Alyson Courtney has left THV to anchor Daybreak at 7. She'll have to stay off the the air for 6 months because of her non-compete.

That's a shame for THV. She was very well liked and will be missed.
God bless her. I will still won't watch channel 7 everybody there seems so uptight and stuck up. Beth Hunt will make her do all the work in the mornings now.

I've worked with Beth Hunt since she came to 7. You won't find anyone who puts in more hours or works harder. She's top notch.

Alyson will be missed in the newsroom! She was so much fun and always worked hard. Larry and Chuck really lost a good one. I hope they feel like idiots.
What a gain for KATV! She's a gem! Why not let Dawn or Liz go and use the extra money to keep Allison around? They're boring and dull. That morning show is now a sinking ship. Congrats

She's too good for 7. Sad though 11 doesn't have anybody to promote to be on the morning show.

I think Alyson was great and I loved her with Tomm almost as much as I loved Robyne, B.J. and Tom. What I would like to know is are there not any African Americans qualified enough to be and anchor, becuase I have never seen one except in the evening and that was long ago.
Ch7 is a better station than some get it credit for. Ut has some great hard workers on and off camera.
Do you see them back stabbing and talking about each other on here like employees at thv on every blog on here even if its not a thv blog... no.
They actually truly like each other, work well together and strive to make do with the equipment and studio and everything else they have to over come.
Thv sure is going to have a pretty studio no one is going to watch sooner than later.
People don't care about being first in HD as much as they care about fair wages and being treated like humans
Now Really? Something tells me there's probably a cat fight in the newsroom at 7 everyday because all the blond anchors/reporters are so jealous of each other.

She got Mike Duncan’s weekend anchor gig while he was there and they didn’t give him a reason. Ratings were good, no mess ups…. I guess Blackstone is running the place.

Where does she fit in on the morning show at KATV. Beth must be moving to the evening news whiile Heather goes on maternity leave and will take over Nightside for Munoz after that. Or Barry is going back to Live at Five!!! Beth and Alyson are friends, so who knows what's going to happen.

I bet Alyson will take over MidDay and Beth will get a shorter day and they will both compensate for shorter days by working on segments or packages that can be held for later newscast so they're seen in other shows.

Mike Duncan got arrested on drug charges and how in the world is that Ashley's fault? Audas canned him!!!!! Ashley shows energy and great stage presence. I would love to see her in the morning show or she would.be great paired with Dawn at five, six. and ten. Put Craig and Liz on the A.M. show.

Goodby KATV - celebrated those KTHV absent days when Alyson and her mouth didn't show up. Made 7 my new habit and now I got to hear Alyson's mouthy, cockey, self-absorbed attitude on 7 - Grrr. Guess I'll trudge on back to KTHV.

I wouldn't expect to see Dawn stick around THV much longer anyway... She's pretty sick of it all from what I hear & I think her deal is almost up. So cheers to all the Dawn-haters! But if she does goes-- who else does THV have that has the chops to fill a main-anchor role?

The content is fine but as a viewer I can't watch.
Liz is Dawn's sidekick, Dawn carries the news part. If Dawn ever leaves, Liz & Craig as the main newsteam, I would rather watch Joey the Garden Cat.

Alyson has come a long way from when she first started on THV. Not a good move to let her go so abruptly, without any sort of good bye. Very dissappointed in THV's handling of this. Hope she kicks butt...she will. What about Tom?

One of the Channel Four morning women should go to 11. One of them is in trouble because there is too much payroll on that show.
I knew thv had problems when they made someone a Saturday female anchor who can't read or carry on a conversation.
I don't know about not being able to conversate. They both like to talk about farts while some of their audience is eating breakfast. Now that's being informed and entertained.
I know, I know, it's not a word but thought I would just use it anyway.

