big thing in yours is watching a cat on tv.

Carol--

Please tell me you're being sarcastic--because that is the funniest thing that I have ever read on here!

Cats are helpless creatures. You should be ashamed to say those things about any animal.

At 9:30 PM, August 30, 2014, Anonymous Anonymous said...

I'm 4:23, and I'm not ashamed. I have a right to my opinion. And my opinion is that all this carrying on over this cat is excessive. If it was your own cat, I can see being sad. But this was a cat on tv. And I have always thought that even if the THV on air folks could not stand Joey, they knew they had to act crazy about him or risk alienating thousands (not millions, Carol) of cat-loving viewers.

You just don't understand this cat's talent. It is a real loss for LR tv.

At 10:37 PM, August 30, 2014, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Let's be honest people, this is actually a huge blow for THV. Joey was their most talented on air personality.

Why does it not surprise me that someone who feels the need to capitalize the word god also believes that millions of people watch THV, let alone feel emotional devastation over a tv cat.

I'm thinking burial in the Weather Garden--very simple and tasteful. I'm sure Chris Olsen could work something up. And then, an Eternal Flame will be lit for Joey.

Maybe Tom can stand in front of a Walmart and do a cat food drive in memory of Joey.

Joey was the best personality at/on KTHV-TV. He had more talent than that of anyone at the station. Seriously! :)

R.I.P. Joey the KTHV-TV Garden Cat.
He will be missed.

I think the rude remarks/comments that were made above should be removed. If these people don't have anything nice to say, they should keep their opinions to themselves. No one wants to read such crude and ignorant remarks.

How would they like it if someone said nasty things about them once they passed away.

At 8:08 PM, September 02, 2014, Anonymous Anonymous said...

If cats disparage me once I pass away, I suppose fair is fair.

At 8:21 PM, September 02, 2014, Anonymous Anonymous said...

I think the cat should be stuffed and placed in the weather garden. Then THV could sell sponsorship vests for the cat to wear.

As usual, hopeless, brainless trolls have to make their thoughtless remarks just to show their IQ of zero.

Joey was adorable. Cat lovers like me enjoyed the posts on facebook, & the clips from the show were fun. With all the bad news out there, Joey's presence took the edge off the harshness for a while. Making a big deal of this is better than a lot of things in the media these days.

THV really needs to stop with the Joey tributes. As wonderful as he was to his fans, he is not a Paul Eeels or Matt Turner. Those are human beings. I know animals can make a real difference in life, but the balance needs to be recognized.

At 6:36 PM, September 03, 2014, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Wait a minute... I thought cats had nine lives? Has anyone looked to see if Joey is back from the dead yet? Of course they probably don't mention in his station Bio that he was named after Joey Buttafuoco. I will reach out to Mr. Buttafuoco's spokesperson for a tribute. Details at eleven.

Have a Blessed Day

Have a blessed day.

Joey was the cat ambassador for feral cats and animal rescues. Just because he is an animal does not make him any less important. His role in helping support feral cats and animal rescues shed light on the work that is needed to give feral cats a better life and possibly a home to live in. For animal rescues, he helped in fund-raising for money and food so they can take care of the animals in their charge and be adopted into loving families. On his Facebook page, he has 426,000 fans and counting. Anyone can see that he was truly a special cat who reached worldwide with his talents. If watching Joey helped people in various ways whether to lift their spirits, to share their life with a cat because they aren't able to have one of their own, then that is great and should not be looked down upon. If soneone doesn't like the tributes to Joey, they don't have to watch them. They can go do something else and let the rest of the people who want to see them enjoy the tributes.

Perhaps if THV cat lovers really cared about the cats they exploit--what was the first cats name?--then maybe they'd move their station away from one of the busiest streets in town.

I also demand to know how Joey died! Was he murdered?! Run over? Robotic camera run over him? Ed step on him? Tom kick him? Markie Mark kidnap him and demand a ransom? What did the necropsy show?

How many mice and vermin did he hunt and kill in the weather garden? Was his death indeed justice?

Also, is anyone noticing that Dawn's anchoring skills are getting worse and worse? I could swear she had a smile on her face last night as she read a story about my friend's daughter Lauren Dunn.

6:46, I like cats, too, but I don't like them more than humans. I wonder if you do.

It's not balanced to give a feral cat on Chester Street in Little Rock, Arkansas international status.

Seriously, you need to talk less to cats and more to people... qualified people.

At 7:50 PM, September 03, 2014, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Animals don't have hatred and prejudice like people do. Animals also show more compassion which is more than I can say about humans. Yes, I like animals more than people who have nothing better to do than criticize others. Qualified people??? If you are referring to yourself, I think not.

At 8:46 PM, September 03, 2014, Anonymous Anonymous said...

I love cats too, especially with rice and a nice cream sauce. Yummy

At 9:19 PM, September 03, 2014, Anonymous Anonymous said...

No, I mean like someone who is a doctor. I didn't criticize "people," I criticized you and a performer on the station. Performers are criticized all the time-- part,of their job and the should be performers if they can't take criticism.

I think people who admit to liking animals more than people need some correction and criticism from their peers.

Next thing you know there will be cats AND dogs in the garden. You could be Mr or Mrs Dolittle. I'm sure you've dreamed of that.