Here is the thing.
Ok so we agree whatever THV is doing isn't working.
I assume alyson was getting paid well. I mean better than the reporters making 20k. So what did she want that they didn't give her?
Probably wanted the cake and wanted to eat it 2. everybody is down on 11's management. Could be something she demanded and didn't get so she quit and went to 7.
Basically 11 let her slip out as there was no contract offer at the time hers expired. So 7 snuck in saw an opportunity and stole her away. Management has made some bone-head moves lately with personel. They'll spin it to say that the person didn't want to stay at 11 but all they have to do is show a little respect toward thier employees and maybe, just maybe one or two will stay. Well, that and pay them a living wage. 11 has a lot of young, raw talent. Well I hesitate to say that. After watching this morning, if they go forth with Pam Baacum there will not be any ratings left! Not trying to be mean, she is an ok reporter, but NOT an anchor. As a matter of fact they have a lot of young and green talent (and I use that term loosley). Jessica Duff, Steed, Lauren, Lisa, all young but very green and they need guidance. Something 11 will not provide. In the meantime there only 2 choices there to fill Alyson's seat - Ashley Blackstone and Melissa Gates, neither would really draw an audience. It may be best to look on the outside this time. Can't blame Alyson for leaving though if she was shown a lack of respect or even taken for granted then 11 got what they deserved.

Thanks BJ - 6 mos. doesn't a reliable reporter make, much less anchor. That's the problem with your generation - the "gimmie, gimmie, gimmie I deserve it" generation. You absolutly need more seasoning. We have seen your live shots and they need some serious work.
So sad... Little Rock used to be a training ground for the top 20. Now,, this market SUCKS. Been around the business a long time and although 16 gets the grief on this board and their ratings don't show it, they have some great reporter talent.
Four is next with some real potential if they'd get rid of Clausen and a few of their weather boys. Seven next, but they're flat and basically doing the same format they were 25 years ago. Their latest reporter hires are weak.
Eleven is shot. A clown for a male anchor and no personal offense intended there, a main anchor woman who is blogging that the business is getting to her, reporters who wouldn't be hired in Jonesboro and a GM who has either lost it or is working for a company that is about to spin off some assets. I believe it's more the former. The first sign is when they fired their front desk person. If you walk into THV, there is basically a booth with a phone to greet you. You expect the first thing you'll hear is, "Good morning, Mr Phelps.."

11 has too many reporters and doesn't even have space to let them intro their stories. You don't know who those people are.
7 has too few reporters, you see them in every show with a different story. They run them too thin. They do several stories a day and that takes a toll on the quality and time you put into it.
Both stations look weak for opposite reasons.
It's all about saving MONEY! They can hire all of the MMJ's they want. Niether of them are making more than 24K a year! Cheap, Cheap, Cheap! Larry looks at losing Courtney as a money saver. Although she probably wasn't making the big bucks, they could probably get 2 or 3 MMJ's for that money. That or producers who are even CHEAPER!
They have gotten cheaper the past year. Now all the mmjs they hire are also producers.
Bj, max and now Lisa and lauren. Good luck getting the girls to learn. They are trying to learn how to mmj. Sad days for thv.

I watch all of the news stations- 4, 7, 11, & 16... Channel 7 is by far the most professional of all of the stations... I work at a "social" establishment in Little Rock that sees it's fair share of ALL of the Local TV personalities... The employees at Channel 7 are always so genuine and kind. Sadly, I cannot say the same about some of the ladies at Channel 11, Especially Meredith Mitchell! She is so RUDE! She'll get a couple of vodka tonics in her and she loses her filter. I.E. She will talk to you like you are dirt. She is a very poor representative of a "professional" news reporter. I miss the days of Beth and Tom on 11. Also, what ever happened to 11's version of "Dialing for Dollars"?
Why are any of you worried about where she is going... She can go and do whatever she wants. You shouldnt talk bad about any of them!

It looked to me from the beginning in watching tom and allisons body language that they didn't quite mesh. Tom does seem to get along with Melissa Dunbar-Gates. Its just a matter of finding the right fit. People do a better job when they are happy where they are. Allison never looked happy or comfortable even though she was a good newscaster.

Allyson Courtnie was good. She did not fit well with Tom and BJ then Charlie from the beginning. She ended up doing pretty fair. I don't think that anyone could replace the morning show hosts:Tom, BJ and Robyn. However, I do believe that she kept 11 alive. I know it kept me a committed viewer, but now...I really don't know. I agree that Allyson's leaving is 11's loss. I don't think I can do 7 though. I'll just have to wait for channel 16 in the evening.