At 9:21 PM, September 03, 2014, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Like, I hate misspelling things after I've typed them. That's called self-criticism. Very healthy sometimes.

At 10:00 PM, September 03, 2014, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Evidently you don't know how to read as I did not say that I dislike all people; only morons like you. If anyone needs a doctor it is you for your lack of understanding of others. I do not have delusions of being Mr. or Mrs. Doolittle; only you would think that because of your little brain and narrow-mindedness. You can take your criticism elsewhere as no one here needs it.

I don't think he or she is a moron. As evidenced by Facebook, I think it's sad that there are so many who obviously have much more love and satisfaction in their relationships with pets that they do the people in their lives. Not saying that's you, 10PM, but the seething hate you have for people who disagree with you on this blog is food for thought. I don't think he or she said anything to attack you at all in his original post. You are the one who attacked first.

At 6:28 AM, September 04, 2014, Anonymous Anonymous said...

@7:50, animals show more compassion than people? Are you referring to the animals people have tamed? Go hang out in the with some wild predators for a while, and I guarantee you there will be no compassion for you.

Lizz Massey must of taken the cat away because she was obsessed with having the cat on during weekend shows.

Will someone please answer how the poor cat passed away?!!

At 1:08 PM, September 04, 2014, Anonymous Anonymous said...

The person who keeps making fun of and saying derogatory things about cats and people who love cats, needs to grow up and learn compassion. This is a blog regarding the passing of, yes, a cat, but one who was beloved of a large portion of people. And, as was stated above, a very important icon for the awareness and importance of spay/neuter, animal rescue. feral cats and feral colonies, cancer, animals' ability to help people heal, etc., as there are more. All of these are important aspects in life, at least to people with compassion. Your callous banter really does show a lack of any form of compassion, as well as your ignorance. And you must be a very sad individual in that you find it necessary to continue your dribble even after it is obvious that, whether you agree with it or not, your words are insensitive to people who are hurting. You remind me of grade school bullies. Wow, that is really something to be proud of.

Always hilarious with the Channel 11 folks that they shame, shame, shame you while they point their shaking finger at how hateful and calloused and ignorant you are when they spend ten lines being hateful, name-calling, pious, animal-empowered a**holes! Cracks me UP!

To 1:08 PM: Thank you for the great comment - very well said. Don't know why the ones who do not like cats or support animal rescues, etc. are even posting here. This is supposed to about honoring Joey the Garden Cat who was followed by thousands of people worldwide and for offering condolences for his passing. Bunch of trolls posting here who only have negative thoughts and insensitive comments to make just to show their lack of people skills.

To 1:03 PM I haven't seen a definite answer as to the cause of Joey's death but there was mention that he may have had a rare kidney disease.

At 5:29 PM, September 04, 2014, Anonymous Anonymous said...

To 5:19 AM If you look at the post from September 3 at 7:09 PM, you will see that they did the attacking first by indicating that I needed to see a doctor aka pyschiatrist because they felt I liked cats more than people. If that isn't an attack, I don't know what is.

Yes. There are a couple--or same person?--people on here that remind of the woman in "Misery." Enraged over minutiae.

At 11:35 AM, September 09, 2014, Anonymous Anonymous said...

He died because they left him as an outdoor cat. Outdoor cats simply don't live as long as indoor cats. Same thing happened to his predecessor, who was found dead in an abandoned building next door. Joey was only 7 or 8 years old, which is the typical lifespan of an outdoor cat.

I have two cats well into their teens that are as healthy as can be. In fact, the vet says he has never seen a cat as old as my older cat (18 years old) that looked as good as he does.

Bottom line: Joey and Larry both died because nobody at KTHV would take them in.

At 6:51 AM, September 10, 2014, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Yes you're absolutely right. THV should do a cat house drive. What monsters for letting an animal live outside rather than building it a nice ranch style home in west Little Rock.

At 11:43 AM, September 10, 2014, Anonymous Anonymous said...

6:51am

How about ADOPTING the cat and taking it home, instead of leaving it to its own defense in a "Weather Garden" in the middle of downtown? They did everything else (vets, shots, neuter, etc), why NOT take him home?

At 6:28 AM, September 12, 2014, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Bravo! Absolutely right 11:43.
Of course, Channel 11 can use that cat for it's own strange purposes (a weather cat?!!) Hey, if a cat can draw a fraction of a percentage of ratings, that's money.
As far as the two women at 11--and yes, we know who you are--who like animals more than people I would say this; those two have a genuine love of animals and I would rather see someone overly loving an animal than the opposite. But as in other places of business, it's no place for a pet.

At 11:29 AM, September 15, 2014, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Why for didn't the two animal fanatics take him in themselves if they were so worried? It reminds me of a typical pro-life activist who judges women but never adopts any unwanted children.

11:29am

Not sure if you were referring to me or not (11:35am and 11:43), but FYI, BOTH of my cats are former strays that I adopted. They have both lived long, happy lives INSIDE my home. Both are well into their teens and are quite healthy.

Basically, I can talk the talk because I walk the walk. Can you say the same?

11:29: Good for you! Same thing here with two loving furballs. Wouldn't have it any other way. I'm a Vietnam vet and you hit the nail right on the head! Lots of people talk the talk... May God bless you!
